Ok, it's my fault my dog is overweight. I blame my mother for raising me to equate love with food…read more I digress. Shadow has a bum leg and after many xrays, exams, mandated rest, etc, we went to BARC for a second opinion before we opted for surgery (Spoiler alert: he still needs surgery) We had 2 vets and an assistant evaluate Shadow. Range of motion, gait analysis, fancy equipment to determine how much pressure he was exerting on each paw when standing; it was a very comprehensive exam. After evaluating our pup, we ran though their diagnosis and recommendations. Our questions were answered, a plan of action was explained, and options given. Although the recommendation included surgery, we feel good about that choice. This will our pup's second surgery (we did the other leg two years ago). Everyone was so kind and patient. Shadow was treated liked the loved family member he is and not like a casual pet. My husband and I were held accountable for his weight loss and his care plan is complete. After the surgery, he will be back for rehab!

He didn't walk or stand after the first 2-3 weeks of his surgery + only used his front hindlegs to help himself get around. However, after getting a second opinion, and being referred to BARC from his primary vet, our lives have truly changed. The doctors, PTs (Dr. Amy, Erin, Vlessyn), and the Rehab Assistants (Deja, David, Jessica to name a few!) have been so helpful in his therapy sessions. We've done acupuncture and physical therapy for the last 1.5 months and have already seen incredible improvement. Zion can now stand (in a neutral, fixated stance) and take small steps using his back hindlegs. Both of which we were told would be impossible from his surgeon! I'm looking forward to continue working with their team and helping Zion with his road to recovery :)

This was our very first visit, and we were immediately impressed by how caring, knowledgeable, kind, and transparent they are. They take as much time as you need, explain everything in detail, and truly welcome questions. My boy - Popeye - absolutely loved them--even at his very first visit. The front office staff, Princess and Nikki, are absolutely delightful--so warm, friendly, and welcoming from the moment you walk in. I also had the chance to speak with other pet parents there, and every single one raved about the results they've seen. Lauryn and Dr. Heidi treated my doggy son and me like family, as if we had known them forever. I deeply appreciated their honesty and transparency--they genuinely care about the health and well-being of their patients. I highly recommend this facility, even if you live far away like I do--it is absolutely worth the drive. If you love your furry family member, this is the place to take them.

TLDR: Animals Only offers superior PT and rehabilitation for our precious fur babies. You and your…read moreloved ones will feel properly cared for in their beautifully balanced personal and professional clinic. While every case is, of course, unique, we are SO thrilled to share that we have had enormous success with our young pup's dual hind MPL - from limping to now sprinting about, much of which is thanks to the hard work and care Animals Only provided to our pack. When our 9 month old, mixed, small breed puppy, Zaniyah, had a minor slip and fall and could not bear weight on her left hind, exhibiting a limp, we got her checked immediately, thinking she had a minor accident. It ended up being more than we thought: she was diagnosed with MPL grade 3 in her left hind, grade 1-2 in her right hind, and both her hind legs exhibiting bone deformity. We knew we were in for a long haul into territory we had never ventured. I immediately sought consultations with rehab clinics to get her what she needed, in hopes to bypass surgery, if possible. Our primary vet, Dr. Stuart at Coast View, suggested Animal's Only along with other clinics. From the moment I called and spoke with Todd, Animal Only's co-owner and manager, I knew they were going to be a great fit for our baby girl, and would offer a plan tailored to her needs. Animal's Only's convenient location , positive, care-forward vibe from the team and Dr. Schuda's kind, supportive and knowledgeable care only solidified my confidence. Zaniyah loved her new friends, right away, too! Our baby girl was gently pre-habilitated with AO for about 2.5 months to get her ready for surgery, mainly utilizing gym sessions and water/hydrotherapy. While the nature of Zaniyah's condition in her left hind ended up requiring surgery, we were able to coordinate with her speciality surgeon in LA alongside AO to give her the best rate of success and full recovery. Dr. Schuda was diligent with keeping Zaniyah's professional team updated, ensuring comprehensive care. Once Zaniyah healed enough from her surgery, approx a month post-op, we resumed PT under AO's care which lasted about 4.5 months. We added some laser therapy to her care alongside the gym and hydro treadmill. We also opted for Adequan injections to help her joints have the proper fluid flow, encouraging healing. We were exceedingly diligent with her at-home care and exercises, adhering to detailed instruction given by Dr. Schuda and the team. From the beginning of our time doing pre-hab/pre-surgery thru her rehabilitation after surgery, Zaniyah loved her time at the clinic, and so did we. While it definitely is a journey of ups and downs - as is the case with the trajectory of this type of healing - so long as you put in the time, care and commitment to the journey, you absolutely will have the support, guidance and top-notch skills needed to get your fur baby to the most optimal outcome. It is worth it. Zaniyah graduated from Animals Only a couple months ago and is truly thriving. She has not needed another surgery despite her right hind still having MPL grade 1-2 and minor skeletal deformity (you'd never be able to tell by looking at her though). We are certain that all the time, effort and care from prehab to rehab directly attributed to our success story. We are SO grateful for Animals Only providing the very best care and love to our pack. You will be, too.

