My cousin ordered 32 live lobsters for her annual gathering of family that includes my family. She had them delivered to her home. The Lobsters were steamed perfectly and served with drawn butter. They were 1 1/4 pounders with a shell you could crack. The lobster was sweet. Delicious. See photo. The outside kitchen at their home is well equipped. Before lobsters were served, they made homemade Clam Cakes. They were perfectly cooked with crispy golden exterior and crumbly interior. Outstanding. In addition, NE and Manhattan Clam Chowders were served. My favorite is always the homemade Portuguese inspired "Stuffies" my cousin serves. She prepares them with chopped fresh Quahog clams, finely chopped red pepper, a little bread crumbs, hot sauce, and spices. Then, they are baked in the Quahog half shells. Full of clam bits, they are superior to the ones you get at seafood restaurants that are loaded with bread crumbs. She got the recipe from her Portuguese MIL. read more

I was in need of some last-minute items that I forgot for my first Thanksgiving in Rhode Island. I asked local people on Reddit of some places that were open for Thanksgiving since there's a law in Rhode Island that any retail establishment that has more than six employees cannot be open for Thanksgiving. I thought it was an odd lol but I love to shop local businesses. So this was right up my alley on being able to support a local business. I was told of several places that were open with shorter hours for today. Dockside Seafood was my first stop and they had everything I needed.... BUT I didn't feel appreciated by them following me around the very small store like I was going to steal something. So I asked the guy (wearing a white meat market over coat) for a spice that I was looking for while standing right in front of it. He didn't have the answer. So that was some BS. Why are you standing 8ft away acting like you're looking for something when you aren't? I don't know if their local community hurts their business by stealing or not. But if that's the case then they should have cameras. They only have two very short aisles (similar to a gas station). read more

Grabbed a lobster roll and enjoyed it. I specifically looked for a grocery store that I could get a lobster roll. It was only $16.

Purchased very dry, overcooked lobster tails and sea scallops that kept excreting water, wouldn't sear properly and were mushy in texture without the typical sweet flavor. I broke out in histamine reaction after eating- beet red ears and splotchy red rash on chest. I'm not allergic to lobster or scallops, I eat them regularly. Won't be back. read more

This is a mom&pop shop. Prices for a bag of chips or apples are likely going to be higher than Aldi or Market Basket. But their meat and seafood is where it is at. If you need a nice steak to grill, this is where you should go to get it. They routinely have meat prices that are sale prices at chain stores. read more

I just spent $145.00 dollars on a whole ribeye that should have been used for ground beef!! It was all torn apart, but I couldn't tell because of the packaging . The service is friendly and helpful. The people are very pleasant and willing to help. Definitely a great staff. It's a cute little market, with a nice selection for a small place. I bought some lunch meats, they were already expired and inedible. A lot of the produce was bad. Originally went there for fish, which they did have and I did buy. Stopped by in the rain for lobsters during COVID-19 and happy to see masks and shields in the shop. I was there today to pick up some Chicken wings. I asked if I could have mostly flats the Man said not for only six pounds I can't.I didn't say anything at first but he was very rude!!! I said we buy chicken here every other day for our dogs . ( When we do it's always between 6 to 8 pounds) I guess we will buy it else where he was like why because I said we couldn't do mostly flats? I said no because you were an Ass. ( I know that was the wrong word to use but he was) He took the wings he was getting for me through them back in the case and told me to Shop Else where! I said is the owner here? He said yes he is would you like me to go get him? I responded yes then he said oh he's not here he will be back in an hour he just brought his daughter home you can wait here for an hour if you would like. So I was just standing there and a girl asked me if I needed something I said yes chicken wings but then she wouldn't give me chicken wings Unless the tall bald guy that was originally waiting on me said it was ok!! Then another man said what's going on so I was telling him and the Bald guy tried to say he never said it was because I was only getting 6lbs of chicken wings. I also told him I called him an ass then he was saying stuff to me and I said stop talking to me I am not talking to you then he said Oh now your Telling me I can't talk? I said no you can talk to whomever you want to talk to just not to me!! He was so loud that he was making other customers stare at me. This all being said I should have gone back to Sandy Lane Meat Market the wings were a little more but I just didn't want to buy 10 pounds I should have just bought the 10 pounds because they do let you buy mostly flats! I also have never been treated poorly there. It Is Good to know that Dockside Does Not Need Customers!!!! We are local and I try to support local businesses. I also will not go back I will pay more money for the chicken for our dogs. I like the whole boneless rib roast we purchase from them but after how I was treated today by the Big Bald Guy (who I was told is the Manager) I Will be shopping elsewhere. W ent there today 2/11/22 for wings for the weekend. The women that took my order was rude and told me that they could not do just flat wings. We have no teeth and these are easier to eat and she said the they also have bones but we do not have to try to bite on the drumstick. She also said that this was not fair for other customers and I said that most will come in and order whatever while they had many bags ready to go for whoever. I will not go back there again and will find another place to get wings. In the long run the customer always comes first and I did get what we wanted with much aggrevation. read more

