Worst haircut I have ever gotten. I told the woman Olga i wanted my hair to be medium length on top so I could style a comb over. With a buzz on the sides. She shaved my entire head and I look like I just got out of the Army. She didn't listen to a word I said and I went in with my friend who requested the same exact haircut. He was serviced by a different barber and his haircut took 3x the time, and looks exactly like what I asked for. I waited for him for 40 minutes and asked them to fix my hair. They told me it was due to the quality of my hair (first time I ever heard my hair quality wasn't good) and didn't offer any help. Don't go here read more

So as everyone knows I've been commuting Back and forth from New Jersey to Long Beach on the weekends, so first I want to apologize for my lack of reviews. Anyway, living off the turnpike in the sticks of New Jersey really can humble someone who is so cocky! Back to the matter at hand, Top Hat Barbershop. What a salon! My first experience I'll never forget. I had just came off a three day bender and hadn't showered since Thursday. I was in dire need of a shape up! I walked into top hat and the owner knew exactly what I needed!! I sat in the Al Capone style chair and the barber put a bowl on my head and gave me the best mushroom haircut this side of the Mississippi. Worst hair cut I have ever had. The guy did not understand what scissor cut meant when I asked him to use scissors in the front. Took a Razer and went straight across my head making shorter than I have ever had in my life. I even showed him with my fingers that I wanted a quarter of am inch TRIMMED off my front since I flip my hair. Instead he cut the entire thing off and I can't even gel it now since he decoded to give me a cru cut. Worst experience ever. read more

Went to this barber for years are usually go to the gentleman by the name of Max which is very good. Unfortunately today was his day off I asked a young lady if she would not mind to wear a mask she refused. I explain to her that I am immune compromised and cannot take any chances I had a new masks in a container to let her wear one. The otheryoung lady gave me an excuse that she could not cut my hair because her legs were tired. Needless to say I left and went to a different place to get a haircut. The gentleman was more than willing to put a mask on after I explained my situation. The young woman apparently did not remember a couple of times that she cut my hair she did wear a mask. Now she refused and says that she has asthma and that was the reason for not wearing a mask. So apparently six months ago Iit didn't bother her asthma, but today it does. I guess I will not go back there any longer. Their loss. A place that I went to where the gentleman was more than willing to be accommodating was majestic Barber on Park Avenue diagonally across the street from Starbucks. Needless to say the girl at top hat Lost out on a pretty good tip. The guy at Majestic I gave him a $20 tip for being accommodating. read more

From what I understand ,Top Hat is under new management/ ownership , Anyway when I was going to them frequently , good haircut was charged $15.00 + $5.00 tip , Now under this change of management I go in for a haircut very recently,good haircut ( And btw , it takes no more than 5 minutes to cut my hair , ) done within 5 min, Was charged $20.00 + $5.00 .......$25.00 for a haircut in a neighborhood shop is not going to go well...... Especially with the senior citizens . They must be focusing on a younger clientele. Anyway I do wish them much sucess , it's not easy running a any business now a days. read more

This barber is great. I went in for a simple shaving of my head. I thought I'd receive the normal 5 minutes of my head being shaved. Instead, the barber took her time followed by shaving cream and a straight razor on my side burns and neck. Then, I received a hot towel on my face and neck. While reliving my glory days and taking a trip down memory lane in the West End, I decided to stop in and get a haircut. Went here on a recommendation, and went to the first chair. Asked for a fade on the sides and I didn't get a fade. The sides weren't even blended. Went back weeks later to see if the 2nd chair was any better. Overall got a slighly better haircut. However, the barber had an attitude and kept aggressively moving my head and would get annoyed if I readjusted. These old men should retire... read more
