When we got it back I immediately noticed an improper fit with the bumper -- like it was put on half assed. It wasn't bad enough to take back so I left it. Two months later I opened the hood up for an oil change and I noticed resistance. It wasn't until later that I noticed the corner of the hood was bent because it was so badly aligned. If it didn't take me so long to notice it, I would've taken it back. I won't take another vehicle here for repair. This is the second vehicle we have taken here that had inferior workmanship done to it.

The gentleman I worked with is rather gruff and not particularly friendly, and while a friendly demeanor isn't exactly something I need it's still nice when dealing with a business. I was ultimately given a printed estimate however the gentleman didn't bother to take any photos to provide to the insurance carrier, so then I had to take them. I was also told by the carrier Bernie's was completely unresponsive and uncooperative in giving them the estimate and I was caught in the middle. So with the bad attitude, having the onus put back on me by the shop to coordinate and then on top of the recent complaints of poor workmanship, I am taking the car to a different shop.

Formal Complaint Regarding Service Advisor Misconduct, Improper Maintenance, and Unethical…read moreTreatment of a Pregnant Customer To: Kia Management Dear Kia Management, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a highly concerning experience my wife and I had at your service center. We brought our vehicle in for scheduled maintenance and clearly informed the service advisor that no additional services were requested -- only an oil change and a recall-related software update. When my wife requested a Multipoint Inspection report, the advisor provided one marked with red flags suggesting serious issues. Upon review, it was clear these were only recommendations and did not affect the warranty or safe operation of the vehicle. We explicitly asked the advisor to double-check the oil level, as this dealership has previously overfilled the engine, which can cause pressure issues, foaming, viscosity changes, leaks, and engine damage. Despite this, the vehicle was again returned with overfilled oil. Alarmingly, the advisor did not merely wipe the dipstick; he wiped it down to the marked level to make it appear as though the oil was properly filled. When my wife checked herself, the oil was clearly above the maximum mark. This conduct is unprofessional and dangerous. Such negligence could result in mechanical failure, for which Kia would be liable under warranty, but the owner would bear costs afterward. Because our request was ignored, my pregnant wife had to wait while the excess oil was drained, causing avoidable stress and discomfort. It is unclear why your staff continues to disregard explicit instructions. Additionally, the advisor attempted to charge my wife, despite our prepaid maintenance plan covering service up to 60,000 miles. This information should be clearly visible in your system, as both the vehicle and the maintenance plan were purchased from this dealership. When reminded, he claimed we "should have notified them in advance," which is unreasonable; the system should automatically reflect coverage. Most troubling is that this poor service targeted my pregnant wife, causing emotional distress. It seems staff assumed she would not notice service details, enabling them to provide substandard care and attempt to upsell unnecessary items. This behavior is unethical and discriminatory. The service advisor was named Jim. I urge management to investigate immediately, restrict him from handling our vehicles, and provide training for staff to ensure compliance with Kia standards, particularly regarding proper oil service procedures. If this happens again, we will escalate the matter to the Ohio State Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau, and other consumer protection agencies.