My husband seems to like buying seafood here. This past weekend he bought mussels, which came straight home and were refrigerated. When he went to cook them, they were all open at least 1/4". We started tapping on them to see if they would close (which means they're alive and well) - only one did. So into the trash can they went. A whole bag of bad mussels. I have been coming here for 20 years - and they are my "go to" store for fresh lobsters, Ipswich steamers, clams and fish. They get fresh lobster deliveries every morning and the taste difference between fresh and those sitting for days in supermarket tanks is amazing ! Well worth the extra drive and price. The fish staff know their products , can offer cooking suggestions, and are quick and efficient . I love that they opened the small restaurant in the summer! They have wonderful clam cakes and chowder , fish and chips, whole bellied clams etc. I'm not sure if they go back to Friday's only serving fried food in the winter inside the store near the deli section. I have bought meat depending on weekly flyer sales but it's not Prime or Choice . I have bought fresh chicken as well at great prices. I have not gone to the deli counter, but it's always packed and I see the prices are a good value. Produce looks tired but can scoop up a bag of onions for 1/2 the price of large supermarkets . They also offer 1 lb Cabot butter often for $2.99. A great deal with lobster ! It is challenging since they close at 6 pm and they do sell out of big lobsters quickly, so I gave to plan accordingly. Overall service is good. I agree there are some employees that don't seem to want to be there and that does not translate into good customer service. It seems to come from owners at times. Regardless , I will continue to get my lobsters , fish, wild shrimp, steamers and clans as happily as I have been !!! read more

