We've been bringing our daughter here since she was a baby, shes now 3 and this most recent visit was the most involved. The hygienist was amazing at making the visit fun and easy for my daughter. We saw Dr Hans and he was amazing too. She left with a great impression of the dentist. There was lots of toys and things to do in the waiting room too. A few months ago I got the sad news that they will no longer take my daughters insurance. Unless I'm willing to pay out of pocket. As much as I'm heart broken and really love this place I decided that I'll find another dental for my daughter. This place is the best! They had always made my daughter feel very comfortable. She's never afraid to go in and even gets excited to get her teeth check. The only down side is that they are so booked that sometimes you'll have to wait months and months for an appointment. I hope one day they'll decide to take my daughters insurance again or we find a new one and come back! I highly recommend this place. read more

My daughter Isabel is 8-years old and had the nastiest infection in her tooth. After seeing Dr. Goto a few weeks back, he informed us that we needed to put her on antibiotics and schedule an extraction. It got so bad today that we had to pull her out of school and thankfully we were able to get the extraction done today. After the nightmare story a few years back about the little girl that died during a visit to the dentist, I'm sure all parents have a scary little voice in the back of their minds with a horrible "what if..." scenario. My "what if" was working overtime, but I trust Dr. Goto completely and love that I have the option of being in the room at all times. Isabel's biggest worry about today's procedure was getting a shot, but thankfully she was able to get gas. Dr. Goto and his assistant were so friendly and used to having kids as their patients, so they put her at ease quickly and the extraction was done in what felt like five minutes, but was probably 10-15 minutes. Everything went very smoothly and they put my daughter's tooth in a tiny little plastic purple treasure chest for her to take home for the Tooth Fairy. She also got a coin for the giant toy machine by the front desk. All my "what if" voices are completely silent. Today has been the most insane manic Monday, and I'm super grateful we made the choice to have Dr. Goto as our pediatric dentist! read more

My son has been a patient here for at least 3 yrs. He loved the previous dentist that owned the practice and we were nervous that when he left the incoming dentist would change things or wouldn't be as good. However Dr. Goto is great! The entire staff is wonderful, its easy to get an appointment and everything that's geared towards the kids is really fun. I really love this place! My kids have been going to this location since they were a year old. In fact my daughter first started going here when Dr Yamada owned it and when he sold it to Dr Goto we decided to stay. Dr Goto is a very good Dentist. Super nice and personable. I'm glad we stayed. All the hygienists are nice and very personable as well. They do make the kids feel comfortable at all times. Never had problems here. I highly do recommend this location. I am so sad that he will not be taking Medicaid patients anymore. I totally understand. But anyone looking for a pediatric dentist, Dr Goto and his hygienists here is the place to be! We have been coming to DHCD (I guess now "ToothBuds"?) since my daughter was about 4 or 5 years old. They have done a great job with her teeth. I think she had 1 cavity, very early, in the 7-8 years we have been coming here. My daughter never complains about her visits. That says A LOT about her experiences here!! Side Note: Rescheduling if you need to cancel sometimes means you can't get an appointment for quite awhile. I can't remember who they recommend for orthopedic work but we ended up going with someone else, Hawaii Orthodontist (HIGHLY recommended them). She finishes her Invisalign treatment this month, wooohooo!!! read more

1st Time here. Waiting room Pros: colorful, lots of delightful images on the walls, nice and bright with open lighting and a little play corner for the kiddos. Cons: Children's play corner is kinda dingy, I'd suggest you bring wipes to clean your child's hands after play. read more

