Staff is very friendly and always do their best to keep the line moving. Brisket always has a great taste, however sometimes it's chewy and sometimes it's perfectly tender. Sausage isn't bad, but also isn't good. Had the turkey once and it was pretty good. Love sitting and eating inside. The bbq sauce inside the coke bottles looks a little weird, but you can ask for sauce in small containers. read more

The food was amazing, and the beef rib was large and juicy. The side items were delicious as well. We had potato salad, beans, and rice. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great as well. read more

Being a Central Texas native, I think this is pretty good BBQ. The thing is this - Julian's isn't the only restaurant that is gouging customers on price. Inflation, I get it. But there seems to be a feeding frenzy by greedy business owners in the name of rising prices. Julian's charged me almost $4 for large iced tea. Something I could make at home for 25 cents. This is getting out of hand, so hopefully businesses will get the idea and start taking a more long term view. Stop ripping people off to pad your profits. I won't go back, even for better than average BBQ. read more

April was super friendly and sweet she recommended as bunch of different things. But I got the sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese!! BEST BBQ EVER!! She even let me try the coleslaw freshly made, super great service!! Will definitely comeback in a heart beat!!!‍ read more

If you happen to look up "low and slow" in the Barbecue Dictionary, most certainly you'll find a reference to Julian's BBQ in there. THIS brisket is the definition of low and slow. There is a light smokiness, excellent, crispy bark and it's PLASTIC-fork-tender! But, I'm jumping ahead. When you step out of your car, you'll know immediately that you've arrived at a true barbecue joint. The wood fire smoke is quite evident and intoxicating. It should draw people for miles! Step inside and there are picnic tables with benches for seating with bottles of barbecue sauce ready for use. Prices are about the same as you'll find anywhere else. They do offer a "BIG RIB" that I must try sometime - if the brisket is this good, I can only imagine how awesome that rib must be. The service is exceptionally friendly. The nice lady at the register made some suggestions (try the jalapeno sausage for one). The choice of sides is rather limited, BUT they do have the basics: potato salad, coleslaw, beans, etc. I chose the brisket and sausage plate. I hadn't even made it to my table and they were already bringing my food out. GREAT service! The sauce is a bit thin and a little on the sweet side, but otherwise flavorful. But, that brisket....wow! That's what you want in a brisket. If only Julian's made their own sausage, this would be a 5-star review. But, they're using V&V's - which is pretty standard at most BBQ joints around....and rightly so. It's good sausage! If it weren't for the location, I would definitely be a frequent patron to Julian's......although, that might not do well for me healthwise. I still have to come back and get that rib.....and more brisket. read more

Julian's BBQ - UBER-tender brisket and V&V jalapeño sausage. Outstanding! - Barbeque Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

I really hate to do this and I really wanted to like this place especially because everyone was so nice. I asked what they recommended and I was told it was turkey Thursday and that I had to try the turkey. It was absolutely the driest most flavorless piece of meat I've ever eaten. The brisket was okay but nothing to write home about. The sausage was pretty good but kinda cold. I'm not a bbq sauce guy at all, as I think the meat should stand on its own. With that being said, I don't know what the hell that sauce is; but it's not good. I really like that I had the option to get tortillas instead of bread, the Mac n cheese and beers were also average at best. I'll give them another try next time I'm in town, but you gotta do something about that turkey! read more

Julian's BBQ - Three meat plate - Barbeque Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

Best BBQ around. Best combination of flavor and tenderness. I don't know how they get all that smokey flavor, but that's the key for me.

Visiting from Seattle are at one other BBQ place and enjoyed this place so much!! I got the 3 plate meat combo $16 (so much food big portions) I think it was enough to feed 2 people Brisket, pork ribs , pull pork & my son got the sausage. Ended up taking one of the combos leftovers for dinner for 2 that night. Food is so Smokey, tender & delicious. The BBQ sauce is so good as well. read more

Julian's BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

Julian's has simply the best bbq in Corpus Christi that we have found. I generally don't purchase bbq. Family members have always provided some pretty good meals. Unfortunately, the older cooks have passed on. Julian's puts the brisket & sausage on the plate like your dad used to (or your husband's uncle). The chicken and chopped beef are amazing as well. As a matter of fact, their sides are old school, awesome too! This place is worth the drive across town to pick up orders to go! read more

Writing this review with 2 Stars ... As a Texan, and a self proclaimed professional bbq judge, I know my bbq, so let's see how Julian's stands up against Mr. Texas' Food Judging Scale ... Came here with a coworker who said they had good bbq, well it's more like fair bbq. They do have reasonable prices, but I was shocked to see they charge .60¢ for a jalapeño !!! This my friend is an "Unforgivable Texas Sin" !!! Jalapeños should be FREE !!! So minus 1 Star for charging for jalapeños. I ordered the brisket plate which came with two sides. I got green beans and potato salad, both were good. The brisket is fair, meaning it needs some help or some sauce, it's not a stand alone eat by itself brisket, so it's a 2 Star brisket. Folks, their brisket is nothing to get excited about, or brag about, or even rate an OMG comment. What about their bbq sauce ??? Their bbq sauce downright sucks, so it can't help the brisket, so minus 1 Star for horrible sauce. Just a word of caution, the sauce bottles are open containers and flies can crawl into these openings, so be aware. More on flies ??? Yes ... I know this is Texas, and I'm a Native Texan, bred, born, and raised, but the flies were hungry too !!! We spent more time swishing away flies between bites so we couldn't even enjoy our meal. The dining area was about half full, and when I looked around, we were all doing the same synchronized dance, Shoo Fly Shoo !!! So minus 1 Star for the infestation of flies in the dining area. If I did my math correctly, yep I did, it's a 2 Star review, and the 2 Stars are for serving fair brisket. If you want great Texas BBQ, this ain't the place to get it, but if you want fair Texas BBQ while fightin' off flies, then this is the place for you !!! That's all I've got to say about that. read more