Their seafood has obviously been washed in consumption bleach. It renders the shrimp and scallops inedible. Their stuffies are ALL "stuff" and no seafood. Their land o lakes cheese is obviously not lol or it would actually melt in a grilled cheese. Just a poor imitation of what you can get fresher, better,and more reliably at other markets. Its a poverty level seafood shop with the ability to offer more, but no inclination. Go to captains catch in apponaug. THEY will provide FRESH seafood with a smile and otherwise excellent service. My wife went to Dockside and bought a package of uncut NY sirloins for father's day. I opened the package on Sunday and tried to cut the steaks, and between the gristle and excessive fat it was a tough piece of meat. I decided to return to the store to try and get a replacement and to express my dissatisfaction. The people in the butcher department were incredible. Not only did they accept my return without question, they replaced it on the spot and cut and trimmed the new package. Ate the steaks yesterday and they were fabulous. My mom went in today with my credit card to buy a loaf of bread, the cashier bagged the bread and my mom gave him the credit card and assumed he charged it, walked out with the bread, I was waiting for her in my car, two seconds after she comes out the cashier kid comes out yelling that she didn't pay for the $2.00 bread, like she was stealing it, first of all, it wasn't her fault he didn't charge her she GAVE him the credit card. Second of all instead of being rude and yell realize that an OLD lady came in and assumed you charged her and walks out doesn't mean that a HISPANIC woman is stealing from you. We WERE very LOYAL customers for over 5 years, well not anymore. Also the chicken they sell in 10 pounds bags is always bad, the last 4 times we have bought chicken here it was HARD and tasted horrible. buy for cheap and sell for cheap no one cares about quality in this store, fruits and vegetables are horrendous also. I am a regular customer and usually I am happy with meats and seafood. However, Dockside really struck out in its prepared food department today. We needed a quick dinner, so I bought Dockside's meatloaf prepared dinner. BIG MISTAKE! The meatloaf was dry, the mashed potatoes were dry and tasteless. The canned vegetables included were meh. Excellent customer service! When my order was rung up I realized I left my debit card at home. The beautiful young lady checking me out was so pleasant and say don't worry. I will keep it here. I scraped up $10 in my purse and my "toll money" I keep in the car. My order was $15+. The young lady said, "oh don't worry I'll take care of the rest." What a sweet thing from someone likely making minimum - or slightly above - wage. Not sure I would have been as generous. Got me to thinking though. Bless this girl and her willingness to help out. Disappointed is an understatement. Bought 4 dozen littlenecks only to get home and find 3 wide open. Tossed them and cooked the rest. At least twelve refused to oped after an extended period of time in the pot. 25 percent loss is unexceptionable in my book. I will not be returning ! read more

The best Portuguese stuffies I've ever had! My mom and I come here whenever we want fresh seafood without having to drive out to the pier in Narragansett. Their lobsters haven't disappointed. I hadn't been to dockside in about 15 years. It used to be one of my favorite places for seafood. We were in the area the other night & stopped in for seafood for valentines dinner. What a mistake!!! The cod smelled like chlorine and was not edible. The shrimp smelled rotten and we had to throw it away. We tried a few bites of stuffed shrimp & stuffed mushrooms which neither tasted right. I ended up having GI issues for 2 days afterwards. I will never return here for seafood again! read more

Went in here for the first time and was very disappointed. After hearing many good things I assumed that everything they sell would be high quality and fresh but the produce section was a disgrace. The "Confreda Farms" zucchini had mold growing on them and were bruised to all hell. The squash were the same way. And it didn't end there. Every pepper and every green bean were bruised and moldy and disgusting. I luckily found two peppers that were mediocre at best and bought them cause I was in need of them and in a rush and figured I didn't have time to stop anywhere else. I then picked up a few blue point oysters. They were a good size and they gave me an extra one but they were $.30 more a piece versus Dave's and there's just no way to forgive the awful produce. I walked through the door, and noticed the place has an odor. Like a bait shop. Funky! The produce was so-so. Another market where you'd have to pick through the apples to find a good one! No good eating apples either. Just pie apples. Price Rite is the same way, but half the price. Dry goods and refrigerated things are run of the mill. Deli was all low quality. Was not impressed. Would not order anything there. Got to the meat shelf, which has everything in an 8 foot space. Packaged cuts were similar to other big markets. Whole loins were a little less. Not a big difference between their regular prices and those at the other markets. Rib eyes were still $9 a pound and small. They advertise as USDA "lean and tender." There's no such thing. USDA grades are Prime, Choice, Select, and numbers 1 through..... 99% of what you see in the market is choice or select. The seafood counter was very nice and clean. Fish was fresh and reasonably priced. Maybe their saving grace. Stuffed cod fish was good. I would buy it again. Lobster rolls were also good. Lots of little rubbery claw tips but still good. Lobster Mac and cheese had leg meat. Little strings. Disappointed. Clam chowder was good. Thin but perfectly acceptable. Would go again for the seafood if sales flyer enticed me, but I'd leave the rest of their stuff alone. There was one cashier on and I waited longer than I'd liked to. They have two registers, and I could imagine it being slow. I thought the place, with all it's advertising would be bigger, and better. read more
