This is our favorite place to get meatball subs! They have the best meatball subs in all the land. The fresh baked bread is amazing, the meatballs and sauce are delicious, and the addition of Mayo and mustard is what puts it over the top. When I was in high school in the early 80's we used to come here on Friday nights to watch the fights break out on the corner in front of Tony's after the football games, looks like all the blood has finally been washed off the sidewalks! The good news is this place finally got the remodel it's needed since the early 70's, I think the last time I came here was a double date right after I got married in 88 with some Friends from salt lake who had never been to Ogden. I was in Ogden today to meet up with a customer for lunch and have been dying to see if it was still the same good pizza so I flat out told him we were meeting here and I'm glad I did! They make the pizza with a super thin crust, good quality salted mozzarella cheese and canned mushrooms, which is the way I thought pizza was supposed to be made when I was a kid, a little more salty than fresh mushrooms. AWFUL food. PATHETIC service. Two waiters whizzed by when we entered. One asked where we wanted to sit and then disappeared before we even answered. The other came back a few minutes later and said to seat ourselves so we did. Never had a waiter come to our table but other tables nearby seemed to get service. One waiter was counting their cash tips on the front counter of the restaurant. Right?! It's peak dinner service and they're counting out their money in front of EVERYONE and ignoring tables. Niiiiice. Eventually got up and decided to place a to-go order. This apparently interrupted the counting and the waiter was annoyed. Should have walked out then. Instead ordered a Hawaiian pizza and salad. Sat down in the one of the most rundown waiting areas I have ever seen-- peeling wallpaper on multiple walls, literal dirt in the seat cushions which are super OLD patio cushions, and poorly done repairs with raw 2x4s. After waiting they bring out the food and tell us they ran out of ham and only put pineapple on the pizza. Wtf?! Instead of asking at ANY time before or any of the other infinite ways to handle this situation, the employee hands me THIRTY FIVE CENTS and tells me that's the cost difference for the missing topping. Wtf?! Does ANYONE want a pineapple-only pizza?! Pineapple barely covered the center of the pizza and cheese was just as sparse. Salad was drenched in vinegarette and topped with about a cup of gross, cheap Parmesan to disguise that the lettuce was soggy and limp. Took two regrettable bites and threw it all out. read more

Meh, I've experienced better is a perfect quote for this restaurant. The pizza, while raved about by locals and old timers who've been dinning at Tony's since they were kids, is acceptable. But it's not a place you'd put down as a destination you 'must' try. This crust was burnt on one side. Topping were plentiful and tasty. That being said, the crust as a whole is no better than a frozen pizza. Soft and rubbery, and lacking that crunch/chewy texture you expect from the really good pizza places. It's inexpensive. It's old. And the bathrooms are disgusting and smell like urine. Don't bother. There's better dining options nearby. read more