We switched all of our kids over from another pediatric dentist after many years of repeatedly experiencing unease or a hunch that things were not right, esp when they never let parents in with the children. From the start, Dr. Goto made us feel welcome and at ease. Both our dentist and hygienist were informative and honest. My daughter was afraid to get her cavities filled, but Dr Goto walked her through every step, showed her his tools and explained what he was doing next. They allowed me to be there too, and I softly rubbed her legs to calm her anxiety. It was over and done with in 20 minutes from start to finish. My young daughter silently cried (right after) because she was so worried that it would be another bad experience, but relieved that it wasn't. (PTSD from her previous dentist!) She said she was happy and said, "that was drastically different from my other dentist who would wrap me up and I couldn't move my arms!" (Terrible.) Don't go to anyone else in the Kahala area. Here in Wakiki for a family vacation and my 2 year old son fell face first and chipped a tooth and cracked the other one. The cracked one went vertical up to the gums so it couldn't be saved, the Dr had to extract it. He didn't a great job doing it. He explained the process and was very nice. Overall, a really great experience!! The assisting staff including front desk are so friendly and professional! The dental assistant, name Sarah, was amazing! So friendly and patient with my babygirl. She is not yet 2, so she can be really fidgety... but she made it a smooth experience and I appreciated that she interacted with my daughter a lot. One of the things that I like about this place, is that they text and email beforehand about the insurance and approx how much it will cost. They also go over exactly what services are being done. My children love going to Diamond Head Childrens Dentistry! We've been with them for about 5 years now. For starters, it is cheerfully decorated with colored walls and cartoon characters all over. There are TVs visible from all exam chairs, playing cartoon movies continuously. The staff are always nice, friendly and so appropriate for kids. They always have the appropriate amount of staff, so waiting has never been an issue. My four kids are usually seen at the same time by different hygienist, then Dr.Goto comes over to do the final check. Dr. Goto is always pleasant, takes the time to explain things and allows time for questions. I also like that they ask the kids if they have questions. They have a separate procedure room for filling cavities etc, and they allow parents in there to sit on the side with your child. Our previous dentist didn't allow this, which was weird to me because my child was three at the time. Today was our first appt during CoVid time. I felt they were very clean, hand sanitizer is available, they cleaned the chairs immediately after my kids were done. Face masks are required. All staff wore masks and face shields ( which they actually did when there wasn't a pandemic) Always a great experience!!! read more

We brought our 1 years old daughter to this clinic for the first time, and we love this place, it's so clean, and everyone there are very friendly! We were really happy with everything, so I recommend to all of my friends! This was our first appointment to this beautiful and clean office. Dr. Goto & staff really made us feel welcomed. A few things that stuck out to me... cleanliness like I said in the beginning, they had toys for the kids to keep them a little occupied, no wait time to be seen, & this mama could go back with her daughter (something I wasn't able to do at our other dental office) which I love to be able to be there for my children especially when they're feeling scared. We went to see Dr. Goto and staff for a second opinion & were soo glad we did. We were told my daughter needed a crown on her baby molar & from the looks of it the picture really didn't scream crown. Well Dr. Goto reassured me that it was not needed and took care of a tiny cavity. Thank you soo much for all that you do & we're looking forward to seeing you and your staff again soon! read more

Told the dentist assistant about my previous encounter with a very mean rude dentist & how they treated my son. She was AMAZING told him everything she was gonna do to his teeth & what the tools were so calm Kind patient didn't rush him made him feel safe & comfortable I wish I remembered her name ! She was the sweetest we appreciate you & your kindness towards us! Also the dentist was very nice & kind as well. I have 3 chidren. We were all afraid of the dentist till we started coming here! This place is super fun from the games, the after visit prize, tvs on the ceiling and the super fun pictures on the wall. Not to mention, the awesome staff! After the visit, the kids don't even want to leave. As a parent, a big concern for me was, will certain treatments being pushed hard on me/my children, would we be pressured into doing extensive procedures and I am not getting that vibe here at all. There was no pressure or hard push on fluoride, and Dr. Lauren Young is the first dr/dentist to ever acknowledge my son's mthfr mutation while coming up with a treatment plan! Mthfr mutation is a very common mutation that most medical professionals brush off and are uninformed about. So I was super shocked and pleased when she brought it up. At the end of the visit, the kids get a toothbrush and sparkly toothpaste. We are happy with this dentistry. read more

My kids love DHCD, and so do I! They make it so easy for all 3 of my children to be seen at once, which is very convenient being a parent of four. I drive all the way from Ewa because we like the office so much. The office staff is so friendly and accommodating. I appreciate the text reminders about appointments (much better than a phone call). The lobby is very child friendly, too! After a not great experience at another children's dentist on island, we hesitated finding one for quite awhile, but we are happy that we decided to listen to our friends' recommendations and come here. read more
