Hana did a wonderful job on my nails. I showed her what I wanted to recreate from Pinterest but to have her own flare on it and she executed it to perfection. The shop is small and very clean! I went on a Sunday afternoon without an appt and it was only one other patron there. By the time I left four more people had shown up. I would call ahead. I had an amazing first experience at Top Nails and thought I'd FINALLY found my spot but my second appointment turned out to be a disaster. The tech was more concerned about responding to unending texts on her phone - throughout my entire mani/pedi session. Then, she cut the skin on my big toe, which has been infected and throbbing all week. This doesn't even consider how sloppy my manicure looks. I asked for an sns dip with a nude base and dark tips. The tips look like they were painted on by a 5 year old. I paid $110 for these services and that's the last dollar this business will get from me. read more

I really wanted to like this place, and at first, things were off to a good start. They took me right on time for my appointment, the salon was clean, and my nails turned out looking nice. Plus, the whole process was super quick...I was in and out in just 45 minutes. But the experience itself was frustrating and uncomfortable. The technician was rough and he didn't bother asking what shape or length I wanted before aggressively filing my nails down. One nail was filed so short it was genuinely painful, and I had to ask him to stop. He also drilled my nails so thin they feel like paper and skipped cutting my hangnails entirely. On top of that, everyone's attitude was cold and unwelcoming, making the whole appointment unpleasant. If you only care about speed, this place might work. But for a more careful, considerate, and professional experience, I'd go elsewhere. read more

They are very friendly, especially the boss that's a good thing for me. At least the people on patronizing with are pleasant Hannah did my nails/toes so professionally everything they use there is state of the art equipment take in my mind. They are a bit pricey if you're from another state, Howevmy family happened to live in this state and I am pleased with the work that was done. read more

Efficient and high quality. I really like a clean manicure, and have gotten consistent results every time I have been here. Also they don't hack away at your natural nail like many other salons in the area. Rate has been around $60-90 based on design & the manicures have lasted for around 5 weeks. read more

With my usual nail salon closed on Mondays, and my partner with an unexpected day off, we went to Top Nail at Yelp's recommendation - and we weren't disappointed! The pedicure was exceptionally comfortable. I have tiny toes, so there really wasn't much to work on, but the foot care was very nice. I got shellac gel done to my nails, and really love the results! I have a hard time growing my nails out because of my day job, but shellac gel helps me to let them get a little longer. I love the fun colors they had available! Absolutely will be a place that we consider returning to! read more

I had an extremely upsetting experience at Topsails Nail Salon in Rockville, MD in July 2025. What should've been a simple nail appointment turned into an emotionally exhausting and degrading situation that left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. I originally requested a Classic Pedicure, but the technician, Vincent, encouraged me to upgrade to the Organic Volcano Spa Pedicure. I agreed. However, this service does not include a gel pedicure, and I did not ask for one. I don't typically get gel on my toes because regular polish lasts just fine. But while I was lightly napping, Vincent went ahead and applied gel without discussing it with me. By the time I woke up, it was already done. I felt cornered into a service I hadn't agreed to. Things worsened during the Gel-X manicure. I noticed immediately that my pinky nail was crooked, and I asked Vincent if he could fix it. I also asked him to shorten a few of my nails. Instead of simply correcting the shape (which I was paying a premium for), he seemed personally offended that I was pointing it out. He never acknowledged the nail was crooked, and instead of continuing professionally, he decided to bring over the manager. I hadn't raised my voice or been rude--he just didn't seem to like being asked to adjust his work. The manager began working on my nails, but she was clearly irritated and not gentle. Her reshaping didn't improve the situation. In fact, my nails ended up looking even more misshapen. When she said Vincent would return to finish, I calmly told her I didn't feel comfortable with that. If he was upset by me simply requesting a correction, I didn't want him working on my hands again. Instead of responding with empathy, she said loudly in front of everyone, "Don't take it personally." I asked her to please lower her voice, as I didn't appreciate having my concerns broadcast to the whole salon. After that, a third technician was brought in to finish. By then, it was clear I was being viewed as "the problem," even though all I did was ask for my nails to be done properly. When the service finally ended, my nails still looked crooked, misshaped, and there was bubbling under the Gel-X, which shouldn't happen with proper application. Despite all of this, I was charged $149 for an experience that was incomplete, frustrating, and nowhere near the standard I was expecting. What's especially disheartening is that I remained calm and composed the entire time, even though I had every right to be frustrated. I wasn't angry--I was simply trying to advocate for myself. But that was treated as a threat. In today's climate, I'm very aware of how things can escalate--especially for Black women--so I focused on de-escalating and staying peaceful, even though I shouldn't have had to. If there's audio or video footage from the salon, I hope they review it. It will clearly show that I was polite and reasonable, while the staff became dismissive and defensive. This experience left me feeling taken advantage of, talked over, and dismissed--not just as a customer, but as a person. I won't be returning, and I caution others to think twice before spending your time or money at a place where basic respect isn't guaranteed. I am now scouring the reviews for something that I may have missed. Now, I see that there was a warning to steer clear of Vincent. However, his behavior is clearly acceptable to management who are just as culpable. read more

