I had the option to rent or buy for all of my groomsman and the dads and they made that process very smooth, even for the out of state members of the party. Additionally, Brad and his team worked to do a custom suit for myself. That suit came in perfectly fitted and designed exactly how I wanted. I've rented from this shop a few times over the years, and unfortunately, the quality and service have steadily declined. For a recent wedding, several of us experienced issues: some received incorrect vests, suspenders broke the day of, and the tuxedos themselves felt poorly tailored and cheap. Most of us went in for our final fittings only to find that adjustments still hadn't been made--we essentially had to have everything re-tailored on the spot. I really wanted this place to work out (I'm the one who recommended them to the groom), but it's clear that attention to detail and customer care have taken a back seat to mass production/greed. Hoping they turn things around, but I can't recommend them based on my recent experiences. read more

Had an excellent experience with Top Hat for my wedding last weekend in Hershey. Quite a few people in the wedding party flew in from out of state, so a lot of measurements were submitted online. Top Hat nailed it - everything fit great and the tuxes looked perfect on wedding day. $214 to rent a suit for a wedding. Went to pick it up 2 days before wedding and pants were to short and jacket was faded in spots. Others in the wedding party had issues as well. They did deliver the suits the next day after being told they were not driving back to store the day of rehearsal. Luckily when he tried it on day of the wedding it fit. There wouldn't have been enough time to fix it if it didn't. With that many problems they should have these suits ready at least a week before. This place is not worth the stress! read more

We used Top Hat for our wedding and were very pleased with their customer service. We found a deal online for discounted suit vouchers and had all of our groomsmen buy them. We had 9 groomsmen, the groom, and 2 fathers and all 12 people had a great experience purchasing their suits. Most were able to try their suits on in person and get measured, but 2 people were out of town and had no issues calling in their measurements. The suits were great quality, and with an even better price tag! My family members still wear their suits to this day and have had no issues with the suits tearing or anything. The only snafu we had was 2 of the groomsmen's shirt sizes got mixed up. The arm length was flipped for them. Which for us, wasn't a big deal because they had their jackets on and rolled their sleeves up when at the reception. Upon returning the rented items they asked how things went and we told them about the small mishap we had and they apologize and said that had we contacted them they would have fixed it for us in a rush and drove new shirts out to us. Excellent customer service! But that is a good reminder to all wedding parties to try your items on upon picking them up the day before and don't wait until the morning of the wedding....just in case! read more

Great experience from beginning to end for my daughter's wedding. They brought the tuxes out day before to check for any last minute alterations since the original fittings a couple months ago. Horrible experience ! Owner is terrible! Lied straight to my husband telling him kids coats should not button then blamed my sons size which he is a larger kid saying from the beginning she stated the coat wouldn't fit ! Terrible experience. Went to pick up tux and it did not fit. Had to go back the next night (day before the wedding) and assumed everything was fixed so did not try it on again. Day of wedding pants were so bad I had to wear a pair from my closet, thankfully they kind of matched. Walked in to get fitted for tuxes. We were told that we needed to come back another day next week and needed to make an appointment. Since I travel extensively, I never know when I'll be out of town, so I couldn't do that. Pretty good experience at Top Hat. Between placing my order and getting measured, picking up and having alterations and dropping off, I was here a few times and everyone that I dealt with was very friendly. I needed a tux for a black tie event. I got their base, generic black tux which was $100 for everything including the shoes. After getting my measurements I came back a week later and after trying it on, a few adjustments needed to be made which was no big deal. I just came back 30 minutes later and it was ready. The only problem was that my tux just didn't fit right and I really didn't notice it until I got to the event I was at. This tux shop is the best in Pittsburgh. They have the cheapest prices I was able to find anywhere in town and the guys there really knew their stuff. When I went for the fitting, I was in and out in 20 minutes and on pick up day everything was perfect and looking sharp. They even cut me a break on the late fees when I totally spaced on bringing it back for a couple of extra days. Well I must admit... I was planning my wedding in less a months time, I needed suits and a tux for my groomsman, ring bearer and I on a short notice and required nothing short of prisitine excellence. I'm only getting married once after all and really wanted to nail it. Guess who delivered...? Yup, it was Top Hat Tuxedo in Waterworks! I mean from great deals on the suits to the fits that were next to perfect. The icing on the cake was that everyone got to keep their suit... Ikr! Now the job on my jacket was absolutely fantastic! My boyfriend rented a tuxedo from here for a black tie event. He was pressed for time and couldn't come in for a fitting before our event (I just picked up the tux on his behalf). He noticed as he was getting dressed for the event that the clasp on the pants was broken and as a result the pants were unwearable. He ended up not being able to wear the tuxedo at all because of this. What good is a tuxedo jacket if there are no pants to go with it? He instead wore a suit of his own, which was not ideal as it was not in line with the dress code for the event. We did call and let Top Hat Tuxedo know what had happened, and the man I spoke to told us he would run a full refund by his manager and make a note in the file about it. When I showed up to return the tux however, I was offered a $10 refund on a $90 rental (none of which he even wore). I was able to talk them into a $20 refund instead (anything more than $20 needs to be approved by a manager, meaning the man I talked to on the phone never followed through on his promise to do this). I was told that "most of these mistakes are usually caught during the fitting." The implication here was that it was somehow our fault that they did not catch the defect earlier in the process. I would think that all elements of the tuxedo rental would be inspected as the tuxedo was being assembled for rental. The fact that Top Hat Tuxedo apparently needed several opportunities to catch the defect is not my problem. In the end, the rental was a disappointment, but it was how bad and inconsistent the customer service was that ensured we won't be back. read more

