I have shopped at Tony's all my adult life. The freshness and service have been outstanding. However, ever since they remodeled their building and have new unrecognizable staff..the service has not been the same. There are some staff that seem bothered or border on rude. This was NEVER the case in the past. I was there today and when an older woman asked about crab when she was at the fish counter, she was told "right behind you"...no smile from the staff person...almost annoyed..he could have said "ma'am..its in the cooler behind you". Courtesy goes a long way..and it only takes a minute. I am happy to say the staff person who worked with me was extremely helpful...I am one to want the perfect piece of fish..I'll admit, but never to be bothersome...at 14.99 a lb on sale for haddock...I do like to choose my dinner. I think some customer service training or a reminder that we are the customer is invaluable. Wholefoods is up the street now..Tony's does work with them...I've seen their trucks in Providence...but I'd rather give my fish/seafood business to Tony's. Food for thought. read more

Had to grab some snow crab legs for my cousin's fiancé birthday party for a crab boil so I took a ride from Riverside to Seekonk to see what they had. I got some pics of outside and then went in. First thing off the bat was the smell in there. No fishy smell at all from this place which should be the first thing if you smell that smell iis to walk right out. It just smelled like fresh seafood! Now I know somewhat about crabs but I was told to get crabs legs so asked a very polite worker behind the counter and they pointed to the freezer case in the corner of the store. I grabbed 2 clusters of snow crab legs and just started looking around the store in general to see what they had. They had a great selection of fresh and frozen seafood, They had stuffies, and other prepared items. They can even cook you fresh lobsters there for you too! Over all a great mom and pop shop which was super clean inside for all your seafood needs! Great place and can't wait to go back and try some stuffies! Tony's sells the freshest seafood available. They also have ready to heat and serve products such as twice baked potatoes and squash. I love their tuna fish salad. The store is meticulously clean and pleasant to shop. read more

I admire Tony's for staying open during construction but feel they can do a bit better. Their 'store' is now a little tiny container with a refrigerator cooler inside. The fish is pre-packed. I was only there for 1 thing but imagine they roughly have the same selection as prior. For special orders or large orders I would definitely call in a day before to make sure they have what you need. The fish and everything is still super fresh, but my experience was that I did not get what I asked for. I wanted 1.5 lbs for cod loin for a specific recipe, which for whatever reason doesn't work with haddock or other more tender fish. Needs cod. When I got home the pre-weighed and pre-packaged fish said on it "cod/scrod" and definitely did not contain cod. Looked like haddock or similar to me. Scrod can be any white fish, like cod, haddock, hake, and even pollock. Shame on me for not checking ahead of time. Looking for other options while Tony's is remodeling but in the meantime looking forward for Tony's to be back as I really enjoy shopping here when it is the full store and full experience. read more

The remodel has created a very nice upscale seafood store. Immaculately clean and the product is fresh. They have expanded the premade salads and foods selections and they are very good. However, the prices are much higher than previously, which match the new bougie vibe of the store. In addition, Tony's is not particularly customer friendly. The clerks are gruff, appear irritated and just short of rude to customers. They are also less informed when asked about products. It is no longer the friendly neighborhood seafood store. Way different vibe but the products are top notch as always. read more

I always like this place. But every time, I get a rude remark or a steal from a man named Chris. That works there today is the 21st of December. This is the second encounter I had with him. He basically just scolded me like. I was a first grader and told me not to reach over the glass, which they have signs posted. And I can read and I was not reaching. I was pointing on the glass to show the boy. What piece of fish did I want? He screamed 2 times and didn't reach over the glass. Don't reach over the glass and then give me about 2 minutes. Sherry and I are Rhode Islanders transplanted to Kentucky. There are no local fish markets that have quahogs - the portly brother to the clam! We wanted to make stuffies for Christmas and needed shucked quahogs and shells. Plus canned crab for stuffed shrimp. Tony's froze two pints of shucked quahogs, and packed it along with 18 cleaned quahog shells and a chilled can of crab! It was perfect and so fresh! Our guests loved it all! Thanks Tony's!! First time last week. I typically go to Somerset or Fall River to get my steamers. There were 6 dead clams out of 6 lbs. They were excellent, not a trace of sand, and tasty. Went back the next day and purchased another pound for my clam-boil leftovers, and purchased haddock. The fish was excellent, and not a fish scent to be found! The stuffies, are my new addiction. I am so happy to have taken a chance and truly loved the freshness and quality. read more

