Great job with Steve. My water heater went out on NYD! Steve called immediately and told me when he could come and install a new one. He told me the differences between the heaters and what were advantages and disadvantages. He did NOT try and up sell me. When the installation was scheduled, the technician came on time and was very polite, efficient and hard working. I have used Steve before and won't hesitate to use him in the future. read more

His plumbing van hit my car and he refused to give his insurance information after we have our insurance repeatedly asked over a month now. I'm a 5-ft tall Asian woman with a 5-month old baby and a tiny car and he tried to intimidate me by saying "you call that a damage?! That's nothing!" after the accident happened. I felt unsafe and had to step inside the car to call my husband to come help. The damage was small, but his behavior says a lot about his character. He's aggressive, does not take responsibility and I personally would not allow him in my home to fix anything. read more

The owner crashed his plumbing van into my wife's car on her way home from work (in the complex parking lot). She was at a stop and he forced his way around the corner, hitting the back of her car with the side of his van. He then proceeded to blame her for it and not take responsibility for HIS reckless driving. He tries to claim they scraped each other but the back of her car can't scrape the side of his unless he hit her mid-turn while she was stopped. Oh and he also refused to give us his phone number or insurance after repeated requests. If this is how he behaves with his company vehicle then I can't recommend his plumbing as he'll probably have the same shitty attitude and horrible ethics. The pics say it all. read more

Steve was very professional and was really good at explaining as to why things were happening. His plumber,Kendall fixed the slab leak inside our garage and did a great job by means of rerouting through the kitchen and was really efficient and prompt. Highly recommend Top Quality Plumping!!Efficient, friendly, clean and fair priced. Overall great communication and customer satisfaction. Alan & Julie read more

My experience with Top Quality Plumbing has been stellar, in large part due to Kendall, who I originally called because I notice that my bathroom floor was flooded. I had no idea how it happened or where the water was coming from. He showed up within 2 hours and immediately knew the issue. (i called another plumber for a second opinion and he was wrong, rude, and unhelpful) I also asked Kendall to check my upstairs bathroom for an issue that was seemingly small but ongoing for over a year. It turned out I had a slow leak that was becoming *very* large in damage. Kendall immediately called the correct restoration people, working with my landlord and my insurance, and reassured me the whole way. Kendall gave me his personal cel and never once flinched when I reached out with my questions, often having to navigate conversations on my behalf with the restoration team and my insurance. He made sure I knew exactly how to file my claim, how long the process would take and everything involved. Kendall taught me a lot about why and how things work in the home, and was always polite, knowledgable and communicative. I will never use another plumber. Brilliant team and company, thank you! read more

I've had a number of students rent this house I own and they always seem to clog the toilet or have some issue. I really don't know what those guys do to the plumbing system but Steve has always been quick to take care of things whenever I have an issue and at a great price. I highly recommend! read more

Each time we have contacted Steve for a plumbing challenge on our 1953 home, he has responded immediately with next steps and his availability. He gives the kind of customer service that is so rare. He shows up on time, has decades of knowledge, acts swiftly and is reasonably priced. read more

Called for something pretty simple. I was told by Steve they'd get back to me on a day two days from my call. That day came and went with no response. I followed up with them and was told "Sorry, we totally forgot about your job". We rescheduled a specific time again. They no showed. This went on a few different times and I concluded this was not the plumbing company for me. Then, out of the blue a few weeks later, I get a call looking to see if I still want a quote with more apologies. The apologies seemed genuine but seriously? I had even told them I found them here on Yelp and we talked a bit about reviews etc. End result? I've learned over the years that when a relationship starts out on a bad note, the quality of work and/or rest of the relationship doesn't usually look any better. Also, it's one thing to cherry pick your business and take more profitable jobs first... maybe they should incorporate this into their customer communications. Even "Sorry, we're just too busy to take on new business right now" so that I could move on. I'm sure from my conversations with the owner that my review will seem uncalled for but my experience (OR I maybe I should say lack of one) is exactly how it played out. With 5 guys working for this small company (and 3-4 days each week I was available to meet), there's no reason for not be able to provide a quote. Too many plumbers in the world to deal with this kind of poop. I think this guy actually thinks he's better at managing communications with clients in general than he really is. Based on my experience, I could actually believe the other few bad reviews. read more