They recommended Aloha Veterinary Hospital. I called them the next day explaining the situation and they contacted the emergency hospital I originally went to and reviewed Bubba's X-ray's. They discovered that Bubba needed emergency surgery. They squeezed him into their busy schedule right away. Dr. Marina Yamate is AMAZING! During surgery there were other procedures that needed to be performed and one of the Dr's assistants came out and asked me if that was ok. I REALLY appreciated the communication! Bubba went through the ringer that day and Dr Marina kept Bubba WELL past closing hours to make sure he was ok to go home after surgery. The office closed at 5 p.m. and we didn't even leave until after 8 p.m. !!! The quality of her work is INCREDIBLE! She is an EXTREMELY gifted Veterinarian! When she spoke with me it was with respect and empathy. She CLEARLY loves animals! I've had Bubba almost 2 years now and he's approximately 15 years old. Two weeks after Bubba's surgery he was doing the ZOOMIES! I've never, EVER seen him with the zoomies! He's always been like a chill....LAZY, bloated old man! He' s seriously a new dog with a new lease on life!! The entire staff ( with the exception of 1 person ) was AMAZING! Ariel at the front desk ( I believe that's her name ) is ADORABLE and is EXACTLY who you would want at the forefront of your business! Friendly, professional and hard working!!! On a side note.....the facility is IMMACULATE and BEAUTIFUL! ( I'm a germaphobe if that tells you anything ) They have a complimentary/coffee/soda/water station, a calming aquarium to look at and a nice bathroom. ( Hey it's the little things right?!! ) *CON* There WAS 1 MAJOR issue that happened that I wasn't pleased with. I was given an original estimate for services. THAT amount obviously changed due to Bubba needing other procedures done. I was charged the original amount TWICE and the new amount ONCE. We're talking THOUSANDS of dollars! My bank alerted me. I tried not to freak out, but seriously it wasn't easy! I let the office know and they suggested I contact my bank. So let me get this straight....YOU over charge my bank account and I'm the one that has to fix it?!!! Keep in mind that this is just a couple of days before Thanksgiving!!! If I were to call my bank then they would cancel my card and would have to send me a new one leaving me with no access to my money through the holiday! My bank was showing THREE transactions with my balance going up and up and UP!!! Aloha's system only showed TWO transactions....the original charge and the new charge which still comes out to THOUSANDS of dollars in over charges!!! When I went in to Bubba's 2 week check up appointment I spoke with Bri who apparently is the one that made the error. She gave me a nonchalant,back-handed apology and had the NERVE to suggest my bank was at fault!!! I said that my bank is very good about correcting over charges and that's why the THIRD transaction fell off. Bri then said " Well maybe your bank or card was the problem !!! " ARE YOU FRICKIN SERIOUS?!!! My bank had NOTHING to do with the over charge and if it weren't for the bank warning me in the first place I would have never known that I was being TRIPLE charged and neither would your office! Take responsibility for your own mistakes Bri! And it gets better....... When I first arrived for our appointment I explained to the receptionist that the zipper on Bubba's onesie broke and asked if I could I get a replacement? Ariel was a TOTAL sweetheart and said " Of course as long as you don't mind pink! " I laughed and said " No problem! " Well Ariel went home and I forgot to get the onesie from her. As we were leaving I asked Bri about it and she said that because it had been two weeks that I would have to purchase the replacement onesie and that it would $45!!!! I was FLOORED!!! I know PLENTY of people that would have LOST their minds over their accounts being over charged like mine was and I feel like I was EXTREMELY understanding and calm and now you want to charge me for a new onesie?!!! At the VERY LEAST I feel like I deserve a replacement onesie for my Bubba boy because of Bri's screw up!!! ......SHAME ON YOU BRI!!!! The reason why I rated Aloha Veterinary Hospital a 5 star instead of lowering it because of my experience with Bri is because Dr. Marina Yamate deserves a 5 star rating. She's a gifted, caring vet and it shows and our family GREATLY appreciates the tender loving care she gave our beloved Bubba. : ) One last thing....if you don't have pet insurance GET SOME!!! It will benefit you and your precious baby in the long run!!! Trust me!