Not a bad seafood market. They have a large selection and the employees are very friendly and helpful. This place can get packed with a "take a number" system in place. I went in for littlenecks. When the woman went to get them, there were a lot with broken shells in the bin. She was told by another worker than someone had went to get more. After a short wait someone dumped more littlenecks in the bin for her. There were so, so many broken ones. She went through picking out ones that weren't broken for me and putting the broken ones to the side. Even with her doing that when I opened the bag at home, I still had some broken ones. While she was taking care of me, someone else ordered littlenecks and the man taking care of him just loaded up the bag without checking to see how many were broken. I bet he wasn't very happy when he opened his bag at home. This just left a bad taste in my mouth. I would return, but I would keep a close eye when they were selecting my seafood or shellfish. read more

I've been a customer for 30+ years. But today that ended! I bought three pounds of steamers yesterday only to find more than 1/2 were just empty shells. They looked fine but oddly they were empty. When I went back toget a credit or replacement today they said I'd have bring back the empty shells, which went to the transfer station on the way to Tony's. It never occurred to me they would want the shells back. They were borderline rude and clearly not interested in making an accommodation. Never buy there again and I don't recommend it. read more

Tony's is one heck of a seafood joint. This always was our go to seafood place when my GF worked nearby. Unfortunately we don't get here as often but guys sometimes we will drive to the 'Konk just to get Tony's reasonable prices on seafood. Bar none, they always will have cheap deals on shelfish. But not only are the deals good, the people are extremely helpful. And randomly they have a decent selection of craft beers if you are into that sort of thing. read more

Your brand is not just your product it is the essence of your business personality. To have people screaming at a customer that the store is at capacity does harm to your brand image. No matter what the sign says on the door, an incoming customer cannot possibly see how many people are actually in the store shopping due to the large rack to the left of the door that blocks the sight line. So when a person walks out and the customer waiting outside thinks it's all right to go in to purchase some fish, why in the work would they know the store is still st capacity 3? No matter how good your food may be, we will never return as no one deserves to be treated like that. Tony's is without a doubt the best seafood market in the greater Providence area. Sure, it's about a fifteen minute drive from the PVD (might as well be in Boston by Rhode Island standards), but it's worth it to get the quality of food you'll find at Tony's, and at lower prices than Whole Foods. I've been going to Tony's for seafood since I was a kid, and I will continue to go for as long as I live in Rhode Island. They have everything you could possibly need for a seafood feast here. All sorts of fish, lobsters, crabs, oysters, clams of every shape and size as well as seafood salads, precooked shrimp, seafood pates, and dry goods that you would probably be looking for if you were cooking any one of those foods. The seafood itself is extremely fresh. I will often buy seafood at Whole Foods for the convenience factor, but when I make the drive to Seekonk, I am always happy, as you truly can taste the difference. Tony's will even shuck oysters for you or steam your lobster ahead of time if you're in a rush or squeamish, and you can't beat that kind of convenience. I've been going here for years. I live in Town. When I go to a local Seafood Market, the most important thing for me, and I would guess, most people, is freshness. In addition to product presentation, three indicators for me are the amount of traffic the store gets, how long it has been in business, and how many employees are working during peak times. This would indicate high turnover of inventory, and hence freshness. Tony's Seafood checks all the boxes for me! I have a high degree of trust in whatever I buy there. I know it's FRESH. The prices, for the most part, are pretty decent and the Quality and Selection are great. The young kid who served me was really helpful but some of the other employees are downright rude. I realize it must be irritating to have to continually inform customers who missed the sign on the door to step outside, as you are only allowed to have 3 shoppers inside at any given time due to Social Distancing Regulations. But to then make a series of loud comments about how "STUPID people are" and how "Some people just can't READ", is unacceptable. I watched as they belittled two elderly women and was not happy. They have a good selection of fresh fish and shellfish along with a nice assortment of prepared foods. Most weeks they feature a couple of deals which may well determine tonight's supper. I haven't been to many other seafood markets in the area, so i don't have much to compare it too, but i'm happy enough with Tony's that i don't see a reason to go elsewhere. Their prices are very good, like fresh local sword for $9 or $10 a pound. They'll give you ice for transport if you need, and they carry lemons and micro brew beer for one stop shopping. at one time this place made the best chowder in town... not so anymore. they load their chowder with red pepper, there should be no kick in chowder as a result you cannot taste the clam broth flavor.