(OTHER THAN having to jump it, the car was driving the same as before when I bought it January of 2025 - no leaks, everything electrical was same, no issues. I was even told by a few "audi experts" via websites and over the phone when describing the non-starting issue it COULD POSSIBLY even be [simply] the extreme cold Ohio is experiencing this winter, though I was not buying that - in 46 years on this plant, driving for 30, and growing up in OHIO, of all of the vehicles I have had/driven/owned, NONE have NOT STARTED BC OF THE OHIO WINTER CHILL). ANYWAY, get the car towed by Jae's last Sunday night from Heath Walmart parking lot, Monday a.m., I call Howland, tell them the car is on their lot, urge them to please fit me in b/c I have two very important appointments the next day, one for my VA therapy, the other for a civil matter downtown. They got me "IN" and proceeded to spin some made-up story about the oil filter having been "punctured" and the pics they sent to me to go over the "diagnosis" the mechanic found showed this "punctured oil filter" and that oil had been spewing all through the engine compartment , mainly the passenger side, and not only was that an issue, but the lever/pully that goes in ONE DIRECTION to engage the battery IS ACTUALLY GOING FREELY IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, which leads to me having to either pay $928 plus labor to replace that "lever/pully" or, replace the entire alternator, something upwards of $1300 plus labor....People, Ohio just experienced our first Winter of 25-26 snow storm a little more than a week ago - I have over a foot of snow in my yard, where I park, ACTUALLY, WHERE MY CAR WAS STUCK....and after getting shoveled out of that spot, snow packed clear up and beyond my wheel wells, THERE WAS NO OIL SPOT, NO OIL SPILLAGE, NO BLACK ANYTHING, ANYWHERE! Back to the story...I asked how much to replace the oil filter, top it off? (it was due for an oil change, anyway, I just hadn't gotten to that part yet as I was more concerned with getting my car to actually START first...) and Micah quoted me for like $63 and change or something like that. done. cc info over the phone, proceeded to get a ride out to the shop to pick up my Audi. the second I put it in drive, i am not even out of the lot yet, I am waiting on traffic, and I am using both feet - one on the brake, the other giving it gas - so it doesn't die on me.....every stop light on 79 to Hopewell, the light at Hopewell and National drive/13, the light at ISABELLE AND NATIONAL DRIVE, THE STOP SIGN AT 2ND STREET, AND THE CAR i HAD TO SLOW DOWN BEHIND BEFORE MY STREET, THE CAR DIED. EVERY TIME. i HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, RESTART IT, AND GUN IT BEFORE IT DIED. Their mechanic did this. it was their mechanic that punctured the oil filter, felt bad about making a huge boo boo like that, and that's why they didn't charge me the LABOR for replacing the oil filter/topping off the oil. THEY WEREN'T DOING ME A FAVOR. THE PROBLEMS i AM NOW HAVING ARE NOT BECAUSE OF THE TIMING CHAIN; i DON'T NEED A NEW ALTERNATOR OR BELT. THEY FUDGED UP AND WHAT THE HECK AM I GONNA DO ABOUT IT?! i AM A DISABLED NAVY VET WHO HASN'T WORKED SINCE 2016! i AM ON A FIXED INCOME, WITH NOBODY TO HELP ME BESIDES ME AT MY HOUSE. i CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR. i CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO LOOK AT IT! THIS BUSINESS MESSED UP MY PERFECTLY EXCELLENT RUNNING, IN PERFECT SHAPE, NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BESIDES NEEDING A NEW BATTERY CAR AND i CAN'T EVEN SELL IT, TRADE IT, NOTHING! DON'T GO TO THESE "EXPERTS IN EUROPEAN CARS." YOU MIGHT GET THE SAME IDIOT WHO MESSED UP MY CAR!

They cancelled my first appointment because the tech was off on the day I had scheduled. I rescheduled for the next week. Then the service guy argued with me that it was not a bulb but an LED that needed replacement and said they couldn't do that on a mobile service. He kept quoting the "headlight" not the indicator bulb. He tried to tell me that that the non-BMW dealer put in an "after market" part which is why it wasn't working. I ended up dissembling it myself and taking pictures of the Bulb that needed replaced. He quoted me $120 plus labor to replace a $6 bulb. He cited the "labor" to replace it but I had already taken it apart! They must think I'm stupid. I ordered the part and did it myself which is what I should have done in the first place!

They replaced the purge valve. Guess what I'm still getting the same gas smell because of the canister was not replaced. And when I said to him when I went back and told him that Ford had said it was the canister. I told him Ford coded the canister and I showed him the paperwork from Ford. And he charged me 500 and something dollars for the purge valve and it's the canister cause I still have the same gas smell that I had before I took it into his shop. I went back and talked to him. He had no plausible explanation except for that's what you told us no it was not. I showed him the paperwork from Ford. That said it was the canister. Then he says to me well in our experience it's always been the purge valve. So what happened was they assumed it was the purge valve even though I showed them that it coded it out from Ford as the canister. So I'm out 500 bucks now it's another 400 to get the canister replaced. He did not offer to help me in any way shape or form on the cost of this. My name is Darren Wingate. I was his customer.
