Tony's share the building/parking lot with the Circle K gas station. Don't let that stop you from dining there. Very clean, simple family run establishment. Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Nothing fancy but the best authentic Mexican cuisine. Menu has a verity of choices. Food is served hot and plentiful. I ordered on DoorDash and got a Crispy Shrimp Taco, and the Chicken Fajita Taco and my friends got the Oreo Churros. When the food arrived it was still hot which was so nice and all of our items were there. Both of the tacos were AMAZING. I regret not trying Tony's Tacos earlier! Loved Tony's Tacos. I didn't think I would find a Don Murphy approved Mexican restaurant in Bloomington. I was in town for 2 nights and ate at Tony's twice. The first time I picked up my usual steak torta and chips and salsa. The torta was large and good. It had onions on it and I didn't realize, but it was still quite good. I was happy to find large slices of jalapeño and no iceberg lettuce. The chips were just out of the fryer and were super good. The red salsa is tasty, but I could use a little more fire in my salsa. The next time I visited Tony's I got the same meal, but this time ordered a strawberry horchata. I don't remember seeing or having one of those before, and I loved it. Lots of seating including window counter seating and a small amount of outdoor seating. This maybe a small chain because I think I saw another one downtown. read more

I used to go to LaBambas but under new management their customer service has tanked. I was told about Times Tony's by a friend, went in and now I head over there at least once a week. The wife and I were visiting the nephew at ISU, got hungry and found this restaurant on Yelp. We tried it and the Yelp reviews were not wrong. The food was very good. I had the chicken burrito and the wife had the carne asada burrito. Both were delicious. The nephew had carne asada tacos. This is a stealth delicious restaurant that attached to a gas station. Don't be dissuaded by that. It also has a decent, and cheap beer selection, including modelo. read more

Thank you Bloomington-Normal Restaurant Scene Facebook page for telling me about this restaurant. It is fantastic. Owner Tony is a Mexican native but he married an American and has been here eight years, working in other restaurants. Now, he is on his own and he is using family recipes (and family prepares & serves everything) and the food is outstanding. My co-worker ordered a taco salad and I ordered a ground beef burrito. I was a little hesitant because it's listed on the menu as beef and potato burrito. I envisioned the Taco John's version that has crusty, fried potato ole's embedded. But, Tony explained the meat included savory potatoes, peas and carrots. I decided to give it a try. IT WAS THE BEST BURRITO I THINK I'VE EVER EATEN!! My co-worker exclaimed the same thing about her taco salad. It was so funny, we both had to laugh. She also ordered a churro because she had never had one. I took a small bite and was sorry I didn't order one as well (but I'm a diabetic). However, I had to share the wonderfulness so I bought churros for the rest of the office and so did she. Rave reviews all around! Tony also threw in a dessert chimichanga and my one bit tasted like one of the best pies I've ever had with cherry and what tasted like gooey cream cheese. The menu has something for everything ... even picky kids. (corn dogs, grilled cheese, cheese fries, french fries, and something called pambasos. There are several other menu items I was not familiar with but I can't wait to go back and try them. Tony is working on getting photos up to help customers understand items they might not have seen before. This location has also been Nate's Diner and Rhythm and Booze -- both of which did not last longer than two years. I hope Tony's Tacos survives for many years and vow to help him spread the word. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Small, cozy, simple, and inviting. You feel like you came to your friends house to hang out and watch the game. Walk up, order your food, and sit down. They take care of the rest. The Mexican style burrito was recommended. It's a steak burrito cooked with jalapeños and onions. Added the optional beans, sour cream, tomatoes, and cheese. It was made to order so really hot and nicely fresh. An employee brought us some chips and a red and green sauce (in reusable squeeze bottles indicating they were made in house). They even brought us our food to our table...nice touch. So, down to it. The sauces were tasty. The green was the spicer one, the red had a smoked Taste to it so probably chipotle. The burrito arrived piping hot and cut in half. The onion and jalapeño really gave it a nice texture and boosted the flavor. Some of them were really nice and tender, others still had some crisp to it. The beans were probably the most disappointing part. They weren't bad, just lacked a distinct flavor; bland. The steak was well cooked, tender, not chewy. The flavors started to develop a few bites into the burrito (might have been too hot at first). The red sauce really brought the flavors out. It seemed like it accentuated the individual flavors of the peppers and onions while adding that light smokiness. While eating I saw huge piles of mouth watering nachos being brought out. I may have to dive into those next time. It's World Cup time so the giant TV was airing the Argentina/Nigeria game. Not a bad seat in the house! read more

Wish I could give zero stars but I had to give one to write a review. I'm vegan and ordered the vegan quesadilla with two things not on it. The only thing that I received on my quesadilla was beans. I called the restaurant back and they said they couldn't refund me or remake my food. Also waited 45 mins for my food to even come out. Terrible service. Just lost my business :( read more

I'm please to say that after over a year and a half of visiting Tony's Tacos that not only is the restaurant still here, but the food is just as good, if not better than the first time I experienced it. You absolutely must try the chorizo tacos, get them al pastor, thank me later. I also have enjoyed their chipotle burrito and my guilty pleasure is a side of chips and cheese. Tony's continues to be one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat on the go, and I'm glad to see lots of other people agree with me. read more

This place has awesome Mexican food and amazing beverages! Their carne asada burritos are to die for. Their covid response is amazing, all their employees wear masks and gloves. They have anti bacterial dispensers everywhere and the tables are constantly being wiped down as soon as you leave. I extremely recommend this place to anyone. read more

So as promised, I went back and it's safe to say that I won't be back. This review is based on my own experience so obviously do what you please. I went in on Friday, feeling low and wanting some greasy Mexican comfort food. I ordered 2 veggie tacos and the vegan nachos, it was an uneventful ordering experience. I get home, put on a movie to watch, and begin eating the nachos. They were okay; the vegan cheese and sour cream aren't my thing. At this point, I'm starting to really look forward to the tacos. I pick up one of the tacos and there is steak underneath. It's clear that I won't be comforted by this meal. I wasn't going to risk the potential contamination or risk there being meat in the tacos. I called Tony's Tacos and explained that there was meat in my veggie tacos. The person on the other end of the phone told me that they could either remake the tacos or issue me a refund, both of which would require me to travel back to the establishment. Trust is gone so I ask if she can refund my credit card for the tacos. She says "no" with an attitude like I am annoying her, so I told her that I was on my way then she snaps at me "don't forget the tacos, if you expect a refund." At this point, I am beyond annoyed. Customer service? I get to the restaurant with the tacos in the same condition that I received them in and instead of promptly issuing my refund, I have to wait for her and the cook to inspect the tacos to ensure that there is meat on it. Then they all laugh at the fact that I am requesting a refund for two pieces of steak being on the tacos. Empathy? There is a way to treat customers who have dietary restrictions when you make a mistake and this isn't it. I won't be back. read more
