Dr. Goto is amazing! He is my son's first dentist and the initial visit was great. The dental staff is so friendly and you can tell they are seasoned pros. My son wasn't too keen (this is an understatement, he was screaming!) on being in that dental chair and I felt so bad for the office but they made my son, my husband and I feel at ease. We had an incident at the start of COVID19 that required us to take my son to the emergency room. It took a while for the doctors to figure out it was a tooth abscess. The surgeon was so professional but tooth extraction wasn't his area of expertise and I wanted our dentist to be in the loop about what was happening with my son's tooth. I contacted Dr. Goto and he ended up coming to the hospital very early the next morning to assist the surgeon in the tooth extraction. He then followed up personally with my son's recovery! This kind of service and level of care is amazing! The office is also so kid friendly and it makes the whole experience fun for them. read more

I could not be happier with our experience with Dr. Goto and Auntie Rachel. The office is beautiful, immaculate and welcome on all levels. My 4 year old daughter was able to sit on my lap while watching a movie. Everything was explained to her in a way that appealed to her interests, addressed her potential fears before they occurred and kept her informed. As a parent who never had cavities as a child, the presence of 3 ca has me especially concerned. Dr. Goto put me at ease explaining the approach for treatment to avoid trauma. I recently got scolding from a good friend of mine to take my daughter to the dentist for the first time. As a first time parent, I didn't know you were supposed to take them in after their first tooth comes out. My pediatrician told us to come after eight teeth. I told my friend that and she nearly fell out of her chair. Especially since my daughter has seven teeth. Heck, if I didn't meet her I would've just waited probably another month or so to go to the dentist. Anyways I didn't know any pediatric dentist so I just looked up ones on Yelp. Diamond Head Children's Dentistry seemed very popular and well liked. I decided to give them a call to see if they were taking any new patients. To my luck, they were and they were able to schedule me right away. Oh course I wasn't exactly excited to take her to a dentist appointment. I kept thinking of all the scenarios of her sitting in that dentist chair. It was gonna be bad. She's such a wiggle worm, she can't even sit still for five minutes. And then to have someone touching in her mouth, oh I just knew it was gonna be bad. But it really wasn't. The dentist came in and explained how they do things. They like to keep checking the teeth time at a minimum so the kid doesn't hate coming to the dentist. And over time they will increase the visit. He also showed how to brush her teeth and gave me more advice for when she gets older and more wiggly, haha. He brushed her teeth for a minute and she cried but it was good. It was so short and she was done crying when we left the office. I'm glad that I chose this dentist for my daughter. They really take the time to explain things and try their best to make the patients feel comfortable. read more

