    Yellow fin tuna tasted amazing.

Very tasty food. Enjoyed the Brie flatbread for an appetizer, which was good. Had yellow fin tuna, which was very good, but the risotto was cold. We had the molten chocolate cake-wouldn't get it again as it was dry. We sat inside because it was cold. Very cute atmosphere. It is loud if you sit indoors.

Wow! My husband and I have been coming to the Hayward area for over 25 years and this was a first time visit for us. Smallish menu, lots of items purchased locally - they advertise fresh ingredients. (Angry Minnow micro brews), my husband is a fan. The evenings special was lemon risotto with Asparagus and grilled shrimp,(my order). My husband ordered the steak sandwich, grilled and sliced with provolone cheese, charred red onions and garlic horseradish sauce. He shared a bite of his steak, and I'm pretty sure it was prepared in the Garlic Olive Oil from the local Hayward Mercantile; never a bad choice. It was done to his order and tender and juicy. The special started with a mixed greens salad dressed with some 18 year old balsamic which I shared with my husband. My risotto was a perfect blend of creamy and tart, the asparagus had just a little crunch and my shrimp were seasoned just right. Our server was Amy, she was helpful, personable and at our table just the right number of visits. We sat on the deck on a beautiful June evening and enjoyed our food with a beverage. We were delighted with it all and are determined to come back.

I look for a couple things when I go out to eat. First, I want to eat food that I can't make at home even if I wanted to. Corey's creativity allows me to experience food I have never tried before. I not only appreciate it, I'm grateful for it!! Second, I want to dine in a unique environment. The background of the LumberJack World Championships does not get any more unique. Details make this a true dining experience. Fresh flowers on the table, a bar made out of recycled logs used in past lumberjack championships, and perfect lighting gives River Deck a captivating ambiance. You could make cheese curds anywhere. You cannot experience Chef Corey's skills unless you are in Hayward. Treat yourself and dine at the River Deck. You will thank me later :)

We stopped at the River Deck Restaurant on our way to Bayfield, WI. The restaurant is on a river, but don't expect any awe-inspiring views of nature as the Lumberjack World Championship area is right across the very slow-moving river from the restaurant. The ambience was nice outside (we were there near the end of June on a warm night), and our waitress was efficient and polite. We ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna Nachos for an appetizer, which was a good choice. The tuna was seared well and the greens and sauce made the dish very tasty. I had the walleye sandwich for my main course. While the walleye itself seemed to be good quality, the preparation (pan-frying) left more oil in the fish than I'm used to and the texture seemed almost soggy rather than crispy. Bottom-line, if you're in Hayward in the summer, and you're looking for something a little more upscale, this restaurant could be your best bet. You'll pay a premium for the diverse menu options and the view, and the quality might not wow the sophisticated foodie, but this is WI chic when it comes to outdoor dining in the Northwoods.

Great view on the deck over the lake. Great ingredients in all their food - plain and simple and fresh. BUT the prices are a bit high for what you get. Smaller sandwiches and portions. I ordered the BLTG (BLT with goat cheese), and while delicious, it was quite a small portion. Not necessarily a bad thing of course, but for $11 it does seem a bit steep. I'll definitely return because of the quality of food (and lack of fried things!), But wish it was a bit lower in price (or larger in portions!). With that fix, this would be a no brainier for 5 stars.

Wow. The scallops were outstanding. The smoked salmon dip is a must also. It was like a soft mousse. Yum.

Exceptional food. Great atmosphere. The Scallops were amazing. The Salmon salad I think had more salmon than the original fish probably did.

Outstanding food and service! Walleye was especially good; and nice wine selection -all reasonably priced.

On our first morning in Hayward during our annual family holiday trip to the area, we went to…read moreRiverstreet for its brunch. My husband's aunt and uncle remarked how good the brunch buffet is, and it did not disappoint. The best part: There was a great selection of food that we along with my kids enjoyed (not an easy feat with these picky eaters!). Among the selection: pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, watermelon slices, fruit salad, granola, cream puffs, coffee cake, fried shrimp, fried chicken, an omelette station and more. The french toast and fried chicken were particularly good. The service was fast, and we were able to get a table for eight after waiting just a few minutes. It's a relief to find someplace where we can all eat. I bet this will be in the Hayward rotation of spots we regularly go to.

No thank you. The waitress talks to her customers with this high squeaky voice. It's almost…read moresurreal, and definitely very annoying. And then we got a pizza for my friend who is on a fixed income, but my friend didn't like the taste of the pizza after she got home with it. So she called the restaurant the next day, and that same person answered the phone, offering to give my friend a gift certificate as a compensation. My friend didn't pay out of her pocket with a gift certificate. Her compensation should be refunding her cash. Now she has to go back there and hope that she can pick something that doesn't taste as bad as the pizza did..? AND probably have to listen to that insanely annoying voice. It's unnatural! I'll never go back there again.