I was looking for some acrylic or dip nails, when Vincent introduced me to Gel-X. I was having a hard time with acrylic and dip nails because I use my hands a lot for work and the edge would break off. Gel-X is much better than acrylics or dip because they bend instead of breaking when they hit something. Vincent is truly a nail artist and takes his time with the manicure and molding the Gel-X to each nail for the best fit and look. read more

Avoid Vincent at Top Nails in Rockville, MD. I returned last week due to chipping and a buckled nail from a Gel X set he had just done. Instead of correcting his work professionally, Vincent tried to charge me again for a fix. He originally quoted $70 for a new set and $50 for refills, but I was charged $65 each time. He added surprise fees for shaping (square vs. coffin) and using mood polish--none of which were explained upfront. When I reviewed my receipts and questioned the charges, his attitude shifted and he passed me off to his boss Christine, who was kind and apologetic. Vincent's lack of transparency, poor attitude, and emotional instability made the whole experience uncomfortable. He also chain-smokes constantly, which is off-putting in a professional environment. I will not be returning and do not recommend him. read more

Using an alias for this review, however, I wanted to comment on the best nail tech in the world -Tracy at Top Nails. I had 2 major events and wanted 'themed nails' for each. The 1st event was the Beyonce Renaissance Concert and the 2nd event was the Wicked Movie premiere. I showed her pictures and the concept of the specific intricate design I wanted for each event, and she was able to execute these complex nail designs. Both were beautiful and I received countless compliments! I highly recommend Tracy because she is the guru of all nail techs! read more

Everyone was very nice but my nail tech took 2 hours to do my tips and dip and I had wait 30 minutes even tho I made an appointment. You know who the good nail techs are and who isn't. They have there own customers and give the new customers to the not so experienced. One of my nails was obviously crocked and when I would mention it she didn't understand what I was saying. She didn't cut my nails down to the length I wanted either. Not going back. Just because I don't understand what you are saying doesn't mean I don't know what's going on. read more

Walked in on a Monday as it was pretty empty and I was in the area. Wanted a pedicure and was promptly sat at a chair. My pedicurist was nice and did a great job. My only complaint is that it did smell a little mildew-y inside the salon (maybe I was sitting next to the used towels), they don't use bowl liners which was a little off putting and I felt like the massage was all of 2 minutes. However, if your regular spot is booked up or you need a quick pedi would recommend this place. read more

Christina really takes the time to make sure the nails come out as close to perfection as possible. She is very understanding. Reasonably priced. The shop was very clean and well-decorated with a soothing vibe. I'd recommend either Mia or Christina for SNS! read more

