This guy seemed fine in the beginning. He came out to replace my key which he did. It has three components it should operate. The door locks, start the car and open the trunk. This new key did everything except open the trunk. Initially, I said ok let's see if I can work with this. Tony assured me he would guarantee his services and repair anything if I was not satisfied. I called him back and let him know I really needed that remote to open the trunk too. He said no problem he would order a new key and try to remedy the situation. I waited the first day after our conversation and he did not contact me, so I called him the next day. He said he would have the key the following day which was a Saturday. I called Saturday he had not received the new key so we set it for Monday. Monday nothing happened. So I call again Tuesday he said he would be out. He never shows so I called and at this point, he says he is just going to take back the key, give me my money back and give me back my old FOB. So once again I was going to be keyless. He said I could go to the dealer. Now I was very patient and kind with this man. This man expected me to accept mediocre, he did not care that I would be left without a key and he told me I could just go to the dealer if I didn't want to accept this key that did not open the trunk. It was obvious he did not wish to take the time to program another key and troubleshoot to make certain it would open the trunk. He treated me awful. He would not even try another key. When he arrived I asked why he could not or would not at least try to remedy the situation? He said he would have to run a diagnostic and that he did not wish to touch my car or be responsible. Now what that had to do with the key I don't know. He said that he would be losing money. He asked for his old receipt back, gave me my old key and my money back. I told him this was not good business. To not even try? He drives around in a brand new Mercedes Van and he obviously has big money and more important jobs than my little key. He was arrogant and so unprofessional. He obviously has made it big for himself and has forgotten where he has come from and how he got there. Me being a woman alone disabled and looking for someone to help me and him with a POMPOUS attitude, he just DID NOT CARE! Plus I am a Black Woman. I guarantee you he would not have done this to his own. Not ever. I even told him that this was not cool and he would not want someone to do his wife or daughter this way. So I am without a key and back on the search for someone who can come out and make me a key that is not at dealer prices. I would not ever recommend this man. He obviously does not need our little money because he quickly threw back my $200 cash so he would not have to remedy the problem as he had promised he would do, as he drove off in his brand new Mercedes Van leaving me stranded and keyless. He also did not keep his word. Not at all! I think we need to take back our neighborhoods and communities and open up more Black businesses that cover all sectors. I am not prejudiced but I do believe I was definitely discriminated against today because there was no reason for this. So I will be an advocate to push, promote and support black businesses in our communities. I try to be fair but I straight out witnessed some serious nonsense today! May he thrive and do well and may God bless him and his, but this man is not right. NOT RIGHT AT ALL!! read more

Had a great experience with Tony's Lock and Key. Every time I called they pick up! * Affordable options! * Friendly and honest staff! * Option to come to them instead of housecall! * It was quick! * That all adds up to 5 stars!!!! :) Anyway, i just needed a couple deadbolts rekeyed to my house keys, and I didn't want to pay for a housecall; and home depot apparently doesn't do it anymore (I called 10 of them)... The whole thing was easy and i was able to drive over and get my deadbolt rekeyed just later that afternoon when I was available. He (his brother is the one who helped me) checked one, and discovered it was already keyed to one of my keys (oops! thanks for figuring that out when i didn't!!) and the other one he was able to rekey in about 5-10 mins. Called Pep boys and they recommended Tony's. This was at noon. I got john. Explained him my situation, key won't turn. He diagnosed it over the phone, told me what was needed (new tumblers and 2 new factory cut keys) His $75 quoted price was less than an installation by a random craigslister. At 3, he called me and said he's en route. He was able to wiggle the key and make it turn...took him 10 seconds. Me? 45minutes! During a brief conversation he walked back to his van WITH THE IGNITION ALREADY OUT! His van has no air circulation... sweat dripping off his nose! Dumped the old tumblers and showed me the wear. He replaced all the tumblers, and then spun around & cut me two new factory spec keys. I could see the wear on the old key in comparison. Within 25 minutes, he was done. Two new keys that turn the ignition with ease. $75 as stated...via a nifty app that scans the card not SQUARE SLIDE. A phone, GPS and register in one! Even the AAA call I made a day earlier said they'd only cover me to $100, making it sound like its going to cost me more. Too bad John isn't a TRIPPLE A emergency service. Could have been done days ago in short time for under AAA's budget! Now I need a mechanic as good and "thrifty" as John//Tony's. O:-) read more

We based our decision to call Tony to make a copy of our key based on price and the fact that he can drive to us. My husband called Tony for a quote and we were quite happy with it that we decided to use his service. The representative that he spoke with told him to call back a little later in the day to see if Tony would be available. Around 4:30 pm that day, my husband called Tony again and the representative said that he will be able to meet with my husband "in 30 minutes" which would make it 5 pm. It was about 45 minutes past 5 and there were no calls on Tony's update. I told my husband to call again and the representative said Tony would arrive in 2 minutes. He arrived about 5 minutes later, which by now is 5:50ish, got to work, and finished within 5 minutes. As my husband was about to pay, Tony asked for an ID. Granted it was my credit card, I had to be there. I was currently at my mother-in-laws house which was less than 10 minutes away so I rushed out to meet with them to show my ID. As my husband and Tony were waiting for me to arrive, my husband said that Tony was being very rude. He kept saying he "had to go", he "had another appointment", and he "can't be late". He even suggested my husband meet him at another location to pick up our already made key *eye roll emoji* And I'm over here thinking... we were waiting MORE THAN AN HOUR for this guy and he thinks we didn't have anything better to do than to sit around and wait for him?! Finally I arrived, paid and he left. If you're willing to test your patience with Tony's tardiness and attitude, I recommend using his service for the efficiency and price. I was referred to Tony's by my mechanic. I'm extremely disappointed. Called on a Wednesday: Tony (or whomever spoke with me) was polite, gave me a good quote for copying and reprogramming my car keys, and told me he'd have someone help me Thursday after 3pm. Thursday at 5pm: No one showed up or called me. I called and Tony apologized and said he'd have the technician call me. The technician didn't call me until hours later and told me he got caught up with a job. Friday at 12pm: I call-back the technician who apologizes and says he can come fix my keys after his appointment in L.A. It's Now Monday and I I haven't heard from the technician and my keys aren't fixed. Bad customer service, bad communication, poor results. Wouldn't recommend. read more

VW Jetta Ignition Key Problem I got into my 2009 Jetta, inserted the key and it wouldn't turn. I got some penetrating oil, squirt it in the key socket and it still wouldn't turn. I was 10 miles away from home and had to get this car started and couldn't. My insurance company said that I had to take it to a dealer and that no one else could do it. The estimated prices including towing was $1100. Instead, I called a local mechanic and he told me to call Tony's Lock & Key. Wow what service. Brother John immediately told me that it was a common problem with VWs and he could change it in about 30 minutes. He came and with a handful of tools, fixed the ignition on my Jetta in less than an hour. The price was great and the man is genuinely friendly. Tony's was the lowest price out of them all and two of them who were too far away for me referred me to Tony's. These guys are very busy because they're friendly, very good at what they do and for a fair price. Tony installed a faulty lock on my door. It won't turn all the way to lock unless I force the lock and jiggle the handle. I made my appointment to get it fixed, was five minutes late, and he refused to wait. Five minutes when he has given me 30 minutes notice to leave work and come meet him. Now I've left work early, still can't lock my doors, and he is refusing to pick up his phone and reschedule. Convenient for Tony, I'll have to pay a new company more to redo the lock rather than have Tony repair his work. read more
