Top Nails is my new Nail Shop. Lemme tell you.. Its clean and bright and they have tons of colors on their walls. I had my pedicure first with Tommy. He was so great, and meticulous with every step. My feet feel marvelous and I feel so relaxed. My full set was next which I was very leary about, one nail had already popped off but the rest held tight. Moon is my new favorite technician. She got my nails off with no pain, cuticle damage, or blood. Moon did such a great job and they offer a pink or white acrylic power for your nails, the pink hides the dirt under you nails she said. When she read this review she proceeded to inform me that I wasnt welcome to come back. I had come in for my service to get the gel soaked off my toes. I spoke to a women in front and said "Okay" and told me to have a seat. About 15 minutes passed, and another woman approached me and said, "You need soak off?" I said, "Yeah." she said, "No, we can't do it because it takes too long." I said what do you mean? It's the same as if it were on my nails but on my toes. She just stood there like a statue. I told her that was fine because I didn't want to pay for forced service. However, I felt that it was dumb to reject my service because I wasn't adding anything significant to it; I just needed something removed, and because that was the case and it took a minute, you would not assist me. This was my first time at top nail. It's been in Joliet for years and I think it used to be called Lee Nails. My sister was a customer for a long time before she moved to Texas and always told me she only went to Vivian. Because I heard such good things, I decided to try this place because I'm looking for a new nail salon because the salon near my house in New Lenox has shoddy work. When I came in, they were obviously busy. It's a Saturday so it's to be expected. I asked for no chip manicure/pedicure. Micheal did my toes. Basic white polish. The polish was sloppy and all over my cuticles on top of my nail still being visible because there weren't enough coats of polish. Another young man did my nails. Same thing as the toes! I got yellow and my nails looked like someone melted a piece of craft cheese on my nails. Not to mention the polish was so bubbly that I'm sure it was old. The young man attempted to fix a nail he obviously messed up but just decided to cover it with more polish instead of actually fixing it. I asked Vivian if someone could clean up my toe polish and they looked better after that but it shouldn't have taken two different people to do basic polish. I wasn't gone three hours when my no chip started to peel on all of my nails. I wasted $75 for old polish and sloppy work. I would never frequent this shop again and wouldn't recommend it to others. This is one of my favorite places to go to have my nails and toes done. The staff is extremely friendly and I am always happy with the results! I have been coming for almost over a year. This place gets crazy busy at times but it makes it that much more fun to just people watch and see all the creative designs people ask for. It truly is an art to see that customers show them a picture and they are able to satisfy the request. I started doing no chip on my toes and it lasts forever! I no longer lose the polish on my toenails and the bottom of my feet feel amazing. Going out and doing something for yourself that you enjoy and makes you feel good is my kind of self care. I try to get my toes done at least once a month, however I've had my hands tied up with school and work, so it had been awhile, and I was ready to try someplace new. One day after school, I didn't have work and was driving by a nail salon that my friends have told me about, so I thought, "Today is the day", and I drove into the Top Nails parking lot. When I walked in, I got kicked in the face by a sterile chemical smell that burned my nostrils. However I was greeted very nicely and was seated fairly fast which is why I decided to stay. The scenery was nice and elegant, all the different nail colors were hung on the wall for you to look at and to choose from. I was seated in a massage chair which was relaxing and was a lot newer compared to other nail spots. When asked what kind of service I wanted, I decided to take it up a notch and go with the spa pedicure which includes an exfoliation scrub . When it was time for the scrub, the lady used this scrub that was purple, smelled like lavender and had a bead-like substance. I could tell the scrub was doing its thing because It was kind of harsh on my skin but I could feel my dead skin coming right off which I enjoyed. Then for after care she applied this lotion which paired perfectly with the scrub because it also smelled like lavender and left my skin even softer, however when it came to the actual massage, I felt that it was rushed and done poorly. This upsets me because I look forward to a good massage, and I did not not receive one even though I paid extra for it. Thankfully, the job she did on the polish was spot on and very clean. She snapped it on very smoothly, and I loved how my toes came out, which is why I would go back :) All in all, it was good service, and I would rate it 4 stars. I'm taking off one star because I typically lean more towards leisurely pedicures, where this one you could tell they want you in and out. The comfortable ambiance, service, and elegant decor that all came together at the end and I loved the end result. If you're ever in a rush and need to get your nails done asap, I'll for sure recommend Top Nails. read more

Believe all the other comments of the inconsistent prices and make sure you're paying attention to what they're charging you. Apparently I have been getting charged for no chip polish and I had absolutely no clue. Never once did I ask for it nor was I asked if I wanted no chip for my fill ins. I went to pay today and the total was $35. No biggie right i thought? Tip included maybe? Although, just a regular acrylic fill in which on their price list is $25. Anyway, I got a cut down (extra $5) last visit and my total was $35...so when I didn't get a cut down this time around I was expecting to pay $30. So i asked her why i was paying the same price with no cut down? She proceeded to tell me it was because i got a 'no chip' fill in which is $35. Still didn't make sense but I calmly told her that I didn't get no chip (because this whole time I had no idea he was giving me no chip polish if this was the case) and she kept telling me that I've been getting no chip the entire time but i was unaware of this given my confusion. I also waited 30 minutes after my set appointment time waiting for my regular tech and I didn't give them a hard time. It sucks they're not so gracious back. I can't say I'll be back at this place. Worst service ever, they took me right away but she was so annoyed I just wanted regular mani pedi and didn't want acrylics or gel. I called to see if my nail tech had any openings today. I broke 3 nails and decoded to just get a soak off and get a manicure. The receptionist told me I can come at 4. I get there and see the nail tech working with a client so I sit down. Nail tech walks past me and says "hi", then gets whatever is was she needed and went back to her station to continue with the client. By now it's 4:35, and I sit down and I asked if I can get a discount since I'm 35 minutes late getting in her chair. She instantly starts speaking her language with the owner who sit next to her . I asked her again , did you hear me can I have a discount? She then yells "No". I thought she was just joking because she has never yelled at me or raised her voice so I asked her again and she said "Noooooo". I, said okay no problem but I was so offended and embarrassed by her reaction and response that I told her today would be my last day coming to this nail shop she did not respond to that said nothing and we both finished up in silence. I've come here a few times. It's literally absolute hit or absolute miss. A few times I wasn't even able to pick my own color. I said I wanted a red color and then had someone bring me something chosen. Only place I've ever been to that does that. And this happened more than once to me at this place. The last time I went there the nail shape is off and super thick nails they almost look like chiclets gum. Other times I've been there the nails were amazing.