Grooms suit was ordered not even close to the right size. they lied to us for 2 weeks before the wedding about a new suit coming in. We didn't have a suit for the groom until the night before our wedding. AT THE REHEARSAL DINNER!!! When the owner dropped the suit off at the rehearsal dinner it wasn't even the correct style or suit nor was it the right color!!!! It has been a month since the wedding and I am trying to get ahold of the owner for a refund but he will not return our calls, certified letters or emails!!!! Without a doubt the most rude place I have ever been to. I took my son to get a tuxedo for prom. The store was busy and I was told by the manager to put my name on a list and come back in an hour. I said are you sure? We can wait. She said go shopping and get something to eat and come back in an hour. I came back in 55 minutes and they scratched my name off the list and told me that they could not wait on me and moved my name to the bottom of the list or come back another day. I used them for my wedding and after all my friends has such a horrible experience with men's warehouse I was excited to use a local family owned business as they promised they would make my day perfect, not the case. They missed a groomsmans measurements completely after we said a few would be sending their measurements as they lived out of town, then when he got his they forgot a bow tie, someone else picked up the bow tie and it looked like a dog chewed on it before they gave it to him. The grooms tux was not the right size and they promised a free suit for him at the bridal show i met them at, if we placed the large party order with them, never received it. Father of the bride had a purple bow tie rather than hot pink as it was supposed to be, and the brides men we had someone ended up with black ties instead of bow ties as promised AND SPECIFIED, pocket squares were white not black as well. One brides men couldn't even button his jacket, I think they gave them the samples rather than ordering them in the correct size. The couple that owns the store is very nice but they really have to get it together or train their employees more thoroughly because I could not recommend them less after my wedding. Extremely underwhelmed and unimpressed with the service and turn out of the tuxedos for the wedding. Thankfully our photographers are skilled in photo editing. read more

This is the response I get after my review. 1 it's doesn't take 2 hours to get someone suits they have ordered. I clearly stated they came that day cause guys were in from out of town. Your excuses are bullshit. For the unsatisfactory service. I have no need to call you. I was in there already and expressed my opinion of the company and how horrible service was and all I was told was sorry. My fiance talked to someone there and came in and was told the same thing. You need a better system of doing things. A 2hour wait for someone to even bring out suits already paid for yo try on is unsatisfactory. My brother in law was there hours prior and waited so long he had to leave also. And you gave him the wrong suits. No other place to rent a suits from needs so many adj. And to actually have to check for stains. What are the people who wash the suits doing. All my friends used top hat tux for their prom stuff, and my uncle had his wedding here which I was a part of, and they did a good job. Everyone(myself included) looked very sharp at the wedding, I felt like a million bucks in this tux I was wearing it was this navy blue with black collar it was very stylish! I'm def gonna upload some pics soon! I even wore the same tux for my prom, and because me and all my friends got our tuxs there we got a fat discount! I had my reservations about getting a tux because I thought we'd all come out looking like silly penguins but I we all looked sleek, and sexy. The staff is very friendly, and knowledgeable our tailor was Tamber O. she measured us, and made sure everyone's clothing fit like a glove. No one looked silly, and I'm a slim muscular guy, and the tux she put me in was nice and fitted. I highly recommend her she's awesome! My Uncle said that the owner was a very nice guy too, he even saved my uncle money by giving us two free tux rentals for the wedding. One of which was given to me because I wanted this really expensive tux lol The location was very convenient as well, and they have a huge lot to park in so no worrying about parking. Tux rentals are expensive, but after shopping around this place had the lowest prices for the distance we were traveling. But the quality is very high, the garments I was wearing felt new. read more

