This time I'm reviewing breakfast on a Sunday morning in downtown Needville, Texas. Los Charros is the local hot spot starting at 6am. The server was absolutely attentive and very quick with my coffee, which I truly appreciated. I had two teenagers with me and they served us chips and salsa- even though it was 8 AM! Gotta love tex-mex! I ordered the chorizo and egg plate and the boys got huevos rancheros and the breakfast special which contain pancakes. We had all the butter, syrup and condiments in place on the table so no need to bug the waiter. Coffee refills were quick! Also ask for their fresh cantaloupe and watermelon juices- super refreshing and addictive! My only complaint is the green sauce is horrible and that's pretty hard to mess up in Texas. Red sauce is on point! Stop by- lots of space and tables to enjoy a meal and plenty of staff. Breakfast definitely delivers here! read more

Looking for descent Mexican food.? Los Charros has you covered. Brimming in mediocrity and shrinkflation this restraunt leaves you want more of everything except salt. Arrived around 12:15 for lunch and ordered tea and a enchiladas. The chips and salt infused hot sauce was barely edible, but could easily be improved to something really good. It seemed they added extra salt to a good hot sauce to keep people from eating so many chips, which I am usually guilty of. Tea came in two sizes with free refills. Hmmm. Straws are too short for the large, I recommend you get the medium size drink just because of that. For Enchiladas Sueze (MSP?) - #34 I think - I got chicken. Sauce was good and everything except the chicken was good. Should have been shredded chicken, but was dried out chicken fajita meat as well. It comes with three enchilada s, but Los Charros has decided to use small corn tortillas for the enchiladas instead of ones you would normally get at the store... So really you get two compared to every other TexMex place. Pico de Gallo was good, and comes with what looks like a smear of avocado on the bottom. May be it wasn't supposed to be part of the meal, or shrinkflation hit again and a half teaspoon fulfills their obligation. Server was attentive and kept my tea glass full. Thank you, you got that extra star for the restaurant. Overall, if you are just looking for a place to stop for lunch as you travel by Needville, try some place else. read more

I have eaten at lost Charles for many years. And it was very good but here in the past 3 to 4 years the food has really gotten terrible. They use very cheap cheese, which is very greasy and greasy foods. I have a problem with eating even my grandson said the food has gone downhill. We went in at eight there last summer and we decided probably not to ever go back because the food was just absolutely horrible that day. Don't know who's doing the cooking but they need to change chefs or something because the food is just not the same anymore. read more

BEWARE! This restaurant is guilty of False Advertising! I was absolutely overcharged at checkout! I was told the menu prices were outdated and the advertised price was wrong although when confronted, the problem was not rectified! I would highly recommend avoiding this restaurant, unless you enjoy being ripped off! read more

So disappointed today... The chicken in the chicken burritos(not pictured) was lacking flavor and tenderness. The hard taco was good but look at that lettuce...Yuck! Horchata was good. read more

My brother, son and I ate here for breakfast. We were in a small town on a Sunday morning looking for anything open and we found Los Charros. We figured why not. Much to our surprise, it was really good food at a very reasonable price. Son had a plate with pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs. I had eggs n ham with refried beans and my brother had nopalitas (cactus and scrambled eggs). We kinda shared everything and there wasn't a bad dish one. Food was very good. Service was very good. Definately worth checking out. The only thing I didn't care for were the tortillas. Not home made. Packaged. read more

It was quiet and empty! Which I love! And we sat right away our server was okay. The queso could of been better it was watery. I ordered a tostada with fajita didn't finish it . It had old Avacado on it. My husband got a burrito he wasn't to fond said it was too salty. Wouldn't be opposing to come back but wouldn't be soon. read more

Great family owned & operated breakfast spot in the farming town of Needville, TX. If the locals fill this place up, which they do, you can rest assured this place serves great breakfast. From breakfast tacos to the Needville plate with fajitas and ranchero eggs. Oh... and the pancakes are to die for too. Lunch and dinner are also great! We were really hoping to find a good Mexican restaurant near our new house. We found Los Charros and had high hopes. They let us down. The food was not very good. The fajitas were did not have much flavor, and were not even cut. I had to rip the fajitas apart with my hands. The refried beans were terrible, they had a bad flavor and were a very watery consistency. The rice was laughable, as it has ZERO flavor, and was very dry. I can make better Mexican rice and I don't pride myself on Mexican dishes. My wife orders chicken enchiladas with extra cheese. They put shredded chicken in a tortilla, filled it with about a pound of cheese, and just folded it over like a taco and grilled it on the flat top. Not sure how they messed up enchiladas, but it came out like a huge chicken & cheese taco. I have had better Mexican food at gas stations. Best 'street' style tacos (tacos Mexicano) I've had in years! Abundant meat and those grilled onions were splendid! Wish I'd had more of the grilled peppers, one just wasn't enough! Hubby had a crunchy taco and was impressed with the amount of meat and cheese! His Relleno was flavorful but the order arrived without being stuffed with chicken as requested or the tortillas our friendly waitress said she would bring! There is room for improvement here but it's clean and the food arrives in good time. We spent over 60 dollars here today because my grandson and I ate here for lunch as well and I forgot my cell phone! Our lunch special of Taquitos was perfect. This is my oldest son loves this restaurant. We eating out and sometimes eating there. It has some good menu and is pretty price efficient.