This salon is outstanding! I have not been this satisfied by a nail place since living in Miami. I came out with perfect nails and zero cuts! I am always nervous about getting cut when getting a pedi. These ladies are fast, super nice and efficient! This my new favorite place in Rockville for sure! Finding a good nail salon with decent pricing is not easy..I came across Top Nails a couple months ago when I first moved to the Rockville area. My first experience there was very pleasant and I found myself making Top nails my go to until this past weekend. I had a full set done that was very long overdue on removing(from the same location) and unfortunately my real nails ended up partially breaking. To avoid my completely breaking I placed a bandage and immediately called for a walk-in. I always appreciate how the place is accommodating to last minute appointments. When I get there I was set up with the technician, Holly, she assessed my nails and I explained how my nail broke and I just wanted all the full set removed and gel on my real nails. She started my soaking my nails in acetone and removing the set I had and the previous manicure as well. After about 7 mins of soaking, she comes back and from there things went downhill..to remove my full set she used the tweezers to get in-between and proceeded to rip the full set. I verbally yelped "OW" and she continued with no apology...that honestly should've been the red flag but I just calmly said " that kind of hurt." From there, she fixed my partially broke nail but adds the comment "you can't fix this with a bandage over it. You need to use dip or glue" confused I asked her, "what do you mean by that..? Like, I fix it?" Thinking maybe she misspoke but no she repeated herself and while fixing it with dip she says, "like this." I'm never not to speak out whenever I'm unhappy with the service but this time I didn't raise this to the manager (when I should've) because I was in a rush and everyone was busy. I ended up with a slanted square shape nails with streaks. Overall, never going back there and if I do, never requesting for Holly. read more

They have an incredible color selection, and can do almost anything! I want to speak to my most recent recent experience where Tracy went above and beyond for me - I needed a color brown that was very specific, and we simply couldn't match it. I've been going to Top Nails for over 7 years and hope to continue doing so. I've lived in Rockville for many decades and this is the best salon I've found. Everyone is friendly and professional, the place is very CLEAN, and my nails are perfect every time. Prices are competitive, plus there is easy parking. A girlfriend of mine recommended "One" to me (I apologize as I know that I am misspelling her name!). I had been having trouble finding another nail technician as my usual one is taking a break. Let me tell you!! I was pleasantly surprised! This is my second time having my nails done with One and she is magnificent, meticulous, and very exciting to speak to. I had my nails done this second time and I found myself looking forward to speaking with her. She's very sweet and I love how well she does my nails! I'm very grateful to have been told about her! I chose the full moon pedicure that includes scrub, cream, paraffin wax and a 20 minute massage. It was wonderful and well needed !!! Kristy then began the nail polish and design. I was shocked because of the good reviews and specifically was excited to work with David, who has great reviews here. Firstly, it's a rare treat for me to get my nails done because I'm a new mom. I came in with a grown-out BIAB manicure from a different salon and asked for a builder gel manicure with a cats eye design. David said this was ok and that he would do the builder gel, then another manicurist would do the cats eye. He started filing my nails and immediately cut them down to the quick even though I asked him to leave some length. He was super rough with the skin around my nails, which now looks worse than when I came in. Then the plan somehow changed and he started doing my cats eye design even though he said he didn't know how to. He insisted that a black gel base would make the color look better, even though I chose a light cats eye color. The result of this effort was that my nails looked like black buttons with chunky white glitter on them. He insisted that the gel and magnets were "not working" and that's why he couldn't get the cats eye to work. Then he suggested I simply leave with the black color, which looked awful and sooo different from what I picked. I asked to remove the black and he agreed, then suggested that I simply "come back tomorrow." At that point I had been there almost two hours with nothing to show for it so I just asked to do a basic gel color. This also took ages and was super messy. I had to ask him multiple times to clean off gel that spilled onto my skin, which is dangerous! Even after that, the manicure looks extremely sloppy and thick. He kept filing and filing my nails even after I pointed out that I was in pain. After over two hours, the results were terrible and they could tell I wasn't happy. The owner and David were defensive when I pointed out this was not what we agreed to. David even argued that it was my fault, saying that he could have served two customers in the time it took to do my nails. However, there were no other customers to serve--and I have zero control over how long it takes him to do things. I still left a full tip and paid for the service despite the awful experience and the fact that they somehow tried to blame me for the outcome. I had high hopes but will not be back.

His techniques are truly impressive, and I haven't had my nails look this beautiful and natural in such a long time. I have been going to Top Nails for several years. Kim is my specialist and she is superb. Very thorough, gentle and sweet. I lost a bet once and she even did my toes different colors at no cost. I have gone other places (via groupon, etc.) and have had terrible results. I am sticking with Top Nails. Everyone, I mean everyone is friendly and helpful. Kim always lets me know when my waxing is due, as I can't really tell, but once it is done, I really see the difference.
