My husband dropped off a belt 3-4 weeks ago. It was a little too long so he wanted to have it shortened. He was told he'd receive a call when it's ready. Fast forward 4 weeks later and still no call. He stopped by there today and was told it'll be ready in 5 minutes. The woman quotes a price of $25 off the top of her head. Mind you, the work on the belt was good but $25 to simply shorten a belt AND they never even called to tell him it was ready. Now we know why they didn't call because it wasn't ready. I took a pair of new shoes in with an elastic heel that was too big. He cut & readjusted the elastic and made it so they fit comfortably and my feet don't slip out of them. What I wanted took a lot of patience and multiple measurements to make sure it was perfect and I appreciate his attention to detail. What an incredible experience! No one would resole my beloved boots. I even went as far as sending them to Mexico but not luck. Nerick said he could do it without a doubt. The boots were done in about a week and absolutely exceeded my expectations. Great shop with great old world craftsmanship. I've been sitting on this review to ensure that the quality work matched the price and it absolutely did. I was in need of a location that repairs heels and this place came to the rescue. I was overall pleased with the service that I received, especially since the turnaround was about 48 hours for 8 pairs of heels. The price was approximately $160 for all 8 shoes which was reasonable considering how many shoes I brought in. I brought a leather computer bag into their shop to have a zipper repaired. The lady who looked at the bag said there was nothing wrong with the zipper itself......the pull device on the zipper was the problem. It needed a minor adjustment. She repaired it immediately. Impressive work at a very reasonable price! I live in the Biltmore area and have been looking for a show place like an old place I used to use in Scottsdale...old-school quality. The owner of my old place retired and sold, and I moved soon after to Central Phoenix. Tried a few other places that were disappointing and expensive. Central Shoe Repair is my new place...highly recommend! The pics I uploaded are my Gordon Rush lace ups...I tore them up pretty badly at a rainy outdoor wedding on the coldest February day on record in Arizona, and hadn't worn them in months. This will be a short review because I didn't actually transact with them, but wanted to make sure I shouted out how honest they are! I wear my chelsea boots several times a week, if not every day, so one of the soles started becoming detached. I brought it in and the lady (bummed I didn't get her name) took a look and sadly explained they were beyond repair. She even demonstrated that for my specific shoe, they didn't have other soles that would fit it correctly. As sad as I was, I really appreciated her honesty! read more

My regular guy was on a rare vacation, so I took a couple pairs of my wife's shoes into Central Shoe. One pair of shoes were heels she wears for work, the "most comfortable" shoes she has found for this purpose. Her employer requires a specific look and even though there have been many similar pairs of shoes she has purchased since this "most comfortable" pair were new, she keeps going back to this pair. Anyway, they needed to be re heeled / re-soled and cleaned up. Central Shoe did a great job with this project. The shoes really looked as good as new when they were finished with them, however they had the shoes for a full week and they were not ready when they told me they would, so I had to make an extra trip by the store and barely got them back to my wife before she had to leave for a 2 week long work trip. Next were a pair of her Tory Burch sandals which just needed to be cleaned up. The shop only charged me $8 for this but when I picked them up they looked.....exactly the same as when I dropped them off. I questioned this and was told that was the best they could do. I think they just put them in a bag, forgot about them, then gave them back to me. read more

The notice on the front counter when you walk in the door says it all! It's worth the read! Very friendly, service was excellent and the work was reasonably priced. I dropped off 2 pairs of heels for my fiancé, 1 suede pair needed to be cleaned and brought back to life, and have the bottom of the heel replaced. They cleaned the heels, applied waterproofing to protect against future damage. The other just the bottom of the heel needed to be fixed. I walked out at under $60. This is my 1st time using a shoe repair store so I really don't have a comparative. I'm very pleased with the workmanship. The cost took me by complete surprise! I had a leather belt mended, 4 stitches and a medical gate belt that needed a plastic loop replaced. $25.00 A new gate belt is $12.00. In all fairness to this business, they fixed 2 zippers in just a couple of minutes, no charge. Does the fee balance out?? I think so! read more

Terrible first experience. While the shoes look great the turnaround time, service and cost were atrocious. I took 2 pairs of shoes in to be reheeled. I asked if they could be ready by Tuesday for a business trip and he wrote Tuesday on the claim check and gave it to me. I was unable to pick the shoes up before my flight Tuesday and retuned Friday. The shoes were not ready- another week they said. I finally return to pick up my shoes a week later, expecting to pay about $40 for the reheeling and they ring me up for $100.00. They perhaps could have shared this detail with me when I came in the first time- that they intended to charge me for a myriad of repairs that I didn't ask for. And when I question the woman behind the counter, she laughs and says, "ha, well no one ever asks the price, we just assume it's ok." After the guy at another repair shop on Central was rude to me, I took my Michael Kors pumps up the street to Central Shoe Repair. I'm so glad I did! Nerick and Bella were welcoming and, despite having a full shop, helped me quickly & efficiently. In between processing orders, Bella was running back and forth to pin a hem on a woman's jeans and answering questions other patrons threw out about what other services they offer (many!). While I was waiting, another woman's card was declined. Both owners were incredibly gracious as she dug for another card in her wallet and didn't make her feel uncomfortable at all. Their kindness really resonated with me, especially given what I'd just walked away from down the street! I came in on a Friday, and Bella explained she'd need until Monday to repair the heel tips on my pumps. She offered to rush it if I needed them for a weekend event, which was pretty cool of her, but I assured her Monday was no problem. Come Monday, they looked great (I'll attach a pic), and pickup was a breeze. Love finding top-notch local establishments! Will definitely be back. read more

Really truly, there is no better cobbler in Phoenix. I haven't had the occasion to give them any 'rescue' jobs, but I have full confidence that if I needed an important piece of footwear fixed or salvaged, they would be the place. What I have done here is had dress shoes & boots cleaned and shined about a half dozen times. Additionally, I've had full soles & heels put on also about a half dozen times for dress shoes & boots (clean and shine included) and have had cowboy boots done once. They always tell me what does or does not need to be done, and I am happy that they once upon at time recommended toe/heel plates for my dress shoes, it adds several months to the life of soles & heels. They have a sign at the counter that says something to the effect of 'you can have two of these three things: work done fast, work done well, work done cheap'. I'm probably misquoting that... but give them time, give them the fair price they ask for the work, and they will give you excellent work on your important shoes. read more

I had a pair of riding boots and the soles completely disintegrated as I was wearing them. I took them into Central Shoe Repair and appreciated her up-front honesty when she said, "The first thing you need to ask is, is it worth it to replace the soles? It will cost $85." Since the boots cost well over that ten years ago, I said yes it was. I was able to choose which soles I wanted out of a large assortment. I was told they'd be done in a week. I didn't get a call to say the boots were done, but a quick call to the shop confirmed they were indeed ready. I picked them up today. Wow. The soles are even better than when the boots were new--they are lighter, with better treads. The soles feel solid, the stitch-work looks great, and the boots are completely cleaned, too. We know exactly where to go if we need any repair work on shoes or other leather. These people are excellent. Well worth the 45-minute drive to get there. read more
