I had never had a "land shark" before. I grew up with GSD's. My dad trained them. I had 2 myself as an adult. I did some research after a very trying day with Dieter and I reached Dave. This kind man who was on vacation with his family but still took my call and calmed me down. I was in literal tears. Dave is an exceptional trainer and most importantly an exceptional human being. I love his no nonsense approach with training. It being coupled with lots of praise. He is so very professional while still being personable. Something that you do not find often. I learned so much from him. One of the most valuable lessons he taught me is that my dog is going to show me what he knows how to do. That means that I have to be accountable with implementing what Dave taught me. Repetition is key. Doing the work is key. I would recommend Dave to anyone who needs help. Whether it is a little help or a lot of help Dave is wonderful.

We came to him when we brought home…read moreJuni, our Doberman puppy, knowing we needed someone who understood working dogs and he delivered. He's helped us become better, more informed dog owners and make sure we're meeting Juni's physical and mental needs, not just teaching her commands. The results speak for themselves: she has off-leash freedom we honestly didn't think was possible, walks nicely on leash, and has good manners with guests. We also did a board and train while we were on vacation, and she came back sharper than ever. What makes Gonzalo stand out is how much he gets dogs. He doesn't have a one-size-fits-all approach. He talks about different training methods and helps you figure out what works for your specific dog's temperament. The biggest thing we took away is how much mindset and thresholds matter. A lot of trainers we looked into were focused purely on obedience with treats (sit, down, stay) in low-distraction settings, with no real plan for when your dog is stressed or overstimulated. Gonzalo pushed us to proof those skills at higher levels and hold our very smart but airheaded dog to higher standards, and because of that, Juni is pretty dang reliable out in the real world. We've since moved to LA and we will still make the drive to San Diego to see him. Highly, highly recommend.

We had an introductory phone call and within just a few minutes I knew I found the right trainer. He was kind, patient, and supportive... not just with my dog, but with me as well. He made it clear that training is just as much about teaching the owner as it is about teaching the dog. He was tough and direct when needed, which I really appreciated. It held me accountable and helped me understand how my own habits were affecting my dog. He balanced that "tough love" with genuine care, encouragement, and always provided clear explanations that were easy to apply at home... and trust me, he'll know if you aren't doing the reps at home. But how could you not when you see how much he cares and truly wants to help?! I never experienced issues with my dog in the 6 years I've had him, so I was beyond discouraged before I started working with Gonzalo. In the last four months, my dog has grown so much in confidence and behavior, and I've grown as an owner. I now see that training doesn't just stop, so I will continue to work with Gonzalo and make sure to recommend him to anyone looking for help.

After filling out a consultation form, I got in touch with Amanda, I loved her energy from the get go so we decided to go with Sit's Getting Real (awesome name btw). We did the puppy/leash manner course with them. We first started with pretty simple commands like "sit", "down", "wait", and transitioned into more advanced things like "with me," and "this way" which were foundation to leash walking manners. We also learned whole bunch of other practical commands that we started to incorporate into our daily routine, one of them being 'touch'. We also had the hardest time getting our puppy Stormie to sit from laying/down position, which Tomas showed us with the foot scoot method, this was not mentioned in any of the videos or articles I've searched for online. Amanda, Tomas, and Chante (and other trainers who we didn't have the pleasure to get acquainted with and interact more) blew our minds each training session with wealth of their knowledge, and our class was full of different dogs with different spectrum of temperaments. In addition to group class, they will stop by and assess individual dog's needs and temperament and offer advice one on one. I liked how they focus on getting your dog to remain NEUTRAL by using treats and redirection, and by providing highly controlled environment, it's great way to leash train your dog who wants to greet everyone and every dog! Oh, and most important part; they're not training your dog, they're training YOU to train your dog and set you up to be a successful dog owner! One of the dogs, Mr. Phil, who could not even be NEAR other dogs from the beginning of the class due to his reactivity, he was able to walk past other dogs and join the class, and we even took a group photo together! If that's not a testament to their knowledge, professionalism, and skill, I don't know what is! We enjoyed the class so much that 1st week where we didn't have class, me and my girlfriend were saying how much we missed going to their classes. We'll definitely see them again in future agility training course or private training for sure!

My dog, Mr. Phil, is very…read moredog reactive, and when we started the class he couldn't even be within 100 yards of the other dogs. I didn't think a group class would work for him at all, but that didn't phase the trainers even a little. The instructors were so patient and helpful. When we needed to be far away from the group, they came out to us to make sure we didn't miss instructions and gave us specific techniques that actually worked for Phil, instead of trying to force him into something he wasn't ready for. Over the five weeks, he made way more progress than I expected, and by the end he was able to join the class, which still kind of blows my mind. I also want to shout out Amanda, who did an earlier one-on-one session with us and encouraged us to try the class. I really didn't think Phil would be appropriate for a group setting because of how reactive he is, but she was right, and I'm so glad we did it. The positive training approach helped him be less panicky around other dogs and helped me feel more confident training him. If you have a reactive dog or feel nervous about group classes, I really can't recommend Sit's Gettin' Real enough. They're kind, supportive, and truly meet you and your pup where you're at.

We were given a classic excuse by someone other than the trainer after we called 3 different numbers to figure out where our trainer was. Then this same thing happened every session time after that... we'd schedule an appointment, the trainer wouldn't show up, and then we'd hear a new excuse to explain why the flakiness. After 6 months of this constant back and forth, we finally asked for our money back. We were told the owners would be reaching out. 1 month went by and we never heard from the owners or anyone else. I guess they just GHOSTED us and then they shut down their website for a while. I'm not sure what they're up to now but do not buy from them. There were so many other red flags from the start (heavily pushing for us to buy the shock collar package among other things) - I'm not sure why we ever agreed to pay for these in the first place. 0/10 do not recommend

She texted me updates of Willow twice a day. As a mom to a furbaby and real baby, I appreciated this communication. She also asked questions to make sure Willow was comfortable and enjoyed her stay. However when we brought him home, he was so excited and beyond controllable that it was very overwhelming for us. More importantly, our other dog was not fond of his lack of boundaries and lack of appreciation of her personal space and we were terrified of a bad outcome. Not knowing what to do as we felt very unsafe with our other dog, we took Scooter back to the Humane Society with heavy heavy hearts. Ridden with guilt and heartbroken, we were determined to figure out a way to safely bring Scooter back into our home. I came across Tori and Daniel on Thumbtack while searching for dog trainers, and they got back to me within 30 minutes, on a Saturday! Daniel did a phone consultation with us and within the next hour, met us at the Humane Society so we could re-adopt Scooter and get him into their training program. Tori and Daniel housed Scooter in their home for 2 weeks, where he learned proper social skills, boundary recognition, and a series of commands. Scooter was exposed to a number of other dogs and came back to us truly transformed. While his excitable personality is still ever present, Scooter learned the right set of skills to safely integrate back into our home with our other dog. I can't say enough great things about Daniel and Tori. We got daily updates and photos of our baby, and felt so confident that he was in good hands. I loved that he lived with them in their home rather than be in a kennel of sorts. Their compassion in meeting us at the pound and helping us rescue him in the blink of an eye is something we will never forget.