I've been using Top Quality Plumbing for several years. They've done work for me at a manufacturing facility in Miramar as well as in my home and in my rental property in Pacific Beach. We were having a real problem with a sewer line in Pacific Beach a few years ago, and Steve was able to run a camera down to the sewer to prove the problem was on the City's side. He sent the video to them, and not long after, they came out and repaired the sewer. No more problems! Top Quality is the company we call for emergency same day service or our big jobs. Steve and his crew are very knowledgable, friendly and professional. I've learned a lot from them over the years, and I really appreciate having them on our team of professionals. read more

I have lived in San Diego for 10 years and have never needed a plumber before. But then our home got a slab leak (broken pipe deep below the 4 inch concrete foundation). I had no idea who to call - Angie's List has over 1100 plumbers listed in San Diego alone! (crazy). However, my neighbor used Top Quality Plumbing and I have full confidence in his judgment - but I called around anyway. Of all the places I called, Steve at Top Quality took the time to explain to me what would have to be done, how long it would take, and how much experience they had in the area. He also gave me the most realistic estimate - he didn't hedge in a list of conditions that would make the job cost 2-3 times more. Steve sent Francisco over to "look" at the job - four hours later, Francisco was done and the repair looked great! It was a big, messy job. But when he was done, you couldn't tell that I ever had a slab leak and that he was ever there! It was perfectly clean and I had hot water! San Diego has 1 plumbing company that I'm going to use and that is Top Quality Plumbing. Thanks Steve and Francisco! read more

This company was repairing a gas line at my condo complex so I asked them to do some work at a house we were refurbishing for rental. It turned into the best experience I have had with a plumbing company, for the following reasons: -Steve, the owner, kept in touch to confirm the appointment, to reschedule when 2 of his employees were ill, and to make sure I was satisfied with the work after it was completed. -Ryan arrived right at the scheduled time. Based on my years of experience with contractors in all fields, this is a rarity. He was also articulate and well-groomed (no "plumber's crack" here!). -He took the time to explain what he was going to do and he worked efficiently and quickly to accomplish the repairs. He also cleaned up after the job--other than things working again, you couldn't even tell he had been there. -The cost was much more reasonable than what I have been charged by other plumbing companies. Good business practices, friendly efficient interaction with both the owner and staff, and good prices--I will be recommending Top Quality to my friends and family! read more

I have worked with Top Quality plumbing for several years. As a Realtor, I have used them on many of my listings and they have always been professional, courteous and the work was done quickly and efficiently. I have had plumbing emergencies that they were always quick to respond as well. I just recently had them install a furnace in my own home which I love! They did a great job. I cannot say enough nice things about "Top Quality Plumbing". They are my "go to" for plumbers . Honest, reasonable and always there for me! read more

We used Top Quality Plumbing to install a water softener system. The filter needs to be changed every two years. We went to change the filter and discovered the system was installed WITHOUT a filter. For TWO YEARS we did not have soft water when we thought we did! The employee who did this is obviously not qualified to be a plumber! read more

