Saturday, November 26th marks the second time that I have gone to Too Ra Loo, was seated, and did not have a member of the waitstaff come to my table for a half hour. This place ought to show a little more care for its customers if it wants to stick around. read more

They serve off brand pop and don't tell you when you order it. The food was really bad too. The fish was soggy. They had a really limited menu which was half pizza and pasta, basically no Irish food. The prices were high on top of it, but even if the price were a bargain I would not return. I had to go get dessert next door to wash the terrible taste out of my mouth. Went to this establishment in rochester for dinner and a girls date. Too Ra Loo has an extremely weird atmosphere. One side is basically a sports bar the other side is the dining side. It was extremely noisy and loud. Their menu was astronomically priced, for their location and the atmosphere of the restaurant. I ordered the large margarita pizza which the waitress raved about, calling it was a "menu favorite." Needless to say, if that was the menu favorite, you really aren't missing out by not trying this place. The pizza was bland, soggy and tasted like cardboard. This place would be great to watch a game, get drinks and have mediocre food-- but if you are looking for a nice dinner, it's definitely not the place. read more

In short: good wait staff. Terrible owner. The long story: I'll be honest. Only post on yelp if the service was great. If it's bad, I usually just don't go back... but this was the worst experience I've ever had at any bar... I only found out about this place because of the band that was playing. All together, the group i was with was just over 40 people. We were all spread out throughout the bar. As tables cleared, one person in the group asked if we could bring more people over and use an open table. The owner started arguing and I heard her say that we didn't bring enough business to take up another table... so the rest of our party decided we would only get water and watch the band the rest of the night. After reading through some other reviews this "manager" sounds to be more of a villain being a repeat offender where apparently she had threatened to call the cops on another party. First of all, it was the Christmas lighting downtown this night so we went downtown with full understanding we may not even get a seat because we had made this a tradition we have done the last 5 years where we had been to several other restaurants in the area who were 100 times better than how this place is managed. This was the first time we have ever had this awful experience and personally the worst experience of customer service I had ever seen from a manager which turned out to be a cause of someone having a bad day and negatively impacting her other team members as well. First and foremost why this manager had gotten so upset was that my cousin had gotten there first and was seated by this operations manager, Robin who had said she had tables reserved for the night but could squeeze us in for an hour when clearly our whole party wasn't even there at the time with a group of 13 giving us 2 tables. Very irresponsible "promise" to make to the "reserved seating" that was promised their seats would be available. She advised she needed us out of our table by 6:30. By the time we even got our food on such a busy evening it was 5 minutes till, at 6:30 we saw the manager Robin pull our outstanding and accommodating waitress Mel aside pointing at us with very hostile intent and put Mel in the uncomfortable position to tell us we needed to go. Mel came up to us confused because she understood we were wrapping up already and just paying our bills, cashing out our keno, and still had our 6 years olds rushing to finishing up their food as well so we could go see Santa. Mel said confused that she was told we had been informed to be out by 6:30, but reassured us she wasn't rushing us as they would be seating that party in another section since there was no line at the door and at least 4 other empty tables that they were currently flipping over. As we were just putting our food in boxes, Robin decided to confront us (after the other party had been seated) at 6:40 and tell us it was now after 6:30 and we responded we were leaving and she immediately took offense and said she did us a favor to let us in and gave us a nice old sassy "Have a MERRY Christmas". After then she went to the hostess stand and continued to talk about us to the staff, pointing at us across the room in which I got up to ask for her name and our waitresses as they did such an outstanding job and the way she handled herself and the restaurant was with malicious intent which led her getting up close and personal to my face pointing at my family and trying to save herself with again complete rudeness in handling the situation inappropriately. After we got out of our one table of 4 I stayed behind while my cousin (who is also a local cop and never has the time off to spend with his famil) had to leave and leading them and their kids not being able to get to see Santa while we waited for our other table to be cashed out with my grandpa who flew in from out of state for this tradition and the holidays. We continued to watch our table that we were pushed out of by Robin and the very large table of about 6-8 person seating sit empty for the next 35 minutes. Clearly something was wrong with the "operations manager", Robin to the point of another manager to come out and directly ask for what happened as she informed me Robin was in the back all fired up about it and wanting the story as Robin was also very short with her and she herself had come in to help for the night and having to be put in this situation of confusion hearing that her manager handled a situation in appropriately. Too Ra Loo did have an absolutely great waiting staff and amazing food, we ordered steak, the steak tips, and pizzas in which all were outstanding but I can never in good honesty recommend this place even being a part of a local company in the area myself in good conscious as Robin is the perfect set up we see all of the time to destroy a place because of poor management which is unfair to the rest of her team at Too Ra Loo. *UPDATE: She has now become so bitter she is marking our yelp reviews as "funny". And threatened my family we are not aloud at this establishment anymore. That's the point of this awful review lady, we would never want to step foot and are trying to save others from making the mistake of "being squeezed in" and then yelled at because you clearly made a promise you could not keep. read more