I loved the service I received at Top Hat Tuxedo. I had a wedding party of 12-15 guys the weekend after prom was over. Brad and his team had everything ready without any problems. I had family from India who got measured the week of and everything was exceptional. We had to have short rise pants due to the height of the guys and without hesitation Brad said it would be handled. The men looked amazing and the fathers looked dashing. Everyone looked so sharp and I was so glad that I went with Top Hat Tuxedo. The service was unbeatable and I'll never go to a chain store. Worst customer service experience (Waterworks location) in getting a tux for a prom. Nobody greeted us, even looked at us, asked us to sign in at the counter via a sign taped to the front door. No estimate of waiting time and no interaction at all from the staff. Left after waiting 20 minutes and went to Top Hat Tuxedo (Pittsburgh Mills location...different owner), where the experience was the opposite. The crew at Top Hat was awesome! I tried many places before going to Top Hat as the only review available was negative, However, I'm here to tell you this place was GREAT!! Im a very picky person when it comes to my apparel, I won't wear anything that isn't slim fitting and modern. I also wanted suspenders and a self tie bow tie. The staff recommended a tuxedo with a true slim fit and modern look. I worked with Rusty on a later visit to pick out accessories for another event and and he even allowed me to try on the tuxedo with the accessories. As for price I was expecting to hear a number similar to Mens Warehouse because this was out of their "premium line" but when they rang me out it wasn't even close to what I had expected. Two days before my prom I went to try on the tuxedo, like i said before I am very picky and I noticed a minor issue with the length of the pants, and the girl helping me told me she would hem them while i waited, 15 minutes later I tried them on again and they were perfect. I even got taught a few tricks for tying the bow tie. In about a half an hour I was walking out with a tuxedo that made me feel like a million bucks. I couldn't have been more satisfied. This years return was even better as they recognized me from the prior year and helped me get into that look I wanted just as they did last year. They have added a few more tuxes to the line up and are running a great suit special I might have to take advantage of before i head off to college. 2 for 279! Top Hat is the only wedding vendor that wasn't a perfect experience for us. This was disappointing because when we had our first consultation with them and picked out our suits, the service was great, and we were excited to support a small business in the area. This changed drastically the day that some of our guys went there to pick up their rentals. I am pretty sure they charged us twice for part of a suit, and would not budge on this, so we are out the seventy dollars I guess. Also, many members of our bridal party waited over two hours that day for service. They should have warned us in advance that the wait could be so long because two of my groomsmen missed our wedding rehearsal because of Top Hat Tuxedo. They also gave the GROOM the wrong size coat for his suit. That is unacceptable in my opinion. One of the salespeople was also rude to my sister. They seem very understaffed for the amount of business that they take on, so I'm not sure I recommend them. However, it sounds like everyone has a terrible experience no matter where they rent tuxedos or suits. read more

Nothing fit my wedding party. This was the only vendor I was extremely disappointing by. It was never clear about what everyone was paying. Overall a complete disaster. We didn't like how things were going and they said "you signed a contract". They were not willing to help us when nothing fit. My ring bearers looked ridiculous. Horrible experience! Stay away from Top Hat Tuxedo and choose another place to give your tuxedo rental business. First, rented a tux for my son. Bought a pair of suspenders there because they did not have the right color suspenders for rent. They made it clear that they would not sew on the buttons for the suspenders. I told them that I think they should, even if they have to charge me extra, because they sell the suspenders. They of course denied my request, which meant that I had to sew on the buttons and repress the pants because they got wrinkled during the button sewing process. Second, we were told to come on Friday between 3 and 8 pm. When my son arrived some of his friends had been waiting 4 hours at that point and still had not received their tuxes. No organization and they should have had pick up by appointment. Instead you had people waiting for hours and hours. Third, while I was repressing the pants after sewing on the suspender buttons, i noticed that one pant leg was not hemmed. So, now, I have to hem the pants and repress again. In May 2016 we went to Top Hat Tuxedo for my son's senior prom. We had a bad experience so we wrote the owner a letter requesting our money refunded. Here is the context of the letter: During the initial visit on May 5, 2016 for the fitting, everything went well. Alex assisted us during this visit and was very professional and helpful. On Friday, 05/13/2016 around 12:15 pm we arrived at your store to pick up the tuxedo. My son tried on the tuxedo to find that the shirt was stained and the pants were not hemmed. Kelly Hazel assisted us during this visit. She marked the pants where they needed hemmed and replaced the shirt. She said the alterations would take about 45 minutes. She was very apologetic and professional. At about 2:00 pm we returned to the store. My son tried on the tuxedo again. This time, the pants still were not hemmed and we noticed that the front crouch area of the pants was badly snagged. Alex assisted us during this 3rd visit. He replaced the pants and measured for the hemming. He said the alterations would take about 20-25 minutes. We were able to pick up the tuxedo at 3:00 pm. Once again, he was very professional and helpful. After we returned home my son put on the tuxedo. The fit was fine but we noticed that the pants were stained on both leg fronts and the shoelace on the left shoe was cut/short and fraying. In addition, on his was to the prom, one of the buttons fell off of the jacket. The only thing pleasant about the experience was the employees who assisted us. The attention to the alterations was unprofessional and unacceptable. The condition of the tuxedo and shoes / shoes, fair and grossly overpriced. I am requesting that our money be refunded for the tuxedo rental due to the condition of the products, the unprofessional attention to the requested alterations, the aggravation, the inconvenience and the time it took for us to finally get the tuxedo with the correct sizing. I am enclosing a copy of the receipt/write up that shows all the alterations that were needed. We never heard a word from the owner. read more