Found this service on Yelp and glad I did. The water line busted after the meter going to the house. I thought I could fix it myself but couldn't stop the glued connection. They came over within half an hour. I was doing it right but the pressure busted The plumber was super cool and showed this old dog a few new tricks. RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Top Quality plumbing was sent to our rental several times by our landlord. The first time was to fix leaky pipes under the house. Besides leaving a pretty big mess behind the work was quick and efficient. However the last time Top quality was sent they came to check for pipes leaking in our walls. For some reason they decided the best way was to put a hole in our kitchen cabinet. I would think that if Top quality is able to do plumbing and heating that they could patch a hole? Instead they left us with a huge hole that let in cold air and bugs. Unfortunately Top Quality was sent out again to work on installing a new heating unit. They barricaded a large area off with plastic to protect drywall and dust from flying all over our place which was great. What i wasn't a huge fan of was the constant cursing and yelling coming from the crew as I was in bed recovering from surgery. At the end of day 1 the gentleman informed that they needed to keep the barricade up so it would be easier to clean up tomorrow morning. I said i guess if thats what needs to be done not knowing they left a hole from floor to celing in my living room. The tarp filled with dust and debris and hand saws laying freely on the floor. I had to lock my animals up all night because naturally they wanted to climb into the walls and check things out. The next day they returned and finished. Stating they had to leave the hole in the wall until the inspector showed up as the cold air and bugs come up. They did an ok job with cleaned. But the best past of it all is they turned off our gas and didn't turn it back on. So that evening we discovered we had no hot water or a working oven or stove. Someone from top quality came out about 20hrs later to fixed it and said " my appologizes man, we were in a rush yesterday". Very poor customer service skills, rushed thru the job and left us with a very sour taste in our mouth. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Top Quality Plumbing was great! As soon as I called they set up an appointment the following day. We have had this leak that other plumbers could not find the source of but Steve was great and checked out a few possible sources and found the source fast and gave me a free estimate. Steve also spent the time to educate me on what was causing the leak and what to do if it were to happen again. Amazing customer service!! And best of all we stayed within my budget and Steve was right on target with the estimate. Within a few hours my leak was fixed and no more water on my kitchen floor! There is nothing worse than having a water leak in your house. We had water running near our water heater so we just needed to confirm that it was the water heater that needed to be fixed. I called Steve at top quality plumbing and he agreed to come out the same day at 10 AM to take a look at it. They had a look at it and confirmed it was our water heater. Steve and his Team were professional and told us exactly how much it would cost us to get the water heater fixed. Since we live in an older home we had a smaller tank and Steve was able to recognize that and helped us get a bigger tank so our hot water would run longer. Since The water heater was installed we have not run out of hot water and everything has been fixed. Steve followed up with a call to make sure that everything was fixed and also let us know that if we had any problems to call him. I would highly recommend top quality plumbing because they were able to come out the same day and fix our problem and because of their professionalism. read more

Today we had an emergency, leaking water pipe in the crawl space under the house, we heard it last night and were fairly certain way the problem was. I called our usual good plumber but they couldn't come 'til Jan. 3. I checked Yelp and Next door for recommendations, all that I called, six, were unable to come today. A Top Quality man came and quickly found the leak, repaired it and suggested another useful repair. Steve then called to see if it had gone well. I don't know yet the charges, but a good job was done. read more

I found out about Top Quality Plumbing when I saw one of their vans in my condo complex. I left a message and Steve -who happened to be the owner- called me within a few hours. From then on he was easy to communicate with via text -my preference. He returned al messages on time. I've used him twice thus far and in both instances -2 separate employees-fixed the problem on a timely manner and conducted themselves in a ver professional way. Plumbing is a delicate thing here in San Diego. Lots of flooded kitchens and homes. I trust Steve and Top Quality Plumbing to do the job well, on budget, and in a timely manner. read more

First off this is my first review in 3 years of owning this account. It takes a really bad company to make me get up and warn others about it. I should have read the reviews on Yelp before hiring these clowns to come out and give me a consultation. A technician gets over to my house and gives me a quote twice as much as 2 other shops. After going with another shop a few days later I get the mysterious call from Steve harassing me about wasting his time. He finally got the clue I went with another shop and is now trying to extort me for the cost of a consultation. I don't think Steve is into doing any business, he's trying to force people to pay for consultation so he wins without working. The only reason why I kept a star was that the guy that actually came out was nice. Just the owners agenda is to not do the job and collect consultation fees without even telling you about any fees. read more

Just like the other reviews, Steve should not be trusted. From a simple free estimate, to a few hundred dollar fee.
