Came in late in evening, not busy at all, was seated pretty quickly, sat down, had my patient daughter with me, she had time to unroll all silverware, color the coloring page, decide what we want to eat (which takes a while), play a game we play with the silverware wrapper to pass time....all of this....and no one ever even came to bring water, chips, say hello, sneeze on us, "be with you in a second", nothing..... Went here on a Thursday for a birthday dinner. Party of 6. We wee excited to give it a try. Food was okayish. It's hard to mess up enchiladas but the steak dish was over cooked. What really was disappointing was the service. The restaurant was not busy, yet we had to ask for our waters to be refilled twice, we were out of chips most of the time, then when we wanted to get our check we waited 30min before we saw our waitress again. First Off.... Torero's is NOT in the Tacoma Mall or Parking Lot. It is its own place across from the Tacoma Mall. This will make a BIG difference for a lot of people due to the crime at the mall. Torero's is a very charming place. The style inside is much like a Californian Mexican restaurant. Lots of Hispanic artwork and other eye candy decor to look at. The service here is decent. The staff will always make sure you have an ample supply of chips and salsa. However, the food was a little slow coming out. The food itself was decent. Not the best nor the worst. Pretty much this is a B List restaurant in my books. Great place if you have large parties or have to entertain people visiting over. I will just keep this restaurant in reserve as a "just in case" place. read more

This is a new Mexican restaurant that took over an old Azteca. I have to admit that I preferred the Azteca to Torero's but it's still a good place to eat. They redecorated the place but it still has the same vibe. The place is enormous so you hardly ever have to wait for to be seated and the bar is large and a great place for watching sports. The staff has been friendly and attentive and it's really close to my house which is nice. As far as Mexican restaurants go, this one is on par with the ones that I tend to visit frequently. I'm hoping this review will be helpful to the business. I eat at the Renton Toreros at least once sometimes twice a week it is that good. We tried the Tacoma location tonight for the first time and I could not have been more disappointed other than the Margaritas were awesome the food was absolutely terrible I hate maybe half of my meal. I don't know how these restaurants work but you guys really need to take notes from Renton because I guarantee you if you go up there on a Friday or Saturday night there isn't one empty table. When we showed up the manager was standing out front greeting people walking in asking us where everybody was if everybody went to the beach today or something. What a night and day difference between the two. I hope Tacoma figures it out because Renton is where it's at! read more

Such great and personable service - everyone seemed to enjoy serving, which is very refreshing, especially in Tacoma. The portions were substantial and all were very flavorful. The salsa is the best salsa I've had at a restaurant in a long time. They also provide bean dip, which was nice. I had the mole enchiladas, which weren't the greatest mole but I would order it again. Other dishes at our table included shrimp tacos and a monster burrito, all dressed with great accompaniments. The beans and rice were fantastic and didn't taste like tv dinner rice and beans. I started writing this review well before the food even came. On the customer service alone I will never come back to this restaurant. We waited about 15 mins before the hostess came back to the front desk to seat us, then we waited another 5 before we will actually seated. They were not very busy so that was not good. Our server took at least 10 mins to come and take our drink order and then still brought ice water for my wife when she did not want ice. We were seated towards the back where they had a small sink area. The waitess that was clearing table kept coming to this little area and just slamming dishes in the sink and little dish washer. Super loud we had to try and talk over this noise every so often. The drinks we got were made well. The food was very good. But customer service is everything. read more

Let's dive in. Went for my birthday! The chips and salsa were delicious, salsa was not just flavorful but had a nice kick. I had the pick two combo chimi and enchilada, the chimi I got with ground beef which was great and the enchilada was heaven the chicken wasn't dry it was moist and delicious. My aunt had the chicken Al a crema and she liked it. The homemade tortillas with it were really good too! For my birthday I skipped the singing lol. They just brought desert which was some delicious (filled?) mini churros and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. So cute. My only complaint was my daiquiri, it was super icy really big chunks, they were pretty busy so I didn't send it back. But the pineapple mojito was divine. read more

Recently moved from AZ, some of the best Mexican food, I've been missing good eats. But Torero's for the WIN! You can taste the rounded out flavor of every chili. I just ordered two enchiladas; one chicken and cheese and one ground beef and cheese, rice and beans and it was disgusting. I've eaten there before and it was good, but maybe they got a different cook. There was no flavor in any of the food. The beans look like baby food. The rice was watery and fluffy; it tasted llike minute rice; it was disgusting. There was no flavor. The ground beef enchilada was raw and the chicken enchilada had absolutely no flavor no sauce and no cheese. It was gross. I've gotten better food at Taco Bell. read more

wanted to try this place since the name changed and I was not impressed. in order to get the happy hour special we had to go the bar area. there was absolutely nobody in the area (customers and employees) so I couldn't understand why we had to wait and eventually go to the front of the restaurant for assistance. the waitress finally did arrive and she was very nice and quick taking our orders, delivery of drinks and food. A couple of years ago, Torero's took over the Azteca restaurant which we had frequented for many decades. We met the new owner who was making tortillas in the middle of the restaurant and hoped he would be successful in this new undertaking! My family, from Arizona, enjoys dinner here when they come to town and for the last couple of years it has been our favorite place to eat out! My husband and I often grab a quick bite during Happy Hour in the bar and up until tonight Torero's has been one of our favorites. What happened? We both ordered the chicken mini macho burrito. Indeed, it has become more "mini" since last we ate here but worse, it was filled with beans and rice and we could find almost no chicken. The price has gone up and the quantity and quality has gone down. Sad. I ordered a blended strawberry margarita ($10.00 special for a regular on a Monday evening) and was charged $3.00 extra for the strawberry mix which was dribbled lightly around the interior edges of the glass. Again, disappointing, but I will say they did not skimp on the tequila. We will probably give them one more try to see if this was just an off night but I worry that this is their new standard. read more

Been dining here for several years and have always had a great experience. Recently went through a name change and new ownership which has been a welcome change. The new ownership has refreshed the menu using a lot of fresh ingredients and has been working to improve the decor inside & out.