Easily our favorite pizza in Ogden. Great hot and cold the next day. (My husband claims that it's even better when reheated in the oven as leftovers.) Service is generally very good. We also really like the garlic bread; wish they had a garlic cheese option as well. They have the cheese--why not? I only have it 4 Stars because their salads are appalling. Not awful just like no effort at all. It's just iceberg lettuce and a "house dressing" that is heavy on the vinegar. I think it's Apple cider vinegar. That is just the way it comes, with no other dressing options, no other toppings--just lettuce. Tony's pizza has been a staple of south Ogden for as long as I can remember. Their pizza is always delicious and the sandwiches are also great. My food of choice is the meet ball sub. You have to tell them to go light on the mustard or they'll drown your sub in it, but it's great. I understand restaurants can get busy, so we ordered ahead knowing it would probably be a while. After we phoned the order in we were told our order would be ready in 30min. We got there 30 minutes later to find a line outside the building, the chaos you find the second you open the door is crazy, you have a line of people waiting to pay, another line waiting to be seated and another line for pick up orders. So we talk to guests to figure out where to stand because there's no signs, no helpful employees, people are just walking in skipping the line to get their food, and everyone waiting patiently was getting irritated, so we finally get to the regester and told the woman they should put up signs or have someone at the door just to help out the confused guests and we were turned into the bad guy! She told us they were "obviously busy" as she pointed around the store and she would appreciate our cooperation and understanding in a very rude manner. I'm sorry but you all told us our order would be ready to pick up in 30 minutes! If that's not the case then don't tell people that! But sadly this nightmare experience dont end here! After being scolded we then asked to wait for our order after already waiting an hour, 5 minutes later they bring out half our order and are told to wait again for the other half, so as our pizza and sandwiches are getting cold they come out with the other half of the order 15 min later! So we get home, pizzas are cold, sandwiches are cold, everything is a mess because they were rushed, sandwich was pretty much a loaf of bread with a few pieces of pastrami and the sauce was awful. Such an absolute disappointment! The whole experience was enough to never return, never recommend and will talk anyone out of going there and experiencing what we went through! It USED to be a good place, but now, it isn't even mediocre. This used to be a family favorite, but after whet we got today, we'll stay at home and have a better quality meal. We ordered spaghetti with extra meatballs, and garlic bread. The garlic bread that came with one of the meals, was buttered with shortening and had no garlic, only a few bits of parsley on it. My garlic bread didn't even have that, just a burnt loaf brought AFTER the meal. It was the most tasteless bread I have EVER eaten. The spaghetti with extra meatballs was a disgrace. Watered down tomato sauce that had no flavor and TWO, yes TWO small meatballs. (We paid $1.50 for that ONE extra SMALL meatball. They only had a house vinaigrette for salad dressing. The dressing was what the whole bowl was covered in. We asked for water, and got two glasses with warm water and TWO ice cubes each that were melted within 2 minutes. The water tasted terrible. The service was below par. Needless to say, no tip. We will not travel from Salt Lake for this again. read more

This is probably my absolute favorite pizza around. Unfortunately, the service is beyond terrible. I took my daughter for dinner the other night. As we walking in, we noticed a sign that said "Please wait to be seated". We noticed six employees standing around, clustered at the entrance to the kitchen, directly behind the cashier/hostess stand. The hostess seemed stressed, distracted, and involved in a conversation with someone in the kitchen about their sister. We stood there, ignored for 15 minutes as she helped customers paying and leaving, picking up to-go orders, and arranging things behind the counter, before she acknowledged us and told us that we could just sit anywhere. Our waiter came by and without saying a word, set menus on our table and walked off before coming back for minutes later to quickly take our drink orders. He brought our drinks, without a spoon for my coffee, and only three creamers when I asked for "lots of cream & sugar". We ordered the spaghetti meal, which states on the menu as including meal, salad, bread, and icecream. We also ordered a pizza, and I requested that they serve two pieces and prepare the rest to take home, as there was not enough room in the table for a full pizza and to eat comfortably. I asked to add garlic bread, a side salad, and icecream. At this point, the server tells us that they are out of icecream, so I ask him what they are replacing it with and he responds with "Nothing. It's a freebie anyway." It took forever to get our order taken, our drinks, our salad, our food, everything. When he finally brought our food out, he brought our the spaghetti first and then took more than ten minutes before bringing out the pizza. When he finally brought the pizza, he brought the whole pizza on the tray and set it in the table, instead of preparing it to go, as I had asked. We had to ask one of the other servers for butter for our bread, and I had to grab a parmesan cheese shaker from another table, after having asked the waiter for one. After dropping off our food, he never returned to our table to check on us, never refilled out drinks, and never cleaned up or removed plates as we ate. I have never not left a trip until this experience. This was literally THE WORST SERVICE I have ever received, anywhwre, ever. The food however, was very good. The salad was a little "old" and the spaghetti was nothing special, but the meatballs were great, the bread was excellent, and the pizza was stellar! read more

This is an Ogden icon - all the locals eat here. The price is great, and the food plentiful. Service, however, is very mediocre - the server was rushed (although she seemed to have plenty of time to talk with the people she obviously knew at the next table), she plunked down my little bowl of ice cream that comes with the spaghetti before I was even halfway through my meal, and when we asked for a bag to take home the leftover bread we were given a plastic grocery bag. So I'd give the price a 5, the service a 1, the spaghetti a 2, and the pizza a 4. Overall - three stars. read more

