We also ordered the Baja Shrimp and this was the first time they offered grilled or fried shrimp. So we decided to get both. And they both were good. Place was being clean as customers leave. Starting with the food. I don't think I've had worse in a long time. The description sounded fantastic and I couldn't wait to try it. We ordered the special. The chips and salsa arrived. Look yall... I've been eating Torchys since 2012.. I was so excited when a Location was opening closer to my house (still 30 minutes away). This location DOES NOT meet the standards of any other Torchy's tacos location! Thick tortillas like an angry Greek guy made them, talking about gyros are the original taco. Dry. And I mean DRY BBQ. Straight up like a dude from new Hampshire said Texas bbq isn't that hard I can do that! The pico is freezer burnt! Who freezes pico!?! The chicken tenders are under seasoned and over cooked like a 50 year old white lady from Minnesota made them because mayonnaise and black pepper are too spicy! I've given it a chance three different days and times here and the food isn't tasty and good like the other locations . That's truly sad ! For just opening, they are doing a fantastic job. I couldn't help but notice how much attention the staff was paying to keeping the location clean and looking fresh, which is definitely exhilarating to see. The people working here are incredibly friendly and sociable, which is another plus that I always look for. I enjoyed watching them changing out the trash cans regularly, making sure to wipe down surfaces and sweep the floors on a consistent basis as I was there. That said, they are brand new and have an appearance to keep up, so I'm intrigued to see if they can keep at it with as much pride as I saw on my first visit on down the road. Some places risk veering off after a month or so, becoming complacent, hopefully this place doesn't wind up doing that. Walking in, the first thing noticeable is how bright the establishment is from the natural light outside. It's not so bright that it's stark, but it definitely avoids the dark and depressing vibe that so many restaurants with a bartop give off (and yes buffalo wild wings, I'm looking at you, you windowless place...). So eating here, the light and the friendly atmosphere really gives a lot of positive energy that can get someone through the day-which is an irony considering their actual theme; but don't let that stop you from enjoying yourself here. On to the food, I've seen people knock a Torchy's location for being too expensive. I've never actually been to a location until now and while I can attest, four to five bucks for a single taco can seem a bit on the pricier side, I think it's worth it for the what you're getting. On one hand, you're getting a taco that is piled with so much food that it's slightly difficult to hold, and another considering factor is that this place is a "scratch kitchen". What that means is the food is prepped and prepared fresh in the kitchen, they cook the tortillas and have someone chop up the fruits and veggies, and so on. So comparing this place to some taco spot like taco bell, this place is by far superior. I had the brushfire taco, which was simply amazing. It comes with their diablo sauce, which I have to say for a hot sauce it hits the spot. I love spicy, so I enjoy a bit of heat, and that comes in with satisfaction, more than meeting the combination of flavor and kick that satisfies me personally. Each time I've had the chips and queso come out, and I must say it's incredibly addicting as you can imagine. I will say their drink selection may be a bit limited if you're looking for a beer, but they do have your Houston basics as well as your bare-bones "every-bar" beers too. So, if you want to have a beer with your taco, you're more likely going to find something you enjoy. They have a selection of margaritas and other drinks that I haven't tried yet, I may; but until then and until observing whether or not they can keep their level of passion, pride, and customer service up consistently and not falter like so many places can do....I do recommend them and give them this four star for the moment. Food tastes great as always and the service is good. Employees are pleasant. The corn tortillas were very brittle and didn't hold up to eat my taco. Actually had to eat it with a fork. My main issue is the amount of filling in the tacos. We eat at multiple locations all around Houston, and this is the first time I felt like a location is having financial problems. Normally with a Naughty Santa you are served a small side of the delicious sauce and there is always enough of filling for almost two tacos! Definitely not at this location. There were only two tiny pieces of chorizo and very little sauce. The tiny slice of avocado was not even enough for one taco. We will always eat at Torchy's, just not this location. read more

Food is well prepared and the selection of tacos is varied and creative. I , also, like the fact I can still order a drink with my TexMex when I eat at the restaurant. I've recently been paying some attention to their non-taco selections and love their Airstream salad. Tried it twice now as a delivery. Both times fresh and flavorful. I got to pick the protein and got the grilled chicken fajita . Yum! Service is fast and they are usually busy. First time trying this location. The service was great, everyone is super friendly and helpful. The place looks clean and spacious. I was just disappointed in our food. My family had orders of flour and corn tacos. Tortillas were barley warmed and mostly cold and tasted raw. First off, I LOVE that you can make any of their items vegetarian. This is already a go to in my book. That being said, the Trailer Park taco was not good...maybe because it was made vegetarian. So glad we gave this Torchy's location a try. We live in Sugar Land directly across the freeway from the Torchy's there and had been let down time and time again with their food and service. However, THIS location in Rosenberg was great! Service was friendly, fast, and the food tasted great, fresh, not thrown together, and the place was very clean inside and out. We will definitely be back to this location. Shout out to the workers who greeted us with genuine smiles and brought the food to the table quickly with great attitudes...even asked if we needed extra sauces. I wish we got this kind of service at the Sugar Land location, but Rosenberg is fairly close so we will definitely be making the short drive to pay this location a visit again in the very near future! read more

I have very mixed feelings about this location. I went about a week ago for the first time for a Thursday night date night. The friendliness of the staff was top notch, the food was AMAZING, and appearance was super cute. Loved that they had an outside area. Butttt, the reasons I didn't give them 5 stars are: 1) we waited over half an hour for our food and the restaurant was not busy, 2) the drinks were pretty weak (yummy, but way weaker than other locations), and 3) the music was not at all my type. More punk rock sounding music. Would have much preferred a generic top hits. If the food wasn't so good, I probably wouldn't return. This is the closest Torchys for us. Have been about 5 times already but noticed this last trip the yelp reviews when I pulled it up in maps, so I thought I'd leave one and snap some photos. They are open on the weekends for breakfast but serve all tacos all day long. This trip we went Sunday, it wasn't busy until around 11am. Staff is friendly, service was quick, and food was the normal Torchy's portions. Ordered chips & queso, chicken fajita tacos w fried avacado, and a burrito. We've usually come mid day on Saturdays and it can be pretty busy, but still room to sit. Lots of groups of sports kids and families usually. The restaurant is always clean. Sometimes the tables may be dirty but that's just bc some people are too lazy to throw their trash in the bins by the exit doors. So you may have to wait on staff to throw it away if you need a place to sit. We've also ordered Togo to take home, they have a drive thru to pick up and also 3 parking spots for Togo. We come to Torchy's bc we love the food, it is also nice that you can add all sorts of items to your tacos to "build" it your way. For those saying it's over priced the meat isn't the same quality as taco cabana but more a restaurant like los cucos. It's not fast food quality at all. read more

I was hungry on my way home today from work. I decided to stop and get some yummy delicious tacos. I placed the order online on the way. When I went in to pick up my order, the cashier asked for the name on the order. I showed her my order number and told her that I wasn't able to add a name. She looked puzzled. She went back to the kitchen twice. Finally she told me the order was still being made. I asked the cashier to scan my qcode on my phone to check in. She gave my some excuse and did not scan my phone. I was puzzled but didn't feel like continuing to try and understand.