As a California Boy, when ever I am in the south or area where there is supposed to be good BBQ, I automatically go there. So I was thrilled when my company said they were sending me to Corpus Christi, TX . I was a little hesitant to try Julian's due to the only 3 Yelp reviews. But I took a chance and took two of my co workers to this place. The do not server beer and wine, but they do allow BYOB. Next door is a store, so that was the first stop. Check! Beers in hand, we stepped up to the counter to order. My goto for TX BBQ is of course brisket. I also ordered beans and sausage. I found it sort of strange that I did not get alot of smoke smell when I walked in. But it was late, so I figured the smoker was down for the night. At any rate, unfortunately, the brisket was not what I expected. I also asked my two co workers and they also agree. The brisket was WAY over cooked. See the pics. It is not supposed to be grey and falling apart. Also, ZERO smoke flavor. I am really not sure what happened! I also agree with Lydia B with the fat content. The sausage was just OK. actually the beans, again as Lydia said, was the best part. I am really hoping I am wrong about this place, and I look forward to people still giving it a shot. But dont expect much and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised and will post a review contrary. Or maybe Julian will see the post and fix some stuff over there. I am giving it 2 stars, since I am a nice guy and I dont want to totally blast the place. But I am really not sure if I will be back, unless I see some better reviews. read more

I was hoping the brisket would be better then the other times i had it but nope, i was wrong again. I ask for marble and i got dry ends of the brisket that was most lkly from a few days ago. The reason I'm writing this is because it's not the first time. It's bad when you spend 17.00 for a two meat plate and get this. i should of went to KFC or McDonald's but i wanted brisket. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Extremely rude and lacked customer service. Ordered the 1 meat plate with mac and rice. Noticed that the cutter was down to the end of the brisket ( last 1/2 lb or so) which looked dry and that part of the brisket i don't typically enjoy. I kindly asked for my order to be cut from a fresh brisket. I know i was heard because the manager, cashier, as well as the cutter asked me to repeat my request. I was blatantly ignored and i witnessed the cutter continue to cut my order from the same piece of dry meat. As they served me my tray, i asked them them if it was from a fresh brisket (knowing very well it wasn't). The cutter and the helper asked what was wrong with the meat they served me. I simply replied i don't like that part of the brisket. I asked if my request was too much trouble for them and where the customer service was. As a paying customer i expected to receive a little more respect and accommodation. The helper snatched my tray away from me and told the cutter "he just wants a fresh brisket" while gesturing to me. I witnessed the cutter pulled out not a fresh brisket but a bigger piece of dried out brisket that was not the marbled brisket i had requested and cut two very dry slices and toss them on my tray. The helper then shoves the tray back into my hand while looking away stating " yeah next time were not going to do that". My request and cut of meat was never met in the first place. This was all witnessed by the manager which did nothing to please his customer. I will not be returning to this establishment nor will I recommend this place to anyone else. If asked i will tell of this encounter to anyone inquiring about the establishment. Unacceptable. 10/10 would not recommend to a friend. read more

This was a pretty good place for sure. We were looking for that last bbq stop before leaving Texas and we found this place. There were cars everywhere, so that told me from the get it must be good. Walked in ordered, the bbq was immediately prepared in the basket and offered bread etc. you then take your food to the benches inside and feast away. It was darned good bbq. Very plush tender meat literally falling off the bone. We walked out very pleased and hope to visit again. Nice people also. We were promptly greeted and treated like good old fashioned customer service should always be. This place is a little gem if you are looking for that bbq craving. read more

I'm from Austin and also do competition BBQ cooking. So when I'm out traveling I try different BBQ venues. Julian's is a real wood fired pit restaurant with all the meats and sides one would expect. Today I had the brisket plate with potato salad and beans. The sides were okay not the best or the worst. The brisket however was excellent! Not a huge smoke ring but the flavor was there. Juicy, moist and tender with a beautiful bark! My buddy had the ribs and he said they were exceptionally done as well! I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Julian's BBQ - That's one big rib - Barbeque Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

I had passed this several times and it's been on my radar for awhile since I'm always on the hunt for yummy BBQ. I finally had the opportunity to give this place a try yesterday and it didn't disappoint. I can't say it knocked my socks off, but it was solid. I ordered the two meat plate with fajita and brisket. For my sides I chose green beans and rice. When I got my order all the meat on my plate seemed to taste the same, the only difference was how thin or thick it was sliced. I liked the thinner sliced meat overall, but that could just be a personal preference. The sides were good and I especially loved the homemade tortillas. Now for the sauce. I found it strange when I looked on the menu that they charge for sauce. What kind of BBQ place charges for sauce?! I didn't order any because we were dining in and I noticed some on the table. As it turns out the sauce was very thin and tasted very vinegary/tangy. I really didn't care for it at all. In fact they had some Worcestershire sauce also on the table that I added to my sauce to try and tone down the flavor and add a little smoke. It helped, but I ended up skipping the sauce. If the meat had more flavor this wouldn't have even been an issue. The staff's friendliness definitely stood out to me and you could see they take pride in their establishment. Everything was clean and they went out of their way to be helpful. read more

Clean, friendly, order line moved along, ordered "lean" sliced brisket sandwich. Meat was piled on the toasted bun or they offer Texas toast if you prefer. Standard pickles and onions are in dining area. Brisket had a distinct substantial bark, which I enjoyed. Very smoky favor and seasoned nicely. Basic brisket sandwich that satisfied! Price point with one side and a drink was a reasonable $11.36 No complaints or rants, I would return. read more
