Terrible haircut.. the guy kept asking me how to cut it. That's your job?? I showed you a picture of how I wanted it. I've gone to multiple different salons and they all know how to cut my style after seeing a picture. It's not a difficult cut. The guy cutting my hair was lazy and unknowledgeable. Not friendly at all. The man seemed annoyed that I was telling him what kind of cut I would like my son to have along with the length. I won't say he was rude but definitely not friendly and didn't do a good job. The right side is uneven from the left side. I wouldn't go back. read more

Another great visit to the barber for my son who has autism. Nathan did a great job cutting my son's hair and did not rush through it or give my son a crew cut. He talked to my son the whole time and kept his attention. Nathan is an excellent barber and he is the only one that I trust with cutting my son's hair. Really good guys here cutting hair, very kind and courteous. But I shouldn't have say that one side of my fade is uneven compared to the other. And you not recognizing that doesn't help a customer have confidence in the barber. I would come back but maybe a different barber. read more

Wow where do I begin This is one of the best barber shops I have been to in over 20 years! I mean seriously, 10 dollars for a quick and satisfying haircut/shave that's amazing. Every time you come in you are greeted by nice and social employees who make you feel comfortable and you can really have a nice conversation. Not only that but they are great with children. My 8 year old child gets haircuts here very often and he gets a beautiful haircut and it is only 8 dollars. With 6 employees working at a time the wait at most is 5-10 minutes. Stopped in to pick up a card and get information on cuts for afro hair while walking by one day. There were 3 or 4 men inside who neither seemed to be employees nor customers, hanging about, making wisecracks, and generally not welcoming or conducive to a proper business atmosphere. Ignoring their unfriendly manner, the actually barber and possibly owner was friendly and able to dig up a business card to pass on and seemed willing and able to do the job. Based on the interaction with the barber alone, I'd recommend the place, however a star deducted for the loiterers who were neither helpful nor appreciated. I try to support local so I'd still recommend you stop by and check this place out yourself. read more

Love this place. Decided to try this place after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp. I only let Nathan cut my hair, and he's a really chill guy, and gives me great cuts. An added bonus is that he always answers the phone promptly when I call (I like to check what the wait time is before I go). The prices are also unbelievable, only $6 for shape-up and $12 for haircut. Amazing!! This is my new barber shop! read more

I used to go here back when it was under the old management, and their service was not up to my liking. Heard that the place now had a new owner with a new team of barbers and had to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The new management is great! I've now been coming here for my last few haircuts and everybody is very friendly and experienced. Definitely check this place out. read more

Grew up in garden city and haven't been back to this shop in a while. I remember when I first started coming here over 20 years ago and the haircut was $5 . Just got a haircut from the new owner Nathan and not only was it a great cut but the price was only $12. Nathan was also a great guy.. I wish him the best of Luck! Had a really good experience here with the new staff! I came in, and I guess I got lucky, because there was no line. I just sat down and got my haircut from one of the barbers. I probably got the best skin fade from the barber that I ever got in a long time. I even had a genuine conversation with the people here while I was getting my haircut to pass the time. First experience with Nathan at the Plaza Barber Shop. Not only does he know how to cut hair with great skill, he's also a nice guy to talk with while you're sitting in the chair. He took a look at the picture that I brought, talked about what I wanted a bit more, and then went to it. The price is amazing. He works in NYC as well and can do all of the trendy styles for men (see the pictures). Another positive was that I didn't feel the usual attitude that I've experienced at other barbers. I felt right at home, like I was talking to someone I've known for a long time. It's a great choice. I didn't mention how many barbers I drove by to get to the Plaza Barber Shop.