This was really tasty. The service was atrocious but when I inquired the lady said that they were short two staff members so I can understand when things happen that you have no control over. In the very least our server could have dropped by and at least acknowledged us but all in all we had the ravioli and my hubby had the meatball sub. This is definitely a neighborhood place, as you will never see it while driving around. It's on a street that leads directly into residential and if you do somehow drive by the building, unless you happen to look at just the right time to see the red neon sign that reads "Tony's" and nothing else, you'll miss that, too. On the highly trafficked (comparatively) Washington Blvd., there exists no sign, but the place has been there for half a century...when you talk about locals only, this is pretty much the epitome. Even when I went out looking for it, I nearly drove by it and unless you know what you're looking for, you might keep on going, as Tony's could mean anything from a bar to a haircut place. There is no clue at all on that tan brick facing 39th Street... So, if you do happen to make it in there, you wind up with a pretty standard pizza, in a pretty reasonable amount of time and a very basic and somewhat miniscule menu. It sort of reminded me of a "Pie-lite", except that's elevating it to lofty standards it doesn't quite deserve. It's very solid pizza, hits the spot, but is not really going to ever wow you with greatness. It's probably slight above the middle tier, but not quite to the next tier of pizza places in Ogden and nowhere near the top. They do have other stuff on the menu, but no idea how good that might be. Staff is also very friendly. Can't say this is at all on my list of places to return, mostly for location reasons, as I'm just not in the area enough. If I was and dying for pizza, I might hit this again, but overall, nothing too remarkable here. read more

This place is apparently a Utah staple. They may want to rethink that. My wife and I are visiting from out of town and this was suggested by a co worker. The food was average at best. After several minutes (like 10) we were finally waited on. Our waiter acted as though we were an inconvenience more than paying customers. I ordered a small pepperoni and mushroom pizza. This is the worst possible dining experience I've ever had. The manager, Nicole, was extremely rude and clearly inexperienced at handling feedback treating customers with disrespect. The owners should literally reconsider getting new management. They ran out of bread, didn't have any dessert with dinner and wanted to charge full price saying it wasn't there fault they were busy. I grew up in South Ogden 30+ years ago but never did frequent Tony's pizza for some reason, in fact I had only been there once prior to this latest visit. So, I thought it time to give them another try. We ordered up pizza and garlic bread. The server was extremely friendly and effiecient, she took our order promptly, and our drinks never went dry. The bread was delivered quickly soon followed by the pizza. The bread was ok, a small loaf of bread split down the middle slathered in garlic butter and wrapped in foil and baked. I would prefer the butter side go under a broiler and the bread get browned more but it tasted good enough. The pizza was a reasonable size, we did half and half and all the ingredients (sausage, ham, mushroom & pinneapple) were good, nothing extraordinary, the least favorite was the mushrooms, they appeared canned. The pizza had a lot of cheese, a decent sauce and good crust. I certainly wouldn't rate this the best pizza in the area but it is a very good value considering what you get for the very reasonable price. That combined with the friendly service means I will probably go back soon. Maybe next time I will try one of their pastas or the meatball sandwich, someone else got the sandwich while we were there and it looked massive and inexpensive. read more

I was excited to go eat at Tony's because I hadn't been in a long time and I know their food is yummy. I was disappointed though, my boyfriend and I were told to sit wherever we wanted when we walked in so we did. The place was average busy but definitely not overly busy and manageable. We sat at our table for just shy of 10 mins without one waitress coming to the table to even take our drink order. Saw a couple waitresses come out. One clean a table and one brought something to another... they both saw we were there. Then another waitress was talking to people at a table very close to ours the whole time, acknowledged we were there but just kept talking. We got up and left being annoyed. I was mad we didn't get to eat there, but the service certainly needs to improve. I gave two stars because the food is good. read more

Food was fast but not sure it was all the way cooked on my pizza. The crust was browned perfect but the center was really soggy. The staff is good or bad, depending on who you get. I was asked by a girl what I was in for and when I told her I called in an order she went to look for another guy (odd) I would've figured she would go check. However, the guy was super nice and went to get my pizza. The pizza topping on the combo are great- love the green olives but I hate sausage. This review is for the Meatball Sub alone. The bun is incredible, firm crust but super soft throughout. The meatballs, sauce, cheese, mayo and mustard just work. I LOVE Tony's! Their pizza is good, but if you really want something great then try the Meatball sandwich and their Tortellini! I have yet to find a better meatball sandwich than Tony's, and it is less than 6 dollars for a huge sub!
