Excellent care, excellent service…read more My daughter takes her car to Jack because she knows she can trust him to treat her fairly and honestly. His work is first rate and his prices are fair. In this day and age, he is a rare and valuable find indeed.

It pains me to have to write this review, but I feel I would be remiss if I do not…read more I have been bringing my car to Jack's since 2017, with mostly positive experience. Aside from their archaic bookkeeping and scheduling method, these past few years of service have left me questioning. Let me start with the most recent issue. I brought my 2005 vehicle in for maintenance November 2024 and ended up with a considerable degree of rear tire/breaks/lines work amounting to almost $900. This past Wednesday (March 5, 2025), while driving to the east side of Michigan for a visit, I was almost to my destination when I heard a loud bang or pop and thought I lost a piece of my car; followed by loud piercing whistle and then the smell of burning rubber. I slowed and eased over off the road to find a flat rear passenger tire. Towed to Belle Tire to find out the entire back frame was rusted through. It jutted out and caused a rubbing against the tire, which finally blew. The gentleman who inspected the tire couldn't believe the outcome wasn't worse. When I mentioned the work back in November, he was shocked the condition of the frame did not alarm anyone and said they (Belle) could not, with good conscious, replace the tire to let me drive off when the outcome could be so very dangerous and not end well. Wouldn't you think that this degree of corrosion would have been noticeable back in November? Sadly, I will not be returning to Jack's for service on any future vehicles.

I had additional concerns about my car and the mechanics went above and beyond to address the concerns. Their expertise put me at ease that my vehicle was functioning as it should. I was once told by a dealer's service department where I bought the car that my car needed brakes and it was unsafe to drive home. This didn't sit well given the car's mileage so I took the car to Spaanstra Bros. They showed me that my brakes were well within the safe operating level. Ten thousand miles later, I had the brakes done and they were still good although getting close to needing replacement. Of the repairs and service I've had done here over the years, they may not be the least expensive, but I feel I'm receiving value as a result of their competence and honesty. Highly recommended.

Spaanstra Brothers is nothing flashy, but they're easy to work with and fair with the quote. I hope I don't need car repairs anytime soon, but if I do, I'll take my car there. Don't expect to just drive up and get service, they're a small shop and if they're busy, they'll tell you. (That's okay by me, it means they they're busy because they're good! Also, I've had that bad experience where a place takes your car and takes way longer than they say they would, this place will be honest up front.) Note: It's super easy to get Spaanstra Brothers confused with Veenstra's Garage, which is just down the road across the street.