Won't be back. The only good thing is the 80 beers on tap but the list was underwhelming and there weren't any sour bears out of all 80 they have. The meatballs appetizer had 3 meatballs and a piece and a half of bread and the balls were mediocre, the johnny p pizza was greasy yet dry and I had to get a side of sauce to dip it in, my husbands ravioli wasn't made in house and was only ravioli and sauce for $15, I could have made that at home and fed the whole family for that price. Nothing was exceptional expect the busy boy was friendly and speedy. Our server didn't even know what was on my pizza when I asked him about it. It was freezing in here too because the windows were open and it was 60 degrees out. You have glasses for the beer but my drink was in a chipped plastic cup. Finally you are an Italian restaurant posing as a Irish pub talk about an identity crisis. read more

With a name like too-ra-loo, you expect certain things. Like a great beer selection and Irish bar food. You will only get the beer selection. The food is all higher end Italian style stuff. The staff was unresponsive and the air conditioning was blasting on us on a mild fall day. We won't be back. We ended up telling the waitress forget it and we took a short walk down to O'Connor's instead. read more

Glass, a piece of glass in my ice water. Came up to my teeth in the straw. So the glasses are being used to scoop the ice in for water. The glass I had wasn't chipped, so that means it's a common practice. So glad I didn't swallow the piece of GLASS!! The waiter was great about it, but no one else was concerned. I figured this was what I needed to do to Warn people. If the employees are too LAZY to use the scoop, maybe us METAL or paper for water. After you dump the ICE. Hope the Health department will look into this. read more

Came here on a Thursday night. Three of us, they wouldn't give us a table because they might get busy. Even though there were at least 4 open tables. Sat at the bar and service only got worse. Didn't get what we ordered and it took forever to fix it. The workers just ignored the issue like it wasn't their problem. Food is good but service is terrible. We will not come back here. read more

This place is a real culinary disappointment. I can't even sugar coat it. I had the white fish pate, their clams and pasta dish, my friend had a pizza and a salad. The pate was tasteless and a real disaster, the pasta dish came out cold and flavor was bland, and they were not friendly when I asked if it could be reheated (not even replaced). The server asked like she was too busy for us, the pizza was ok but nothing outstanding either. I gave it 2 stars because they have a good beer selection, so I'd recommend it to get drinks, but avoid the food at all cost because on top of it not being good, it's overpriced. read more

I gave this place a few tries! My first few experience was poor, but after one outstanding experience with Chris I have decided that this place is good as long as he is behind the bar! The first time we came here the waitress completely messed up our order and took a hour to fix it then the second time we came we sat down and no one came up for 10 minutes when they fynally did the waitress seemed like a young snobby girl who did not want to be there what so ever and once again my pizza was messed up but he manager was great and corrected the food and took it off of our bill both times read more

