While they so graciously refunded the cost of the oil change, which essentially admitted guilt, they refused to reimburse the cost of the tow, repairs, hotel & Lyft. After calling Valvoline to make a claim, they said I would get a call back. Instead I had to call again after 4 days without hearing back from them. Ralph, the area manager, was absolutely rude and unapologetic. He is not a good representative of this company.

Upon opening the hood the first thing I noticed was that the cap for coolant reservoir was sitting next to the tank as was not put back on. This was holding the hood up. She called back to the location and spoke to the Manager, he said she can come back and he will "top it off" I had told her to demand a full system flush. The manager said he can't offer that without seeing it, and seemed very disinterested. He never asked her for her name, invoice number or specifics, nor did he offer to schedule. Noting here that VIOC address concerns by asking you to contact the care team. I sat on hold for 15 mins twice and their system dropped me. I then used the chat feature and was able to file a claim. I was told local management would call within two days, but usually sooner. I asked for an area/district manager or higher leadership since the local manger was already dismissive. UPDATE - They have contacted me on the claim and they are flushing the system and refunding the initial service. This is the resolution I was expecting.

I brought my car in on August 10th for an oil change, tire rotation, and to check a service light on the dash. About an hour later I got a call about it, and was given an outrageous quote to repair the root cause of the light, which turned out to be my alternator. On that call I wasn't given any real explanation or even a breakdown of the cost. That's also where I learned about a diagnostic fee I would be charged even if I went ahead with the repair, something I was never told about upfront. I declined the repair. After that call, I got quotes from a dealership and two other local shops for the same alternator repair. DiMaggio was going to charge me roughly 30 percent more than the dealership and nearly 70 percent more than the other local shops. Nobody called to let me know my car was ready, so I showed up assuming it was done. At pickup, I was charged for services I never approved, with no explanation until I pushed for one. My invoice said I had been given a courtesy vehicle inspection, but I didn't actually receive the results until after I had already complained. When I asked for the manager's contact information in person, I was handed a business card with an incorrect email address on it. I had to track down his correct email myself just to reach him. He did call the following day, and I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because of that call, but the conversation mostly defended his team's handling of things rather than offering any real path to fixing it. Because of that, I ended up taking my car to another shop instead. This experience was more than terrible. It didn't make sense on paper or even in person. Avoid this shop if you can.

Thankfully the vehicle is still in warranty phase so I took it back to Kayser in Sauk where they determined that no codes were stored and they performed a tire sensor relearn where all the sensors learn and are now showing the tire pressures again on the screen. Exceptional Kindness and Service…read more I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and had to travel to Madison for an appointment with the VA Heart Transplant Clinic. Because of serious health problems related to military chemical exposure, being stranded away from home without a reliable vehicle would have put me in a very difficult situation. The owner of Budd's Garage personally took the time to check my vehicle, clean what needed to be cleaned, reset the engine sensors, and make sure the vehicle was operating properly so I could safely make the trip home to Minnesota. After taking the time to help a complete stranger from out of town, he did not charge me a single penny. There is a difference between simply operating an auto-repair business and genuinely caring about the person who walks through your door. I experienced the latter at Budd's Garage. The owner's kindness, integrity, and willingness to help me when I genuinely needed it will not be forgotten. He was rude and snippy and told me I would ruin his "$100,000 machine" with this repair. And maybe I should go and talk to the friend who helped me in the first place for ideas on how to fix it.
