Luckily we got there around 5 and were able to get 4 bar seats. Our server Colin was awesome! He happened to be from San Diego like the rest of us which made for great conversation and attentive service! The Happy hour was not just a good deal but the food was outstanding.... What a great spot! We grabbed seats at the bar and had such a wonderful dinner paired with delicious drinks. Our service was quick and attentive . We started with the Caesar salad topped with anchovies and perfectly sized, crispy croutons. Then came the chicken skewers and the steak with shrimp in tomato sauce, served with sourdough wedges -- everything was flavorful, satisfying, and beautifully prepared. We ordered one of the drink specials along with an Arnold Palmer, and both were spot-on. If you're looking for Argentinian food at its best in Tacoma, this is a must-try restaurant. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner and had no issues finding parking or making a reservation the day of. We got the Lomo ($68) and the Parilla Mixta ($50) with the mashed potatoes and the polenta. The last time we came here, they brought out a delicious complimentary bread but it seems like they don't do that anymore. My boyfriend liked his lomo (filet mignon) and it had a nice sear and the chimichurri and demi glace was delicious. My parilla mixta was yummy but the skirt steak was on the blander side and the sausage was nothing special but I really like the shrimp and the polenta was delicious. Overall everything was fresh and the food came out quick and our waitress was really nice. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we were there but it looked like it was filling up and it is a cute spot for a date night or dinner with friends! At this place it's all about the beef, baby. Don't go there and order a salad, or pasta, or salmon, or even pork or lamb! We had a gift certificate from the BMW dealership for $75. All we had to do was buy a $100,000 car. That's why I took my husband to this restaurant for his birthday. It is a small place and not very fancy. Some people dressed up a little, but most people were dressed casually. It was a Wednesday night and by 7pm the place was packed. Suggest reservations if you go on a weekend. Parking was iffy, if you go early. We got the "Dinner for Two" for $200. It sounds like a lot but it was actually a good deal. If you bought everything individually it would have been quite a bit more than $100 per person. You each got soup AND salad, your choice of two side dishes, a big honkin' 2 1/2 lb rib steak (just one) and dessert. The rib steak had a bone in it that probably weighed a lb., but there was plenty of meat for 2 people. In a supermarket that cut of steak is called a "tomahawk rib steak" because it has a bone on one side and a big piece of meat on the other, shaped like a tomahawk. They warned you that it took 45 minutes to grill it medium rare, and it did. (Warning, do not stuff yourself with soup and salad waiting for it.) The meat was cooked to perfection by about 5 chefs who looked like they could kill something and then cook it over a prehistoric campfire. There was a huge grill and fan and the restaurant smelled like smoking meat. The medium rare was perfect, a little more done on the ends for my husband, pink to red in the center for me. Frankly, after the meat, we could only eat a few spoons of the side dishes. The dessert of creme broulet The $200 dinner, plus 2 beers each, 1 glass of wine and a $60 tip came close to $400. That's why I've rated this place 4 instead of 5. We have paid $400 for 2 people before but the restaurant was usually much fancier. This place was not much to look at. read more

This place has been on my list for a while, and I'm so glad I got to check it out for happy hour. My friend and I started with the empanada and frites as appetizers then opted for the surf and turf as our entrees. The food was all very flavorful and fresh. The bread that is served with the surf and turf is tasty, and the portion size of the dish was large enough for me to take home and have leftovers. The special margarita was pineapple flavored and refreshing. Service was wonderful, and the restaurant itself was very cute. We've always liked Asado, but haven't been there in a while. We ordered the lamb and the Bolognese. The lamb was really very good and tasty. We ate every morsel! The Bolognese, however, was inedible. It was barely warm, the cheese was coagulated and really the only flavor was salt. A lot of salt. We were very disappointed. But the biggest disappointment came when we got our bill and for each of 3 glasses of wine we were charged for a full bottle. So almost $150.00 for 3 glasses of wine. The waitperson fixed it, but she did not apologize or even act surprised. That left a bad taste in our mouth more than the Bolognese. So, if you go, don't order the Bolognese and please be sure to check your bill! read more