I've been here a handful of times and until this evening my experiences have been pretty much average at best. Mackenzie was our waitress for our party of 5 this evening and she was absolutely fantastic - an asset as an invaluable waitress overall. So genuinely friendly, so accommodating - definitely cared about our experience! Food was great, we had some light bites, pizza, and a few fantastic cocktails. Try the Rosemary 75 . I hope this place makes it. We eat downtown Rochester at least once per week. Great location and atmosphere but going to give it a couple of months in hopes they get the kinks worked out. I don't believe the bartenders and the hostesses have much experience. We're told 15 minute wait for 7. Ordered a few drinks from bar which took forever despite plenty of open seats. In order to seat 7 they needed to push 2 tables together. Watched helplessly as hostesses (2) continuously sat smaller parties without planning ahead as to where to seat 7. Could have sat us in 10 minutes without causing others to wait longer. Had plenty of time to review menu. Lot of good looking pizzas but limited otherwise. Plenty of good beers on tap. However, we left after 35 minutes when it was obvious hostesses would not be able to figure out the seating puzzle. read more

I find it very disappointing when a place has super good food but that service and staff are terrible. We have been here a few times. My dad went a bit ago and he is a very diligent man when it comes to reviewing his pay statements, he noticed on a bill from Too-Ra-Loo that he got overcharged. He wasn't overcharged on the food however, but the SERVER increased his own tip, by quite a bit. He said when he went in to speak with the manager about it, that they didn't seem to care too much. The manger said that maybe the server mispunched, but you don't mispunch that many numbers. Now, my dad figured maybe it was a mistake, or he would just make sure never to have that server again. He went back another time after AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, the server increased his own tip AGAIN! My dad was extremely upset and does not want to come in again. So, if you are paying with your card, MAKE SURE YOU GO BACK AND CHECK THAT YOU WERE NOT OVERCHARGED. Once is a mistake, twice is not. Or otherwise pay in cash.. read more

Went for lunch today no lunch menu or specials. We got the Irish Nachos they were good. Not very crowded service was ok nothing special. The first beer I ordered was out the second was there and served in a tulip glass there was no cleaner taste, $7 kinda of expensive for a 12oz pour, we spent about $30 for a lunch with 3 beers and split the nachos. Was able to try this place for the first time a week ago. Sat at the bar with my sister. The bartender was attentive and friendly. I had an old fashion and my sister had a cocktail that the bartender helped her create. Didn't get the chance to try any of the food but the place was clean and comfortable. Beer selection is decent, but it's an Irish place that doesn't serve Irish food, which I found really disappointing. A member of the weight staff claimed it was because "Noone likes irish food." A statement I found to be a bit rude. If you want a real Irish bar I would recommend Gus O'Connor's down the street. read more

The food was pretty good. Wife had salmon sandwich, I had BLAT. Both were good. Skinny fries were crisp and hot. Gazpacho was just ok. Ambiance is loud. Great beer selection. Many TVs. Went on a week night, the decor was very nice for a sports bar. The menu was a little on the expensive side, but I did not mind since the food and service was fantastic! I recommend their maple bacon, it was a favorite with our group. The atmosphere was very relaxed without too much background noise so conversation was easy. Not too busy on a week night either if that's what you're looking for. I would definitely visit again as it was very nice for group outings. read more

I love this place in the heart of Rochester. The food is outstanding and very reasonable. Meatballs are to die for. I'm local chef with 25 years experience. I do local TV cooking shows. This culinary team is on pace to make great food on a consistent basis. I drove from Grosse pointe to try it. Met with a group of west side buddy's. We had a blast. Great energy and effort from the supporting cast. Pizza was on point. This place is only going to get better. You can sense it. read more

First of all, this place is going to go out of business if they continue to do business the way they do. The owner is the biggest prick on the planet. I would use some other choice words, but I'll keep it clean. The owner speaks to people as if she is better than everyone. Her staff is terrified of her. The only reason I stayed was for the singer who was playing that night. He was amazing. And our waitress was really awesome. The food is okay, drinks are the same as anywhere else. The owner will lose a ton of business after this however. I won't ever spend another dime in this restaurant. read more

Service sucked. We were sat quickly for a Saturday night but the service was terrible. Took 30 mins to order when it wasn't even busy. And when we finally ordered the entree took forever and our fries actually made it to the table rather quickly. Expect from the look of them, they were disappointing. The plate was half empty, and if you took one fry it was half the plate. The server took forever to come around and ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. Would never come back and dine in, if I absolutely needed to come back I would only sit at the bar. read more

Everybody is in good spirits here and the atmosphere is perfect for a double date or group event. We had the mussels and fried pickles appetizers, and both were devoured.
