While it may fit into the "BIG BOX STORE" category, Home Depot is my go to store for many reasons. To name a few: - It is huge and invariably you will find what you are after (NOT fruit and vegetables OK!) - Excellent hours (till 9pm during the week) which is often a lifesaver when the work days are just too full already. - The staff are mostly 'lifers', that is have been in the trade for many years and they tend to know what you are on about and where to find it. one of my pet peeves is staff attempting to give you smart advice and miss-directing you to Isle 20 when what you want is in Isle 3! - HOWEVER when it comes to lumber, where I spend most of my time, I often get frustrated in finding pieces that match my standards. My standards are set moderately high as the lumber I use will largely be on display rather than hid behind drywall. So finding planks that are not warped, seriously knotted, suffering from cracks, split ends or are damaged by the forklift can be a laborious task particularly when talking 2x12x16'. My 'find and keep rate' can be as low as 1 in 10 where as with studs as high as 8 in 10. Not to end on a sour note, their rentals and nursery sections are good, price matching has yet to be a problem . . . . all that is missing is that free popcorn!

Please, please, please do not buy a washer dryer from Home Depot. They are all over you to buy and…read morethen they wash their hands of you once it is sold. Our Samsung washer top loader broke down after 6 weeks. 1700. plus dollars and I have no washing machine for Christmas. They said a repair man would call in 24 hrs. No call and we are sitting here with a broken expensive washing machine. Buy from Costco where they back their products or Sears where they have their own repair people. Better still do not buy any washing machine with electronic digital controls. So unhappy with Home Depot.

Not sure what is happening, but most of the temporary (?) floor staff don't make eye contact, move…read moreslowly and belligerently, don't speak English and are completely unhelpful while gathered in groups chatting/whispering amongst themselves in some other dialect. *The 'steady' local staff are working hard and usually converse with customers, smile, and get their jobs done. People working on the floor - should be approachable, clean, efficient & speak the language of the country they are fortunate to be living in. ( I don't care what colour your skin is, so don't go there. It's rude even if you were speaking a Germanic language with blonde hair and blue eyes.) No change rooms & self serve. BAD call. There is so much theft going on right before your eyes at the self serve - so the end of the change room is NOT because of this. Bring Cash and you'll never wait in the long lines! :)) Prices are getting WAY too high. You can find brand new, good quality, brand name clothes now for the same price - as some of the items on the shelves and hangers here. Makes being environmental more costly and a real chore now. But that was never the goal of this store any way. Kinda done with this place.

You can usually count on value village to be clean and organized and have nice clothes, but if your…read morelooking for good deal this is not the place for you. Clothes sell barely below retail value regardless of condition and home items are, believe it or not, even worse. Today on my recent trip I found a half burned Ikea SINNLIG vanilla candle for sale for 4.99. the normal retail price for a brand new one is 3.99. I also found the empty glass container of a OUI yogurt by Yoplait for sale for 2.99, the container WITH yogurt retails for 1.00 at grocery stores. Despite all this, this not a terrible place to shop around there is lots of nice stuff, but like I said, don't expect any steals. TLDR: clean, nice clothes and home goods, everything is criminally overpriced.
