I usually don't do mall nail salons or the various pop up salons that seem to show up one day, disappear the next. However, while in New York, I needed to get my nails done. Like, NEEDED. They were a hot mess as I had to go to New York from Florida quite unexpectedly. This particular shop, located in the Smithhaven Mall was very clean. As most of these salons, they told me they would take me in 10 minutes, and they did. There are a few things I look for when getting my nails done in other places than my own personal salon in Florida. I watch that they use different nail files for each client. I make sure that they have an autoclave for sterilization of their instruments that they actually USE, not one that is sitting there for show. I watch that they use face masks while doing manicures and gloves while doing pedicures. I also watch closely that salons do not use the same instruments on the next customer, but rather, take a fresh set of tools from the autoclave. Why do I do all of this? Because, as a surgical nurse, I have had the extreme displeasure of having to remove women's fingers and/or toes due to severe osteomyeltis, a disease where the bone "gets sick" and infected and can't be treated with antibiotics. How do most of these infections start? In dirty nail salons with unsanitary practices. This salon, in my 10 minutes of observation, met all that criteria. The tech who did my nails was very nice. He literally got me out of there in one hour after doing a set of acrylic fills and gel polish. The only thing that I might want to add here is that you cannot tip the techs on your credit card. You need to tip them in cash, which makes for an uncomfortable situation when you don't carry cash on you. However, there is an ATM not that far from the salon where you can pull a little cash out in order to tip your tech. The prices are fair ($28 for a fill with gel polish is more than reasonable!). I wouldn't hesitate to go get my nails done there again. The reason I am not giving them the 5th star is because of the mall location. It is crowded, annoying, loud and when I get my nails done, I prefer a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. read more

1) Absolutely NO professionalism. There were no other customers there when I walked in for a manipedi, but in the middle of my pedicure, a couple of people started to trickle in. The owner(?) yelled at the lady who was doing my pedi to take care of another customer, so she LEFT ME for a good 20 minutes with my feet just propped up and only half of my toes done. IT JUST DIDN'T MAKE SENSE! 2) She tried to use the same tools she used for the guy before me, so I had to ask her if she could use new ones. 3) Another customer accidentally dropped a nail polish and it went all over the owner's pants. The owner got really irritated and made that girl sit while she yelled for someone to bring her acetone. She kept complaining loudly that it wouldn't come off and how she really liked her pants all while pointing her finger at that girl. It just didn't seem very professional of her to do that and made the whole atmosphere very uncomfortable. 4) Here is the picture I showed the lady of the color and design I wanted without the acrylic. And the 2nd picture is this is how my nails actually turned out. I asked her many times in the beginning if she would be able to do that design and she said "yes". But when I asked her again near the end she said,"Of course....if I can find the tape..". Then she had the audacity to say "Looks just like your picture!!" when she was done. My friends and I had a good laugh over this. read more

So I was a walk in client here because I needed my nails done before the new year. I called and made an appointment. I got a guy (not sure his name). The whole time he kept filing my skin and when I pulled my hand away he kept giving me dirty looks. He didn't even clean my nails before putting the dip powder on. All he did was filed. I do hair for a living so my nails tend to be stained from hair dye. I never have a problem where I normally go, but this time you can still see the black from my nails under the polish. I didn't say anything and payed the $40. They gave me a free lotion because they knew I hated it. Very disappointed. read more

You get what you pay for. I heard through the grapevine that this place was great, and also had great prices. Decided to try it out, owner was a little nasty but I got over it. $35 for French gel manicure. Next day the polish started to crack, and a few days later the gel started to peel. Went back to the place and was told that I needed a new manicure and said it will be $35 again. I've gotten gel manicures at other places where there was no cracking or peeling of the nail polish. I learned my lesson, it might be cheap but I'd rather spend the extra $10-$15 for a better manicure. read more

