Food: Delicious! I would recommend earthier The California with Grilled Chicken or The Fish Sandwich. Service: Definitely good. If you need something, the waiters are quick to answer and the food comes out moderately fast. Ambiance: Cabin-ish vibes, kind of almost old- fashioned decor, some hunting trophies on the walls and in display cases. There are a few video games in a corner, too, for those of you that like that sort of thing. In general: Pretty good service, almost cabin like decoration, and tasty food. Came to Spooner for a hockey tournament with my kid. I prefer to eat at a local establishment rather than a chain. Passed Tony's on the way to the hotel. I asked the receptionist at the B.W. after checking in if the food was good and she gave it her approval. Tony's is a Bar and grill, it's not fancy by any means. Our server was prompt patient and helpful. My daughter got a grilled cheese and I went with the Rodeo burger. Also got the mozzarella sticks. Burger was solid ( 8.5 of 10), Grilled Cheese (8 of 10). Hand cut fries were good but the waffle fries were definitely better! Mozzarella sticks were average, the red sauce that came with them was bland and boring. i do not support this restaurant, i have tried 4 different things from here, including the pizza. Every item i have got is beyond greasy & covered in oregano. I do NOT recommend the food. on top of that the renter is very negative towards his fellow local restaurant business owners (not including the ones his daddy owns) i have heard of him doing physically hurtful things towards local businesses & on top of that vocal negative reviews based on personal & unfair opinions, the renter here is too young & immature to be operating a business like this in my opinion. read more

Ever since the new owner took over the pizza now tastes like spaghettiOs out of a can , it's extremely to sweet the sauce and it's so sweet you cannot even tastes the cheese and crust! This is a sad review to write. My family used to love Tony's. Have been going for 30 years. Best pizza in all the land. It was a place to be proud of in our little town with otherwise limited restaurant offerings and even fewer "good food" options. We knew we could always depend on Tony's. Until about 2 years ago. Something happened. Something bad. The pizza became inedible. First it was being served undercooked Then we noticed a different sauce. Yucky sauce. Less cheese. So we stopped going. Started going to Denelies. Wasn't as good as Tony's used to be, but a lot better than what Tonys was offering , so our longtime loyalty switched to a new team. We waited 2 years. Then, based on talking to neighbors who felt the same as we did, we figured Tony's had to have heard what people were saying the last few years and made improvements to go back to basics. Had they caught wind of the negative things people were saying? So 2 years later, we decided to back to Tony's. Walking into with fingers crossed.... We ordered a sausage and it wasn't quite what it used to be, but it was improved. Close to vintage Tony's! Almost great except an off-putting new green topping that was sprinkled all over the top. We all agreed that topping was not good. But we appreciated the pizza seemed to be close to what it used to be. So we went again last weekend. Service was great as it always has been. Loved having the fresh cut fries again. And the chefs salad was great. But the pizza...... Almost inedible. Undercooked, sauce was sweet and awful. Forgot to say "no topping" when I ordered, so that displeasing green stuff was back. We rarely had leftovers in the old days. This time we took half the pizza home. Nobody fought over leftovers like they used to. Nobody wanted it. I guess what happens to all legends eventually, happened to Tony's. They tried to fix what wasn't broken and they messed everything up. Farewell Tony's. We used to adore you. Our family gathering place. We are sad to have lost a Legend. Best broasted chicken & potatoes we have found since purchasing our cabin close to 10 years ago. The chicken is outstanding but the broasted potatoes are the best I have had anywhere!! Perfect light crust on the outside and flaky and delicious on the inside. I just smash them up with a little butter and sour cream. yum. The service is excellent. I admit, and my husband will verify that if the service is bad, my experience is ruined, period. It does not matter what I ask for, whether a specification in food or a certain kind of cocktail, they have never disappointed. And, we have already met some great people that we have seen there a few times. Old school atmosphere, very clean, homemade lunch specials like my Italian mother used to make our family every day and a very nice owner! My friends and I have been coming up to spooner from Chicago for 27 years. We have always liked the atmosphere at the bar here but the Pizza had always been pretty bad. For years it was smothered with tons of cheese and was soggy at the bottom. Saturday night we popped in for a drink and decided to order some pizzas. I don't know what the hell happened but it may have been the best thin crust I have ever had. It was crunchy on the edges and on the bottom. Had the perfect amount of cheese and was awesome. Sometimes, not much changes at places like Tony's but was psyched someone re-formulated the pizzas because they have made their way back on our rotation. One of the things I like about the restaurants in Spooner is that there are hardly any chains. Most of what they've got here are small, locally owned joints. One of the things I don't like about the restaurants in Spooner is that a lot of them serve cheap food. And when I say cheap, I'm not talking about what it costs. With very few exceptions, most of the restaurants I've been to here have been somewhere between mediocre and less-than-mediocre and they use cheap shortcuts. The food at Tony's is mediocre, in my opinion. I've been there a few times and have been happy with the bar food appetizers and drinks. The pizza was a little weird but anyone who's lived in Chicago tends to leave with a bit of a Pizza Snob Complex and I'm no different. I also want to add that my 3-year-old nephew informed me that the pizza at Tony's was "wiggly." What does that mean??? I'm not sure but he might be on to something... As for the entrees--they've just been okay. The SIZE of what they bring to the table is beyond ridiculous. There's no way I could ever eat everything they put in front of me. The fare here also tends to side heavily on the fried, bar food variety so unless the place is using fresh ingredients, I'm decidedly disinterested by whatever it is they're selling. And unfortunately, it's been my experience that Tony's cuts corners. As for the good things about this spot, it is always PACKED, so when I'm here with my Spooner relatives, we always get to see and talk to a lot of local people. The tables in the back room are also huge so you can pack a ton of folks around each table. I probably wouldn't ever want to live in a small town myself, but I love visiting them and talking to the people who do. And Tony's is perfect for that. read more

