First time getting Pie Pizzeria and we actually bough it on PIE DAY! I read reviews online that this is the original pizza joint in Ogden, so we wanted to try it. We got two large pizzas, one Hawaiian pizza and one Margherita. It was plenty of food for 4 people. The crust was good, and I typically prefer my crust thick/doughy. Honestly.. the pizza however was okay. The wait for it was quick and I was impressed by that, but the taste was just alright. Nothing spectacular about the pizza. Pricing is decent, but not sure I'd try it again.

sausage and pepperoni pizza.

Checking out the Ogden area and had a 1.5 hour ride home so a meal before the ride was in the plan. Now this place offers a covered outdoor area with some heating and was very nice, only problem no dogs; disappointed. Ordered a 14 inch sausage and pepperoni pizza and was disappointed as well! The problem: although they make their own fresh dough, it's thicker than the Earths crust, reminds me of Pizza Hut. The sauce had a sweetness to it but tasted like canned and not homemade, needed more Basel, Oregano and Marjoram. Lastly the pizza had more cheese than the Alps have snow! The take out was fast and service friendly although the bathroom was out of hand towels but clean. After the fact I found out they have a thin crust so maybe the experience would have been different.

Pepperoni and black olive pizza

Always a fun vibe, but I just don't think it's actually "Utah's best pizza." The crust was undercooked and doughy, and there was way too much cheese for my liking. This picture is the next day as I was pulling it out of the fridge for leftovers--you can see the cheese is as thick as the crust which is maybe why it didn't get cooked fully.

New to town and tried The Pie for the first time. Restaurant itself is really cool and the patio looked like it would be awesome to try once it gets cooler. Wasn't amazed by the pizza. I love cheese and lots of it but there was so much it almost would choke you. It overpowered every other topping and sauce. With Ogden's plethora of pizza places I'm not sure we will go back here, at least before trying other places first.

I had a medical procedure. I needed good healthy food. I cried when I had this pizza. It's what I needed. The staff was great.

They make everything fresh in the open kitchen that you can see into, and some dishes even get prepared tableside (a family next to us got the queso and she melted it in a hot pan right there. it smelled SO GOOD). The menu has all your classic mexican food plus a decently large vegan section, which was awesome to see! Both my fiance and mom got the chicken flautas and i got the ceviche with the barramundi. It was stellar, so lime-forward with a great crunch from the cucumber. The avocado was a little underripe, but not eating it didnt take away anything from the dish. I got a bite of the flautas (a bit like a chimichanga) and it was crunchy, very full of chicken, and the enchilada sauce over top was delicious. Drinks were STRONG but made very well at their bar. The autumn sangria is a must try if youre in season, with a great cinnamon aroma. Didnt know if id like the inclusion of the brandy but it really amped up the fall-ness (?) of the cider. Sat quickly on a friday night at dinner, but it was... a national weather alert... so take that with a grain of salt. Paid parking right outside but free parking up the street towards the mountains if you can take a quick walk.

We ordered the chips and salsa as an appetizer and they were fantastic with red and green sauce definitely enough for two people. We also ordered the mango habanero marg and the El Jefe Marg also delicious and well prepared. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were very good. I loved that it came with both green and red sauce! My husband got the carne asada plate which was definitely the stand out. The steak was prepared PERFECTLY. So delicious. I will likely get this the next time we come by. Overall a great experience for a busy Friday night!

Drew's family has lived in the area for many, many years and they know all the good places to go, and Slackwater is one of their favorite spots for a fun night out. So when they suggested it, we knew we had to try it! We went with a big group of Drew's family, Sean, Haley and me on a Saturday night, and apparently we picked a particularly busy night because it was also homecoming. There were tons of kids dressed up and out eating, so the place was definitely BUSY. We did have quite a wait to get in, but the front staff was wonderful about keeping everyone updated on the estimated wait time. We waited outside with several other groups, but honestly, it didn't seem that long because we were all visiting, laughing and having a good time. Once we were seated, we had a big table near the front of the restaurant, and our waiter was fantastic. I unfortunately didn't catch his name, but he was ON IT the entire night! We started with appetizers, and the Heavenly Hummus I ordered was absolutely fabulous. Seriously, one of the best hummus dishes I've ever had. We also ordered the Diablo Sticks, which were breadsticks with jalapeños and cheese served with a spicy marinara sauce. They were AMAZING. We also had Nate's buffalo wings at the table, because apparently two orders of Diablo Sticks and hummus weren't enough. Then came the beer! Everyone ordered something different. I had a sour, and three other people got different blueberry sour beers. Every single one was excellent. Sean had an IPA and loved his too. Then came the pizzas, and this was probably my favorite part. Everyone ordered something different, so we had a whole table full of unique pizzas and spent the night trading slices and trying everyone's choices. I ordered the Grape & Gorgeous, which had grapes, bacon, Gorgonzola cheese and herbs with my favorite balsamic glaze drizzle on top!! I honestly had no idea what to expect. It was completely different from anything I've ever had on a pizza, but WOW...I loved it! I would order it again in a heartbeat. Sean got the Gyro Trip, Drew got the Cuban Pizza Crisis , and there were several more pizzas at the table whose names I can't remember. Every single one was unique and delicious in its own way. At one point, an ambulance even showed up for someone at another table. Thankfully, the person ended up being okay and didn't have to leave in the ambulance, but it definitely added a little unexpected excitement to our evening. Overall, we had such a great time. The atmosphere was fun, busy and full of energy, the food was excellent, the drinks were great, and the service was fantastic. Most importantly, we were able to sit around a big table, visit, laugh and enjoy a really fun night together. We will absolutely be back the next time we're visiting Haley and Drew in the area. Slackwater definitely lived up to the recommendation, and I can see why it's one of Drew's family's favorite places!

The Chef's Tasting consists of several preset amuse-bouches, with your choice of main and dessert. The thing that Hearth seems to be known for is their unique combinations of ingredients, tastes and textures, all leveraging their signature olive oils (which are available for purchase). It was fun trying all of the combos, most of which were delicious! I did get the short rib for my entree and unfortunately it was dry. The roasted vegetables were aplenty and tasty so I was glad to have had a substantial meal despite not eating much of the short rib. I mentioned it to the server and she shared that they had switched vendors recently and that it was different than their typical short rib. Hoping they switch back! The meal ended with dessert, and the honey/almond/white chocolate/blueberry sorbet I selected was decadent and yummy. All in all, I enjoyed my experience. The service was fantastic and we were treated to complimentary baked goodies to take home. My friend shared that their tasting menu changes seasonally and that all of the various dishes have been unique and delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Ogden!