This is by far the worst nail salon I've ever been to!! My friend and I went in for a pedi and a full acrylic set and when we got there they made us sit down before picking out a color which I thought was strange. As I'm sitting at the desk my nail tech starts filing my nails and making fun of how short they are. I blew it off and then I asked her if I can pick a color and she says something (very fast I might add) about gel color. So I said, no I am not getting gel I am getting an acrylic set and she's pushes the gel some more and insisted that it was for the acrylic (which the sign said was $27) and I just went with it and stated that as long as it's still 27 I'll do it. Again in a very fast and this time soft voice she said no it will be 37. I was outraged!!! She would have done all of it and I would have been paying that. So that was over with, I told her I didn't want to do the gel and she was actually mad. Next I told her that I wanted an oval shape and they actually told me that the price would be $30 instead of $27 just to file them as oval. Are you freaking kidding me?? I argued with them and they eventually gave in and told me they would just do it. The woman who I argued with then refused to do my nails so they placed me with another guy and again he made fun of how short my nails were. My nails did not come out even and they are not even oval...I don't even know what shape they are. As my friend and I are finally now sitting down to dry our nails we noticed their stand up sign that was outside. It was double sided! On the side that we saw was facing out their full set acrylic price was $27 and the side that was facing in said the price was $25. They flip it to be more expensive on the weekends. They also charge a $1 fee for credit card charges also. It's just crazy how expensive this all was and the quality of their work is dog shit. I will never ever come back here ever again and I cannot recommend this nail salon to anyone. read more

I came here thinking it looked like a really nice place and was very excited to finally get my nails on again I had asked for the dip powder with tips and he did acrylic instead even though I told him about 5 times I don't want acrylic I want the dip powder with tips and he explained to me that having tips with the dip powder isn't as strong as the acrylic which I find in fact to be the complete opposite so not only did I not get what I asked for the quality of the nails are horrible I've already broken 2 nails after one week and my nail Polish is chipping and it's supposed to be gel nail Polish I am completely never going to this place again! read more

Awful literally awful couldn't follow design and took way too long for simple manicure

I told I wanted a regular nail polish also told him not to cut my nails and yet the guy cuts all my nails off and rips my whole pinky nail off and mind you he doesn't take off the rest of the sns off. I'm extremely upset and my nail is bleeding under the nail polish read more

I will not lie I like this nail salon a lot depending on who is available to help me. I am a frequent customer and I find that by me going in there multiple times I am able to know who does good nails and who does bad nails. For the most part everyone there does good nails besides maybe two or three people. Last time I got my nails there was by a Vietnamese lady who i would not recommend going back to her. read more

Got these done almost 5 days ago the gel polish chipped as long as two nails broke. I have acrylic on top of my actual nails and since the acrylic broke my nail broke as well I haven't had a nail break in years. The shape was not what I asked for then when I expressed it she ignored me. Would not go back and waste my money read more

I gave this place a 1 star because i liked how i didnt have to wait when i went in. Otherwise i dont recommend this place at all. The girl who took me in burned my fingers after she filed my nail done and after intold her that she us hurting me she kept going i told her to stop or im leaving. She stopped, then she couldnt stopped complaining that ny nails are short which i prefer since i work typing most of my day. I wanted to get a Gel overlay on my natural nails. I dont know if it is normal for when ypu put your hand inside the uv gel it suppose to keep burning but they did. After a while the place started getting busy and people who had appointments had to wait because they were working on people who were walk in, i believe one of the ladies is the owner Tina she was aruging with another employee and they wouldnt stop, it made the place uncomfortable meanwhile they were xhildren inside. Im glad i left because im not returning back!!!! Ps i started to look into my nails today and they were already lifting! read more

This place is my go-to because it's close to me and for the most part, affordable considering its dental acrylic. I have to watch them and make sure I like it otherwise, they come out pretty sloppy. But they are mostly understanding. read more

I will honestly never go back. I went in for a manicure and was sat down right away. Great. Well the woman who was doing my nails was awful! My nails are short but the aren't super long either. She struggled to file them and used 3 different nail files. My nails had already been shaped so there shouldn't have been much to file. I finally told her they looked fine. Apparently they don't use cuticle oil they use alcohol. Never in my life have I had that happen. Then she started to use HER NAILS TO PUSH MY CUTICLES! I had to tell her 3 times to NOT do that and that it's completely unsanitary. I was just about to walk out I was so mad. She started to pain my nails and got nail polish all over my fingers and did a horrible job cleaning it up. At that point I just wanted to get out of there. There is NOTHING top ten about this place. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Go somewhere else. That is all. This place doesn't appear to see the value in all of it's customers. Made me wait while attempting to take another customer who was clearly a walk in as well. Had a nail repaired and polish changed. I now have one eagled shaped nail and a terrible polish job that I could have done at home. read more