Every single staff made us feel welcomed. The whole office was catered to kids which was absolutely awesome. Even the bathroom, they had a toddler seat for the toilet which I loved because we just finished potty training our son. My kids were able to occupy themselves at the kiddie table with the toys while I spoke to the receptionist to schedule appointments & what not. My kids definitely had a great experience. It was also very clean which was reassuring to see, since we're all in edge about illness. They communicated very well with our 2 year old and showed her exactly what to expect. Fantastic experience during this frightening COVID experience. staff contacted me weeks prior to our appointment to ask whether or not we wanted to keep it, and were not pushy at all while letting me know of safety protocols--which were solid and easy to follow. Appreciated use of SMS for communications. Day of was happy to see that waiting room was kept at minimum (one other family), toy area blocked off, everyone including us in PPE, and quick processing both in and out. Hygienist was super kid-friendly, efficient and thorough while being gentle, including nervous first time doing a high tech xray. My son loved the tv and seemed to feel at ease at the kid friendly decor, but what really made the difference in my opinion were the attitudes and abilities of the hygienist and doctor (Goto). This office has the best atmosphere for kids. It's big and bright and cheery. The staff is super nice to the kids. The waiting area has lots of toys and books. The rooms inside have TVs playing kids movies. The bathroom has a changing table. After the appointment, each child gets to take a toy from a big toy dispenser. Parents get a free toothbrush set if they check in on Yelp! So if you're looking for the perfect place to introduce your child to the dentist, this is it. Your child will have lots of opportunities to have a great experience. I was so surprised when I brought my fussy baby here and he cooperated. He did scream at them when asked to lie down because he absolutely hates being immobile but he let Dr. Goto brush his teeth and then he stopped yelling as soon as they let him sit up again. He yelled again on the second visit. The third time, he was almost three years old so he did great and let Dr. Goto brush his teeth a long time. I noticed he really went at it hard, unlike me because honestly sometimes I go fast because the kid barely has any teeth! As soon as we left, my son turned to me and said, "Mama, that dentist is really really strong!" Ha ha ha! After that, my son graduated to the big kids room with the hygienists and I don't have to go in with him anymore! Everyone is efficient here but they are also personable and professional. Dr. Goto always takes the time to talk to parents about their concerns and follows up. First time for my son (two years old), as soon as we walk through the front door we were greeted! And of course the kiddos gravitated right to the kids corner filled with toys. There was a short wait and since it was our first time we were given the tour, though not a very big office but just perfect for the children. Very animated workers and appealing wall art from many Disney movies. As we waited for Dr.Goto one of the dental assistants were causally "talking stories" with us and I found t quite pleasant. When Doctor arrived he gave us a run down of how the appointment would go, and got right into it. He tried to make it a counting game with my son, but he was not having it. Luckily, it's their specialty so Dr and the assistant handled it perfectly! And within 10-12 minutes it was all over. They handled it with ease and professionalism! As we were leaving and scheduling our next six month, the receptionist noticed I had my niece with me and asked if she wanted to be seen since there was a cancellation... it worked out so perfect because I called and asked to schedule for her and since they were busy she said if they had an opening while we were their for my son they could take her! If I could give more stars I would. Definitely found a dentist that I know all my children will love. We just moved to Kahala and my 4 year old had a toothache so bad that she was fussing all night. I found DHCD on Yelp and called the office first thing in the morning. Yelp said they opened at 9:00am and even though I called around 7:30am, one of the girls picked up and was happy to help answer all my questions. They were able to squeeze me in for an appointment on the same day which was such a relief. The location is perfect and only a few minutes away from where we live. I must've gotten lucky, because the parking lot was empty when I got there but I know everyone else on here has complaints of the limited staples. As soon as you walk in, the staff are so welcoming and literally as soon as I finished all the paperwork we were called to go in to get my daughter examined. Every single staff member was pleasant and made sure my daughter was comfortable at all times. Thank god for them playing Moana on the tv screen which definitely helped in keeping my baby distracted. I can't remember the hygienists name but she was very patient and took her time, always making sure my daughter knew what was coming next and letting her handle the tools before she performed anything. I've taken my children to other dental offices in the past and not one can compare to DHDC's expertise. I can't wait to take my older children here just so they can meet all the wonderful staff. I wish I could give more stars. The staff here is so amazing. They are so kind and sweet, they make going to the dentist fun. My daughter had some cavities, she is 3 so sitting still for long is not an option. Dr. Goto and his assistant were so fast and woekred so well together the whole procedure took about 10-15 minutes. After the kids are done they get a coin to put in a giant machine (like a gumball machine but filled with toys - which is so smart because the kids don't take so long deciding what to choose) A few days after our appointment, Dr. Goto text me to check on her to see how she's feeling. That is the first time I have ever had a dentist check in personally by text. They take all types of insurance, they remind you day before and day of by text for your appointments (life saver!). This place is a total scam. My daughter had a visible cavity that they said didn't need to be taken care of. It got worse and I took her to my dentist and he was shocked they let it get so bad, now it's three teeth. Their x rays were unusable. Went to another pediatric dentist (not even one recommended by my dentist but selected independently) they confirmed the same thing and were so much better. Our younger daughter went in and their "cleaning" was a brushing that wasn't even as thorough as we do daily. A friend recommended this place and also found a new one after their son had a similar issue. The people at the front desk and the location and kids themed rooms are what you are paying for. I believe they intentionally let the issues get out of hand so they can bump the price up to address them, it's that or they're completely incompetent. Three dentist in total who didn't speak to each other but just looked at the issue all came to the same conclusion. Yelp score seems to suggest they are good with pr or online marketing. read more

My son is so bad even on his daily brushing, usually screams every night during brushing, but doctor somehow managed to let him open his mouth and clean, without usual screaming. We just went in for a cavity filling, and our 7 year old was in an out in 20 min! No numbing and no pain. Dr. Goto jut got a new electric drill that vibrates at a frequency that doesn't activate the pain receptors as much as tradition drills (he can explain to you how it works ). I was in awe that my son happily bounced out of the office with his toy and stories about the dinosaur movie he was watching. We were in Oahu due to a work assignment and our 5 year old was having teeth sensitivity due to a cavity (we have been avoiding the dentist/medical care due to COVID concerns). The office took us right in as if we were living locally and helped with a quick and necessary temporary filling. My daughter loved the experience - so much so we wished we lived here longer and Diamond Head Children's Dentistry could be our regular dentist! My son hates going to the dentist due to several bad experiences in another dental clinic. I even had to switch our insurance provider because they did not have in-network pediatric dentistry services available. To take full advantage of our new dental coverage, I chose Diamond Head Children's Dentistry for both my kids. They scheduled the appointment so that both my kids were seen at the same time. My daughter's first dental visit was intimidating for her but Dr. Goto did everything to make it as comfortable as possible! We also explained to Dr. Goto about my son's fear of being at the dentist and his previous bad experiences. He was very professional, understanding of the situation, and had a positive attitude. As for my son, he was calm and actually enjoyed his dental visit. The hygienist was patient with my son and showed my son that the dental instruments are not going to hurt him. Dr. Goto is friendly and patient too during my son's cavity extraction procedures. Both times, Dr. Goto had called the next day after the procedure to follow up to see how my son was doing.