This place was amazing! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were able to get a seat at the bar right away. It seemed busier on the regular table side, but it was nice to have either option. The ambiance is super cute, cosy enough to be a date night, but lively enough to go with friends too. The bartenders were super nice and knowledgeable about the menu, answering all of the questions we had. My husband got the Caramelized Pineapple Margarita, which I believe was their seasonal margarita at the time, and he really liked it. I just got a regular margarita, which was also very good. To eat, I got the Prawn & Turf, and he got the Bolognese. During Happy Hour, everything is very reasonably priced! All of the food was extremely flavorful and the portions were more than enough. The pasta is made in house and you can really taste the difference! The sauce that came with the prawn & turf was one of the most unique and flavorful sauces I've ever had. We had also ordered an empanada as well and our bartender forgot to ring it in, but it ended up working out just fine because we couldn't even finish our main plates. So I'm not from the area but a local recommended this place. Grateful we made reservations since they book out in advance. Our servers name was Kate and she was superb! The way she described all the food with such passion and detail made us want to order everything! Aside from that she was beyond kind and patient while we chose our drinks and food. Never once made us feel rushed. I ordered the Inside Job and loved it! Great take on an old fashioned. My pregnant sister ordered a secret garden which she said was incredibly refreshing. We shared everything and started off with the chicken empanadas. Loved these! They had this incredible hint of cinnamon and I love how they had a generous amount of filling, a light crunchy crust and the sauce on the side only made them that much better. My sister ordered the ribeye with the purple potatoes and I got the branzino. She said her steak was good but she'd had a better one at Seattle City Grill. I thought it had a great crust on it. Made reservations here for my Fiancé's birthday awhile back. Found parking fairly easy (Street Parking Only) and was immediately greeted by the server right when we walked in. Was a beautiful day out so the big doors were open letting in some fresh air. Ordered the Rib Eye, which I'm typically not a fan of Rib Eye steak. Delicious. Perfectly seasoned where no additional sauce was needed and it practically melted in my mouth. Be prepared to spend a bit of coin but also be prepared to have plenty of left overs. Two years later and I'm back with a review update - the five star rating isn't going anywhere, but I've had a couple of new dishes since I originally wrote my first review and I thought they deserved more praise. My fiance and I have come here for every anniversary and for a Valentines Day or two. It's definitely our favorite spot to celebrate special occasions! The vibe is definitely romantic and it's the perfect spot for a date. The service is also always impeccable and this last visit was no different! We both ALWAYS order the Pollo Frito Fettucine. It NEVER disappoints and is one of the best pasta dishes I've had anywhere. The chicken is always so delicious and the pasta sauce has a nice kick that really elevates the dish. This last visit, we noticed they had a new Lamb Ragu Pappardelle and we decided to order one of the pollo frito fettucine and one of the lamb ragu and split it so that we could give something new a try. The lamb was cooked SO well and had such great flavor. The pasta sauce didn't beat the sauce of the pollo frito, but it was still really good. The waitress let me know it was a staff favorite and I can see why. We had mentioned we were in for our anniversary and they treated us to a piece of chocolate cake on the house which was really sweet. We normally don't order dessert, but I'm so glad we got to try this because it was SO good. Super rich and decadent and I would gladly pay for this in the future. Overall it was a great anniversary date just like every other year, and I'm glad we finally branched out and tried a new menu item. I always forget that they have a daily happy hour - I've heard it's pretty good, so I definitely want to try and make it in for that in the near future at their bar! read more

For example, we asked for a spoon for our soup she made it clear this was an inconvenience. Ambiance was great. I would just make sure your servers have good attitudes. This is a wow appetizer as the flavor is a tip your head back sigh as it is a taste you don't experience with small bites. That was followed by rib eye and their parilla mixta. Worst anniversary dinner ever. I used to love this place. The Argentinian flare menu was amazing. We came in to celebrate our anniversary and were sat by the garage door windows. The place was not bust at all and sure enough they sat another couple at the table next to us one foot away. I get server sections but it was so awkward feeling like we couldn't talk without it being a "family" conversation with the strangers next to us. Our waiter rushed us through the whole meal. No personality and would go chat in the kitchen while looking over at is with his co workers. My husband's steak was nothing but fat everywhere. The surf and turf app had two prawns, a few steak nibbles and a ton on sauce with a a loaf of over buttered bread and our free one scoop of anniversary ice cream had a nice long black hair in it. If you want a meal that is always a 10/10 I recommend the Lomo w/fig Demi glaze on creamy polenta. Absolutely amazing - large portions and the steak comes with your choice of side. They also have very good starter salads (the butter wedge is so fresh and delicious) that can easily be shared between two people ($2 splitting fee to have it plated separately). They ran out of glasses for the Pom drop cocktail, so it was served in a much smaller glass. Lil baby glass, but the remainder that didn't fit in the baby glass came to us in another basic glass. Cozy atmosphere and excellent server! Had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Excellent wine selection, although I got their red sangria. A bit tart, less fruity than most I've had. My husband and I enjoyed the "Oltre by Asado" experience on Friday night. I was very excited to give this old favorite a try during their 20th Anniversary celebration month and they did NOT disappoint! We arrived a bit early and enjoyed a classic Godfather cocktail in the lounge before heading in to be seated. Upon the recommendation of our server, we started off with an order of the grilled sourdough that was served with a honey coriander butter. The bread was slightly smoky from the grilling and the honey butter was the perfect complement. My husband had the Tagliatelle Bolognese as his main course and I had the wood fired branzino. Both were spectacular. The tagliatelle was clearly hand made and perfectly cooked al dente, while the sauce was rich, full of flavor and did not overwhelm the beautiful pasta. My branzino was sweet, tender, with a beautifully charred skin. We couldn't resist the deep dark chocolate bundino with candied hazelnuts for dessert. My wish is that they continue to feature some of these beautiful Italian inspired dishes well past January. read more

Just excellent! Our first time and we opted to sit in the bar area and had the most amazing service from Kat. She suggested the empanadas and calamari, both were so good, so fresh and the pairing sauces were perfection. We decided to split a salad and entree. The salad (can't remember the name) but had the herbs, candied walnuts, mango ....yum!! The entree was the papparadelle with beef and lamb, also good but this dish was a little overpowered by the leeks (which we love normally-just a bit much) but not a deal breaker. My husband and I have been coming to Asado for probably 10 years. We have always loved, treasured, and looked forward to date night here. Recently the menu was drastically cut and recreated deeper than any menu I've ever seen, and I have to admit, we went through a deep grieving over some items that were slashed. I thought I wouldn't recover. However, in the past two weeks I've had a few items on the new menu that are helping me heal. The shrimp bisque soup sip is delicious and comforting, the fork and knife Caesar salad is the best around, and tonight the bolognese truly healed my heart. I've never known a bolognese to be a delicate type sauce. This sauce was flavorful and well rounded without being heavy and overpowering to the pasta. This sauce and pasta were so beautifully melded together. Truly delicious! You've gotta try it! Great job tonight guys! read more