If I can select 0 star, I would have done that. I got the gel manicure there. The service was so bad and their skill was terrible. The gel polish is broken after only 1 day!!! That's the worst manicure that I ever got. read more

Horrible customer service with bad attitudes. Regularly close down early. Would look elsewhere for a better salon. Will lie about wait time if they don't feel like providing a service. Very bad service. The salon is understaffed so they all multitask too much. They try to do your nails whilst doing another persons toes, it's ridiculous. She also tries to overcharge you, so be careful. read more

Worst place ever ! DO NOT GO HERE !!! The staff is extremely rude and don't listen to a word you say , I went here because they are open late well huge mistake on my part. I got a Manicure and pedicure. I was seated right away which was good . But the women who painted my nails was rushing to finish . She did a horrible job on my toes got paint all over and didn't do a good job on cleaning off the paint.... once she finished with my toes ( which looks horrible) she started on my nails, when asked if I wanted them cut down I said no she then proceeded to cut one of my nails when I said what are you doing I said no I didn't want them cut she just stared at me and said they look better cut Place is super unsanitary They don't use cuticle oil they use alcohol read more

I needed a nail salon to go to after hours and i went to this salon twice before! Things were great before. Today my nails came out ok! Toes were very disappointing! No big color selection either. Once I complained to the nail technician she began to talk in another language very RUDELY! I will NOT be back again. Third time was a charm and very disappointing! read more

Very good service, my gel manicure came out beautiful, friendly staff as well! Reasonable prices

I got my nails done there once. I was getting a gel french manicure and when i got to the salon the only person that was available was some guy. I don't know if other works are the same or not. He did my nails and the end product didn't look nice at all. He could hardly draw the white tips and he didn't cover some of the corners. Also the gel started to come off the week after, which is not ok. I don't think i will ever go there again read more

They ruined my nails with that electric grinder when scraping off a tiny amount of residual gel polish from previous manicure. Nails should be soaked, not grinded. She thinned them and they actually feel sensitive and have broken. They did this to make it easier for them without regard to my nail health. Also tried to push a gel manicure which I did not want. Do not go to this salon. They are rude as well. read more

This place is a circus. Rude technicians who are rough to the point of painful and the job done is awful. nails are crooked and messy and it is obvious when you are told to tip before the job is even done that something is up, either the work is not going to be up to standard or they are going to base the work off of the tip. Throughout the hour in the salon I witnessed at least three people in addition to myself openly unhappy about their nails- one woman even had to come back the next day demanding that the job be fixed for a discount. The plain old manicure isn't that bad but there's plenty of places that could do better for less. read more

The most horrible service I ever had. I came in to the salon 30 minutes to closing time and it was only 3 technicians working. Two of them were working on one customer. So I waited my turn to get my one nail fixed. Once i sat down in the chair she began to poke at my broken nail and of course I jumped because it was still sore. She said "I can't work on your nail" so by that time I've already been waiting to get it fixed and that really pissed me off. She began to go back and forth with me arguing that I'm in too much pain to have it fixed.. I couldn't believe that she had the nerve to tell me how much pain I was in. I obviously wouldn't be trying to get it fixed if it was that bad. After a few minutes of going back and forth, she started to work on my nail. Once I asked if they had the color on my nails she began with her attitude. I tried explaining that it takes 2 nail polish coats because that's how they got the color. She said "you can go back to your salon to fix it". At that point I just wanted her to be done with my nail because i clearly came to the wrong salon. I've gotten my nails done at different salons and never experienced such bad customer service. I don't plan on ever going back and i hope they don't treat everyone else like that read more

Worst nail salon I've ever been to. After saying they wasn't a wait, i was sitting in the pedi chair for a half hour. My manicure didn't last 24 hours. Waste of money, would never go back... STAY AWAY! read more

I was looking to get my eyelashes dyed, which I have had done several times before. I was unable to get into my usual place, and noticed this place at the mall did it. Many places don't offer eyelash tinting, so I was excited to try them out. It was a very short wait and soon I was in the waxing room. I tell the girl I wanted an eyelash tint and the color I always get (black brown- very popular). She didn't have it, so we agreed on medium brown. She gets to work. Immediately, something felt different, and I realized she was putting fake eyelashes on me, This is not what I wanted at all! I told her that, and she continued. At that point, I figured I'd go with it and try it out as I had never had them before. All said and done, the eyelashes are long and dark- but I think they look horrible on me, and not even a few hours later, they are starting to peel off too. I will never go back there again. read more

