My experience from 2011 was not a one-off: I've been back with multiple vehicles and each time, they had an opportunity to perform extra unnecessary work (or claim nonexistent problems) and they did not. I stopped by today to ask a question about a loose hose on my 2012 Subaru outback. Of course the folks there were prompt and thorough. In fact, he checked it out, connected the hose and secured it with a few extra pins. At no charge!! This is the kind of service I wish I would get everywhere I go. Top-notch. I'm a big fan of Tony's, I have taken my car here for the 7 years I've been at UConn. The staff is genuinely kind and caring. They have been honest with me about what repairs I have needed to do on my car, and have even dissuaded me from paying them for services that I read about online that they believed were unnecessary (thank you!). What's more, they're supportive when I want to DIY; they give me tips and tricks about how to better take care of my car on my own. We have been in the area now for 3 years and have been frequenting Tony's for all of our auto needs. From camper tires, tune ups on our vehicles to most recently tires for my GMC truck....you CANNOT go wrong with these guys! Tony's Garage is my go-to place for any maintenance and upkeep with my car. I've gone in for oil changes, quick issues, and even ordered tires from them. Larry was super helpful throughout the entire process of ordering my tires. He gave some great recommendations and helped me decide on the perfect tire for me. They also did the installation for free since I ordered the tires directly from them. The total time from ordering the tires to picking my car up after installation was less than a week. I was in town for 3 days and noticed my exhaust was hanging low on the drivers side. It was a hanger that had broken off. I took it early on a Friday morning. It was brought in immediately and fixed. Fantastic customer service and quality work. read more

As a follow up to my criticism of Tony's Garage. I returned and spoke to Larry the owner and we calmly discussed the issues of overcharging on parts and labor. He listened to my points and agreed to make a financial contribution to my concerns of over paying for the service. He reasonably listened and made an effort to make things amenable to me. read more

These guys are the best. My exhaust started humming on the way back to campus and I brought it in the next day. They instantly recognized that my Catalytic Converter was falling off and despite their full schedule for the day managed to carve out time to weld it in place. Not only that, their price for the repair was extremely fair. read more

I would give this damn place negative stars if i could. I knew my car was having radiator problems so i bring it into this "reliable" shop thinking it would get fixed. They tell me the only thing wrong with it was that i needed a new thermometer and nothing was wrong with it. WTF seriously? 10 minutes later i get a call saying that there was apparently "a leak" in the radiator. I pay them 550$ for these useless repairs. I started noticing weird smells coming from the engine and i bring it back. They say that they cant smell anything and there is no fluid loss. BS. I drove home and my car starting overheating and tons of green coolant leaking all over the ground. I brought it into an actual dealer and they asked me why TONYS GARAGE couldnt notice the smell. They performed a pressure test and it confirmed that i had a leak from the radiator hose. thanks for stealing my money tony's garage read more

SERVICE: fairly good and friendly. They have a good reputation for dependability and trustworthiness. However, you sometimes have to call to check on the status of your car. AMBIANCE: this is a locally-owned, family business that has been passed down. It is located on Storrs Road near the UConn campus. VALUE: about average. read more

Was my first experience with Tony's Garage, to the left of Red Rock Plaza area. They were very friendly, helped me with my flat tire. Surprised it cost that much to fix it, but oh well, rather have a professional do it. Heard they do oil changes for around $40 as well...sounds steep to me. I will go back because they were very friendly and honest. One customer, a UConn Grad Student told me she always brings her car their because of the decent experience she's had with them. My car battery died and they helped me to check my car and change the battery. The quality of the new battery is very good(my mechanic friend looked at it), and they are super honest and professional. Also, they were very busy but they managed to have my car done today instead of the next day while maintaining their quality work. They also did a test drive to make sure the warning lights are not coming back before they give the car back to me, that increase the confidence scores by a lot. read more

My sister is a student at UCONN and was having problems with her car not starting. My family actually owns an auto body repair shop so being in the business, we considered bringing it back home to fix. Due to the cost of the tow for such a long distance, we decided to look for a repair shop near UCONN. We chose Tony's Garage based on their positive reviews and we are so glad we did! The guys at Tony's Garage are great. They are very friendly and super helpful. They don't over charge and get the work done quickly and it's good quality work. I have had my car there at least 5 times for various things from oil changes to more major work involving some of the interior controls (about $500 - which was insanely reasonable...). After a terrible experience at Storrs Automotive, I was recommended to check out Tony's. They fixed the problem without a glitch. Location is great for UConn students. Great service, great price, speedy repairs and friendly staff. Trustworthy: I asked if I needed new shocks because my car felt like it and they turned down a chance to make money stating that it was probably due to the frost heaves of the winter. I've been back twice for unrelated problems and I will definitely be back again in the future! read more

one time i took a subaru forester 1998 for an engine replacement.they put an engine to my car for about 2000 dolar...after 2 weeks the engine that they put is dead..than under the warranty (they gave a month warranty)they put another engine which also died in couple weeks..luckly it happened again under the warranty period...they also couple times they charged me again for the check engine lights that i hadnt have before i went there...so i lost my trust and didnt want another engine. because i knew sth is gonna happen and if that happens after warranty period they wont care..so i asked my money back...with lots of arguments i had 2000$ back..but till that moment thay took 2450$ from me..also they kept my car..after couple weeks i saw they put my car on sale for about 6000..in these two months of car fixing process i was with no car almost 3 weeks..although it was their responsibility to do a good job, they did not and it was only inconvenient for me..you can probably go there for small issues such as brake tire etc..but never recommend for a serious car problem... read more
