I'm a tough critic with contractors. Detail-oriented, a bit of a perfectionist, and probably not…read morethe easiest homeowner to work with. So I don't say this lightly: Laguna Landscaping is by far the best contractor I've ever worked with.
We've now used them at two houses. After getting a pool built by a different company, we brought them in to redo all of our landscaping, and working with Frank has been seamless.
It was a large project and every detail was accounted for. With all contracting projects there are minor mistakes and oversights, because as the homeowner I know exactly what I envisioned and they're juggling three or four jobs. When our pool was being built by Denali Pools, I felt like I had to project manage every step. Laguna was the polar opposite.
The team was always happy, always polite, even waved when you saw them. Frank turned up after we'd finalized the designs and suggested an extra planter and a tweak to the paving stones, both better than what we'd planned.
When something wasn't right, there was no defensiveness. It's a large project, we expect a few tweaks. For example, the wrong lights got installed along the pathway. I contacted Frank and it wasn't a debate, it was "we'll change them." Then he came back and told me the lights I described were different from the original plan, he checked that I actually wanted spotlights, and confirmed before ordering. He listened to what I'd asked for over the original plan.
The communication was on point. Every question got answered, and his suggestions were consistently better than anything I'd anticipated. Little things too, like laying drop cloths after the pool work so nobody trailed dirt through the yard. That care shows in the output and along the way.
Laguna also does regular yard maintenance, and after this experience we're moving all our ongoing landscaping to them.
My one hesitation going in was cost. This isn't a cheap project and Laguna isn't a cheap company. However, they are worth every dollar. At our previous house we'd had a cheaper company build a retaining wall, and Laguna had to come fix it. The quality, the detail, the thinking outside the box, the double-checking before they order anything, it's incredible.
Next level service, next level professionalism, next level care. I'd recommend them to anyone, always. If there was a rating higher than 5 stars I would give it to them.