I hardly ever comment or review restaurants but I certainly had to say something about this one. One of our favorite restaurants in Spooner was closed due to the rodeo parade so we ended up at this place. I should have known by the dank cooking oil smell in the air that our food wasn't going to be any good. My wife had a turkey sandwich and I had a fish sandwich. All I could taste was grease on an overcooked piece of frozen fish. My wife said her sandwich was not terrible but later in the afternoon she started getting stomach cramps and spend a lot of time in the bathroom if you get my drift. The server was pleasant and helpful. However, a gentlemen came from the back of the establishment dressed in old dirty gym shorts and a tshirt that had the arms ripped off with a gap all the way down to his waist. It turned out this was the cook. I would rate this as one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. 5 hours later I'm still tasting grease. read more

In a town without many choices, Tony's still pulls off a respectable 4 stars. It's a bar/restaraunt with solid fare. Daily soup and meal specials. The food is not fancy but is good nonetheless. The portion sizes are more than adequate. For those not drinking alcohol, the sodas are by the can. No fountain drinks. We eat there quite a bit for lunch and the food is usually delivered a lot more quickly than in a chain restaraunt. read more

I ate at Tony's once years ago with my grandparents from.Texas and I only remembered how terrible the pizza was. Recently I went out on a Friday with 2 friends and decided to give it another try. There was no baked fish left for fish fry which was slightly disappointing. My friend ordered a margarita that was just terrible tasting. It was actually the worst margarita I had ever tasted myself and was garnished with a brown lime in it. The waitress said you ordered it so you have to pay for it. Then we waited nearly an hour for our food when it wasn't even that busy. The waitress brought us our food with the silverware laying on top of the food. Thick juicy burgers on ciabatta bread with really good fries and long neck beers were perfect. The atmosphere was classic Wisconsin tavern. Relaxed and comfortable with friendly waitresses. My family and I ate here while on vacation. We came for dinner and most of us ordered sandwiches or the fried chicken. The food was decent for a quick bite, and a good value to feed a large group. Most people around us were ordering the pizza and that appears to be their specialty. The service wasn't as good as the food unfortunately. Our waitress was a young girl. Unfortunately she was either in a bad mood or just inexperienced and this resulted in not so great service. I ordered a Spotted Cow with a glass and she brought me a glass of ice. I am not sure if that's a thing in Wisconsin to drink your beer with ice, but I've never been served that way in any other state or anywhere else in Wisconsin. My husband also received a glass of ice with his beer. I'm betting she is just too young to know. She never smiled at us once and seemed perturbed she had to serve us. By the end of the meal we decided just to not ask for anything else because she would leave our table while we were in mid-sentence still talking to her. We are transplants from the Chicago area and pizza really has to be exceptional to get rave reviews from us. I can't believe this place is busy. We ordered several things, nothing was good. Pizza - the crust was like hard cardboard. Breaded fish - this was just okay, probably the best thing we tried, and portion was not very big. Fries - hand cut - greasy, overdone and flavorless. Hash browns - greasy, flavorless. Broasted chicken - I don't think broasted means what they think it means - it was greasy on the outside, dry on the inside, and once again flavorless, even the breading seemed like it had no seasoning in it - sure seemed fried to us. Ok, the cole slaw was okay but even that was a little too much horseradish. When my husband opened the butter packet to butter his roll, it was all melted and spilled out all over. We left feeling very ripped off, did not finish most of our food. A last note, as my husband was waiting for me to use the restroom, a waitress walked by him bringing a pizza to the table, and she had the plates for the pizza actually stacked right on top of the pizza itself.