So upset with this place called Top Ten Nails! It was my first time getting my eyelashes extensions. I was told that my eyelashes were going to look natural and will last for a month. Unfortunately, the first night when I went to sleep and closed my eyes, I felt so uncomfortable, because it felt like I have rocks under my eyelids. Not only that, they started to fall after three days. The service was done by Lisa and I do not recommend this place at all to anybody who wants eye lashes extensions. I paid $80.00 for the CRAP and unpleasant eyelashes extensions!!!! read more

Me and my friend went to this place since we were already in the mall and wanted to get a mani pedi when we were getting the pedicure they were very rough rude and didn't understand what we were saying it was so bad that we only got the pedicure read more

I wouldn't even give this place a star if I didn't have to. ITS AWFUL. The owner is so rude and nasty. She said she would be with me in 5 min every 5 mins. When I tried to leave she basically chased me through the mall trying to get me to come back. When I was seated she would hit me every time she wanted me to move my hand closer. I was then given to another lady who literally cut my finger open by filing. She then continued to pour some kind of liquid on my open cut to stop the bleeding. It turned my blood brown and burned. She talked the entire time and kept stopping to watch a Chinese video on her phone which was completely irritating and the opposite of relaxing. Finally at the end, my sister was told her manicure was 35 when it was suppose to be 30. When we questioned the charge no one could tell us why. When the man came out who did her nails he said it was because she got a round shape..... first my sister was never asked nor did she want a round shape. Second it isn't even displayed on their price chart or anywhere in the store that the shape costs extra. In addition if she was getting a shape that costs extra she should have been notified. THEY ARE CROOKS. They make up prices as they go. Long story short we refused to pay the extra $5 and the man yelled at us to never come back. LOL my pleasure!!! Please never come to this place. Multiple people I have spoken to have horror stories here. It should be shut down!!!! read more

Was at the mall shopping earlier and decided to stop in for a mani/pedi, nothing fancy just the basics. Not my usual go-to place but thought it couldn't be bad right? Wrong! I was hardly greeted as I walked in and after asking me several times what I wanted I was instructed to sit down and then to pick a color and then to sit down somewhere else and told "5 minutes, 5 minutes" So ... fast forward about 30 minutes later I was instructed to move to a different station and pick a color - I politely showed the woman the color I had chosen and she responded with "ok 5 minutes" I waited patiently for another 15 minutes or so then when I asked nicely if it would be much longer because I had somewhere I needed to be the woman stopped in the middle of another customers pedicure and ran over and began to remove my polish and asked me again what I wanted and to pick a color. Again I responded, a manicure and pedicure and showed her the color. She literally told me "no, we don't have in gel, you want gel right?" At this point I was beginning to wonder if I should just go so I said one last time "I just want a manicure and pedicure with this color" I was told "no pick another color" After that I very nicely said, "it's ok, never mind, I actually need to leave" The woman literally held my hand down and told me "no you pick a color" Luckily I was able to get out of there - seriously ! Overall the complete opposite of my expectations - a semi-relaxing mani/pedi, again, nothing fancy, just the basics - turned into a drill down of questions and commands - very abrasive, confusing, and unprofessional. read more

changed owners, not worth the money (or the pain- they've cut me the past two times I went).

Worst Salon ever. Went there to get a blue gel color and in less than two days the whole thing turned brown and chipped. My friend went there to get her nails done and when she got there she was told by the technician that the mani and pedi would be 35, the bill ended up being over double the price and on top they did a terrible job with her nails. The french manicure she wanted was done very fast and sloppy. The technician completely missed the edges of the nails and it was very bulky because of the mistakes she made that she tried covering up. I told them to redo the whole thing and they did because money back was not an option even after they took everything off. While she took off her color she scraped the whole polish off with the filer. she seemed very angry that she had to redo the whole thing because she made my friend bleed. Didn't even bother cleaning it she just painted over the blood! Even after she was done she didn't apologize and it looked worse than before but a refund was not an option. When i tried asking for who was in charge they would not give me an answer and acted like they didn't knew each other. Terrible service. read more
