STAY AWAY!!!!!!! Brought in a very expensive pair of Jimmy Choo satin slingbacks (to wear to my daughter's wedding ) to have the straps adjusted. Picked them up and there was a BLACK stain on the light pink satin. His solution was to put Windex on it, which left the black slightly lighter in color, but the pink, a very light pink around the stain. In essence ruining the fabric. Then, when trying to discuss with him how to come up with another/better fix, he told me "leave and don't come back. " No apology, No offer to give me my money back for the work done...WOW! read more

Poor craftsmanship. Requested to add a half sole and new heels for my cowboy boots. Ruined the welt and cut into the toe box. Dyed the white stitches brown to try hide the mis-stitching. This is place is a turn and burn shop. If you have handmade footwear send them somewhere where they actually care about their work. It'll cost more and take longer but you will be happier in the long run. read more

I came into the store looking to help moisturize and maintain a 100 year old incredibly rare hornback alligator bag that had a small half inch split on one side. Without even looking at the bag, the owner of this store sold me a bottle of "Angelus Leather Cleaner/Condition" which said it was for reptile/exotic skins. After following the directions on the bottle, it completely dried out my bag, stretching and splitting the leather apart, pulling it away from the stitching, crumbling the leather lining, causing the alligator scales to peel, which it definitely wasn't doing before. It completely destroyed an incredibly alligator bag $375 beyond repair. I went back to the shop and the moment he saw my back, he crossed his and became instantly defensive. I never once raised my voice and was simply trying to tell him that that "polish" was NOT for vintage or antique pieces. He kept interrupting me, telling me that it was impossible, that it was my fault, that simply COULDN'T happen, scoffing and laughing under his breath at me that the bag was already damaged, which excuse me but no it f*cking wasn't! My favorite part was when he told me that I was making HIM feel bad. Oh you feel bad? How do you think I feel! Not once did he apologize or offer to help. Not one single time. Zero empathy or accountability. I finally cut him off, rang him a new one and left in tears. DO NOT got to Tony's Shoe Repair, especially with rare or vintage pieces. The owner doesn't have a clue how to handle them and will end up destroying them. read more

I'm not a religious person, but I suspect that if Jesus made a better shoe repair shop he kept it in Heaven for his own self. Tony's is the best. Have I tried every other shop in the country to compare? No. Don't need to. You couldn't be any better. I've thrown 20 years of top shelf shoes to Tony's. By the way, Tony's Shoe repair IS open Saturday 10-6. Google said closed Saturday. When I checked the night before for hours, said Perm. Closed - WRONG. Yesterday, I took in 6 pairs of lady's shoes for heels and got them back today. Excellent fast work and friendly guy. I tried 3 or 4 other repair shops; this is the best. I bought a pair of boots from Amazon that I loved, however after one week of walking around NYC the heel fell off the bottom of one. Do you want to know what's faring well in this crappy economy? Old shoes, and Tony's Shoe Repair (case in point: me dropping off a favorite pair of old sandals). I haven't been to Tony's Shoe Repair since I was a wee little kid, and then it was only to accompany my Mom who frequented the place. (Big family, modest income, six kids, 12 active feet). So when I dropped off a sandal that needed repairs - it was like visiting my past, and there was a line of customers who were likely feeling the same way. Business may be thriving for Tony's Shoe Repair - but they aren't taking it for granted. Tony's still offers the same quick, honest assessment of the needed repair, relatively low repair costs, and no frills customer service. When I returned to pick up my sandals, he remembered me (as well as the multicolored button sandal I had dropped off), stuck it in a brown paper bag, and told me the amount due. I handed him a $5 bill, got lots of change back, and walked out feeling pretty darn proud of myself for beating the recession. read more

Was in Scottsdale in mid-January 2020 visiting my son when my wife in Tokyo tells me she's set up a 'departing on February 1st; 2-month trip for us to Thailand & Vietnam' ... Immediately, I panic because I look down and realize my Birkenstocks of many years are wearing through and past history says it always takes at least a week to get 'em resoled. So I start calling places, telling whoever answers I need new soles put on and I need them back sooner than a week. "Out of the question" was what I hear as they laughingly hang up. Then I called Tony's ... "Sure bring 'em in and they'll be ready two hours later." I do so, then came back two hours later, to pick up my Birkenstocks. They're ready, and they look great. I pay Tony, who comes across like a really good guy, and head out. Over the next few months I'm wearing my refurbished Birkenstocks in the Islands of Thailand; up & down the coast in Vietnam until the corona virus forces us back to Tokyo; then fearing being in a pandemic in the middle of 40 million people we flee to the islands between Japan & Taiwan; all the while I'm regularly wearing my Birkenstocks. Amazingly, they're still near perfect. No sure what he did, but I know where I'm going the next time I'm in Scottsdale, and what I'm bringing ... I took two pairs of shoes to Tony's, and was so impressed by the quality and service I would recommend it to everyone!! I needed to get a heel fixed on one pair and the other pair was a pair of Mary Jane's that needed to have the button replaced, the strap tightened, and the heels replaced. They fixed the heels in minutes, and took maybe half an hour to finish the straps. I am from CA, and will bring more shoes back here with me to take them to Tony's the next time I come. Truly a beacon of quality workmanship and superb customer service in a world where it is becoming harder and harder to find. read more

I had a pair of boots which required half soles & new heels. I requested leather half soles & pre-paid for the work. Even though the counter person offered to have the work completed the same day, I stated that I wanted them to have the time necessary to do good work & get it right - scheduling for a noon pick-up the following day. When I called to verify their completion before going in (around 11AM), the counterman stated that they would be ready when I came in... When I arrived at approx. 12:30PM, the counterman stated that he just needed to finish shining the boots (a short 5 minute wait). When handed the freshly polished boots, I noted that the sole repair was rubber instead of leather. I pointed out to the counterman that I had requested leather. The counterman consulted with the repairman, and the repairman came out to tell me that the soles were rubber to begin with (essentially calling me a liar). When I asked the counterman regarding the price difference between the leather and rubber replacement, he stated that I had been charged the rubber sole pricing. The counterman offered to re-do the repair with leather soles to make things right. At this point I had lost faith in this location of Tony's Shoe Repair and opted to leave with the rubber sole replacement. Technically, the actual repair work on the soles and heels was satisfactory. I just felt that the handling of the exchange was very poor at best. I will not return to this location.......... read more

I dropped off my favorite pair of boot scootin' (dancing) boots for new soles and heels right before they closed on Thursday. They were ready the next day and they looked and felt great. I thought the new soles would be stiff and I would have to break them in again, but that was not the case. Also, the price was very reasonable. I've had that type of work done at other places and paid a lot more and waited longer to get them back, so I'm a very happy customer.