A hidden gem on a small deserted street. I came to Texas to visit my parents. White Jersey folk through and through, they gravitate towards the Tex Amex chains. That's where our tastes collide. This little spot is as authentic as it gets. Sort of cafeteria style in service and serving up basic home cooked Mexican meals. Akin to diner in Jersey. Simple yet on point. People were great and there were TVs to entertain my little toddler. read more

So first impression, I'm nervous. No greeting at door, seated ourselves. Margarita taste like limeade, but then again i prefer a top shelf. Lunchroom Nacho cheese dip is the worst! Salsa is spicy & good. Chips fresh & delicious. Waitress when asked what's good, confession "I don't eat here"...Yikes! Ordered enchiladas suizas, and a cheese enchilada, really good. Not shredded chicken but flavorful. Rice & beans were good. Homemade tortillas. It wasn't a Houston Mexican food experience but for a small town it was good. Hubby got the Texas plate. Cheese enchiladas were Tex-mex like he likes. The carne guisada was tender but lacking in spice. He liked it but I thought it needed some flavor. Overall it was surprisingly good! read more

We go here a lot. Close to home for us, decent prices, good service. My kids like the 25cent machines to get a toy. Beef fajitas are a bit tough and the salsa is not great. Everything else is great. We have gotten their food take out for several parties and always been a hit. You get way more than what you need. An order for 2 will feed 4. read more

about 3 weeks ago i took my family out to eat, we always drove by this restaurant and wanted to experience the food there. i have to say the food was not the best not to mention the service. when we arrived no one greeted us. 3 different waitresses came to the table before they could figure out who was gona give us service.we asked for a high chair for my daughter and no one brought it. when i saw how bad service was i got up and grab it my self. i could see the staff watching me as i got up to grab the high chair. i was very dissatisfied and disappointed at this moment. when they finally took our order i was hoping the food would make up for the service, little did we know it was not. i was actually surprised of the ambiance this place had every time we drove by. i dont recommend going there, dont waist your time or money. if you want to get served good food with good service go some place else, some where were theres waitresses willing to serve you. first and last time. bad experience. read more

We love everything about this place, from their Mexican taquitos to their aguas frescas. We eat here at least three times a month.

I ordered chicken fajita quesadillas it came as a three soft tacos they were not Crisp, meat had good flavor beans and rice had no flavor no salt I sent my quesadillas back to be Crisp up more (so they wouldn't be soggy) they bring them on a separate plate and the same plate that they took with my rice and beans.... the green sauce on my husband's enchiladas had no flavor he says his rice taste like soup beans no flavor no discount on the ticket didn't finish our food or our drinks we will not be back I repeat I will not be back.... read more

Wow...definitely a must try! My reviews never discuss service quality as that is very subjective; however, in my opinion the service is great. Wait staff was very attentive and the order was exact. The food was even better. I had the Mexican barbacoa plate. Barbacoa was just right, only a little greasy. Eggs, beans, and potatoes were perfect. Wife and kids loved the food too, no complaints from anyone. Recommend this place for the regular local or the weary traveler. read more

I've been to Los Charros before but first time I've checked in here. It's a bit of a hidden gem in downtown Needville, the food is good, the breakfast food is very good. I like everything I've gotten from there. The Migas plate is my favorite plate to get. The flour tortillas are homemade, that makes or breaks a Mexican Resturant. The wait staff, is good and very helpful. The Resturant itself is very clean and decorated well. I love the fact that, they give you queso dip as part of the chips and salsa, that comes with your meal. I recommend this place for having a good tex-mex meal. They do sell breakfast all day! Breakfasts are good and cheap. I'm not fond of dinner and/or lunch. Chips are over cooked and the queso is lukewarm carnival nacho cheese at best. I always end up ordering the chicken because the beef always seems too tough. Service is friendly. Restaurant is never busy. read more
