Easy to miss, tragic if you do. The real deal is inside.

Wish it was open more than it is, that's for sure. Cutsey name...I challenge you to get it right. Some seriously good BBQ. Our second time to visit and it's every bit as good as the first. We heard about 'em from a spot they did on the radio with a local talk show host. Really nice people who most definitely know how to cook the different meats. While it's easy to drive by the building without noticing, it's 1500 ft from Gollihar heading towards the freeway. Nearly across the street from Oil Town Express. It's take-out only, no sit-down. No problem as they get the product out quickly. They're open 'til sell out and that does happen, so best not plan your visits towards closing. Our first visit I got a three meat plate and wife ordered the Notorious B.I.P. potato. So we had the spud (something wife says the owner made a deal of on the radio) and I ordered brisket, sausage and pork ribs, potato salad and beans. Brisket was exceptionally tender, with a nice bark, sausage had decent snap and flavor, the rib meat simple fell off the bones. I wish I had taken a photo of the plate as the helpings were generous (Oh, wait, I DID!). The BBQ sauce was tangy with a touch of heat but not overwhelming. I WOULD say to not order three meats unless you can really put away a lot of beef. I did it for the sake of trying their widest offerings. And of course, I shared with my wife. She loved her potato but ordered her second one (today) without the jalepeños. I did the same...no peppers for me! I have to point out that the potato salad is currently my favorite from a BBQ joint or restaurant. It's not mustard-y at all. It's just delicious. Come early and be hungry. I just wish they were open more than Friday and Saturday. I think they'd kill it. If I had a suggestion to add, it would be that maybe to offer a sauce with less spice (heat) and perhaps back off the pepper on the beans. Might be something to draw in customers with slightly more timid taste buds.

Brisket ribs and sausage a must try!!!

Great food. Everything I've ordered so far has been really good…read more We have been several times in the last couple of weeks that's how good it is. Everyone that works there is nice and go out of their way to help you. I'm usually in a hurry so i get our food to go. Going back this week.

I have mixed feelings on Surfside. Right off the bat, the parking lot (which is shared) as well as…read morethe inside and patio area are quite tiny. Not unusual for many of the businesses nearby, but fighting for a spot in the end may not be worth it. It seems the place is mostly attuned to locals. Light on any kind of greetings, you place your order inside and they'll bring it to you wherever you are sitting. The food came out in an appropriate time and after that, don't expect to see anyone again as it is largely self service with condiments, napkins, etc. available on a nearby cart where you also will leave your baskets at the end of the meal. The food itself was only ok. We ordered the happy hour mozzarella and marinara dippers (dear readers, this is simply a single grilled cheese cut into four triangles. Delicious! And only $4, but the wording on that could maybe have been better...) the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad, and the shrimp tacos. The chicken salad errs on the sweet side, which the brioche bun only adds to, and was in much need of a hot sauce which I did add but still wasn't the largest fan. The potato salad was really good, but the indication on the menu that it was spicy was misplaced - it is yellow, sure, but not spicy. As for the shrimp tacos, again not fantastic but the shrimp was cooked quite perfectly. The combination of ups and downs put this smack in the middle for me. We had planned to stay for a few drinks, but decided to hop to a few other local businesses to see if we could find a better vibe. Overall, I would say this is a good spot to feed kids quickly and on the cheap(ish) and maybe hang and chat with friends.
