This is the second Toppers I had visited in Ventura County. My car was dropped off at Bug Brand Tires for maintenance and I decided to walk down East Main towards the shops and stopped by for a bite. They have a salad bar here and plenty of seating but since today feels like the first cool day in the past week, I decided to sit out on the patio. I order a lunch size pizza (includes 2 toppings) and a fountain drink. I got a sausage and olive pizza. For size reference, it's the size of a ball cap or a small salad plate. Definitely is a 1 serving pizza but plenty to feel satisfied with. Pizza is as good as the Oxnard harbor location. read more

Went with family for pizza and wasn't disappointed. Had a medium combination, fed the 3 of us. No complaints! My first time at a salad bar since before Covid restrictions. It was maintained and everything I had selected was fresh. They sell beer wine when ordering or you can go next door to Transmission Brewery and get a craft beer. ( The two businesses share seating and there's plenty) Pizza arrived in about 20-25 minutes which gave us time to reconnect with family members. I will come back. read more

Fast service, fun little spot. Greeted quickly and was out the door with my pickup within minutes. Garlic bread on ciabatta was excellent! The sauce on the pizza was seasoned well, the toppings were loaded but the middle wasn't quite baked through. But the edges were awesome. Very overrated and such a disappointment. Customer service at the desk is great but on the floor people are truly rude. the establishment is clean for the most part and the salad bar is maintained well. They do not offer foil paper or a regular to go boxes, only boxes that can fit that overrated pizza. The pizza itself is thin and really greasy making napkins a necessity. I believe their soda machine isn't being cleaned as often as it should, to maintain the flavor of soda because the flavor was awful. Huge potholes in the back so be careful taking the alley as a way out. Will not return. read more

Lunch with coworker ... and we were trying to figure out where to go! Toppers never disappoints. Founded in my hometown of Oxnard, it is def a favorite!!! I had been to this local before years ago. I usually go to the one in Oxnard on Gonzales or the one on Front Street in Ventura. This is an older location that could use some remodeling and upgrading. I would love for their older locations to get some love :) Our pizzas were perfect. Came up quick! We were out within our allotted lunch time! Woohooo! My only rec is .. if you're looking for a nicer place- I'd recommend going to their Front Street location here in Ventura or their location in Oxnard by the harbor. Love the views at those two the most!!! If you're not an Oxnard hater .. my favorite is the harbor location right by the water! Regardless of which location you choose .. great pizza! I love this place. We have been going to the original restaurant for years. I don't remember a single bad experience, either dining in or delivery. We had delivery last night of delicious pizza, salad, and drinks. The pizza was 1/2 and 1/2 exactly as we ordered (easy first-time online order), and the drinks were ice cold. I love toppers. I always have and I always will. However, it's super expensive so we don't go all the time. But it's nice for big groups or family get together and we can sit outside and spread out. They have delicious pizza and a delicious salad bar. I like their chicken, garlic, pizza, and really all of their toppings and options. I don't have anything to complain about. Their servers have always been nice and the service has always been quit in speed. It's not fast, but it's worth it and it's not slow either. It does get very busy so if you don't get there on time right a good time, there is no place to sit, which is a total bummer, but that's not their fault or anything that they can control. Ranch dressing is top-tier for your salads or your pizza. I like that you can just order a huge side of the ranch. read more

A large group of us came here on a Saturday night and were, fortunately, able to find seating on the patio. It was winter, but there were heaters. The food came very quickly and was pretty good. I wish the patio tables were more comfortable, but it is a very large and accommodating patio. The pizza is good and still relatively affordable as far as pizza goes for a dine in place. Reminds me of being young and going to dine-in pizza huts. read more

I wasn't familiar with the place, yet I decided to make the move because of the local appeal. Although the parking lot was packed, there was plenty of seating inside. Staff was prompt & polite. We tried the "Creamy Garlic Chicken" pizza. So smooth and tasty, if felt as if they had hugged the chicken, before it met it's final destination. I'm not a pizza person but boy this place actually left me speechless. I shared an order of poppers and a large pizza with one other person and we were able to finish the whole order. We got the hot honey pizza which was really really good, I'd go as far to say it was a 10/10. The crust was thin and I finished every piece in their entirety when I usually never eat the crust. That's some high praise coming from me. I also usually never eat more than one slice and I ate multiple slices of this pizza so easily, it was so good. These two are my top 1 and 1.1 then the one by the harbor is good Ambiance. Back to the food, Toppers pizza is magical, mystic really. There's no wrong way to eat Toppers, if someone says you are wrong, then seriously rethink being friends with them in your life. Toppers Pizza seriously pisses me off. I want to hate it with all my heart, but I can't because it's delicious. There's general agreement on this topic. Everybody loves Toppers. Ask just about anyone from around here where to get the best pizza. I guarantee about 9 out of 10 will tell you Toppers. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. The sauce is as tomato-ey AF. And they don't skimp on the cheese. The customer service is on point. Friendly and efficient, the employees treat you like you've been coming here for years, even if it's your first visit. Restaurant work is brutally hard, but you'd never know it by observing the employees here. They're always smiling and personable. So, Mikey, what's not to like? What's your problem? I'll tell you. It's the oven. I hate their oven. I only like old school, traditional pizza ovens. Toppers' oven is one of those new-fangled ovens that almost everyone uses these days. I'm convinced traditional ovens produce a better quality pizza. I'm fanatical about pizza. I used to work at a pizza place with a traditional oven, (Mr F's in Richmond, CA. Been closed for years). One of the most enjoyable jobs I ever had. The experience of working at a place with a traditional oven left me with strong opinions about how pizza should be made and baked. See, that's the problem. My mom says this is her favorite pizza place since returning to Ventura in 2018. We tried a medium pizza with olives and mushrooms, light sauce and light cheese, for delivery on one night of my visit. It came in about 15 minutes by a really cheerful delivery man who had a ginormous pizza bag with our tiny ass pizza in it. Lol. It was $29 for this tiny pizza that two little people like ourselves were able to finish that evening. The cat really enjoyed sitting on the empty box so technically all 3 of us enjoyed the pizza. Without the extra sauce and cheese it was a little dry and more crackery than my mom probably liked but she's too polite to admit it. :) One of my last days in Ventura, we went to Toppers to pick up a large of her favorite, the Vegetarian Combo. Parking lot is a decent size but I think it might get tight on a weekend. You need to go check for your pizza at pickup because they don't call your name or number. That was something that was only picked up because of our OCD about waiting and it had just come out so all was well. It was the size of what you'd expect a medium to be for almost $40. (This food inflation / supply chain excuse is getting just plain obnoxious.) My mom loved it. I'm not really big on zucchini or bell peppers but if those weren't on there, I'd be 100% getting this combo every time. All ingredients were so good and the salad bar was perfect to satisfy fresh vegetable need.
