As a medical professional of 28 years, I understand the difference in personality and opinions that doctors can have. Dr Eng was positively awful. He was cocky, arrogant and condescending. He made little eye contact, was defensive and his bedside manner was non existent. His unprofessionalism in critiquing his colleague was beyond off putting. He lacked compassion and the ability to listen and understand. I fully understand that doctors have different personalities, opinions and styles, but I am so unsettled by him. It was a waste of the copay. I am just shocked that Hoag would employ a person of this demeanor . This is a time where I wished AI would have scribed the visit. I would love for a colleague to review. He appears very inexperienced and green in medicine. It will take a lot to make him a successful physician. UPDATE( 2 weeks later)...no follow up from office manager when requested. I guess this is just standard practice there. Had second opinion at other major medical center and was told that upon review of my MRI, they were shocked at the lack of advice that was given to me by Michael Eng,MD.

From a clinical standpoint, the outcome has been extraordinary: I have been completely pain-free since the day of surgery. I now walk more than three miles every day, have lost 30 pounds, and am in the best physical condition I've been in the past 20 years. The improvement in my mobility, strength, and overall quality of life has been profound. Dr. Melikian combines exceptional surgical skill with careful judgment and genuine care for his patients. The entire process -- from consultation to recovery -- was handled with professionalism and precision. Thank you, Dr. Melikian, for giving me back an active, pain-free life! I am forever grateful!

I've got my active life back so I really couldn't be happier with his support.

From the very beginning, Dr. Jankowski demonstrated professionalism. He took the time to and made us feel confident that my mother was in the best possible hands. Also assistant Paritash was equally outstanding, very kind, attentive, personable and always responsive. She went above and beyond to coordinate care, follow up with us, and make sure everything ran smoothly before and after the surgery. Her support truly made a stressful situation much more manageable for our family. Thanks to their dedication and teamwork, my mother received excellent care every step of the way. We deeply appreciate everything they have done. I highly recommend Dr. Jankowski to anyone needing spinal care.

I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and have already had two multi-level spinal fusions to…read morestrengthen my spine. However, I required a third fusion to fuse my SI Joints bilaterally, but couldn't get it approved by my insurance. I found Dr. Jankowski after two years of trying and failing to get the fusion approved by my insurance. My old doctor was unable/unwilling to appeal my insurance's denial; however, Dr. Jankowski was more than happy to help me appeal my insurance's decision as many times as necessary, since I needed the fusion so badly and had been suffering from terrible chronic lower back pain for so long. I was physically and emotionally drained by the time I found him on my Southern California Ehlers-Danlos Facebook page. I was desperate. At my first appointment, he was kind, efficient, and most importantly, very knowledgeable about my rare and complicated condition and how he could help me. He assured me that he was on my side and would fight for me to get the surgery I needed. Seeing how emotionally drained I was, his office manager, Paritash, got to work immediately on submitting everything to my insurance to appeal my surgery denial and kept me regularly abreast of all the details of my case. Dr. Jankowski personally wrote a letter detailing my case. After multiple appeals, my surgery was finally approved. When it came time for my surgery, Dr. Jankowski was very reassuring and kind. During my recovery, he was empathetic when it became more difficult to manage my pain than originally anticipated, and stayed in contact with me throughout my hospital stay. The incision from my surgery was beautifully closed, and he went the extra mile to order me collagen-based bandages since people with my condition have a propensity to heal poorly from surgeries. Paritash immediately set up my home health care and physical therapy with the physical therapist at my chosen location and was always responsive, promptly returning my phone calls and texts when I reached out. I was also more difficult to manage the drains and the amount of fluid I was putting out than originally anticipated, and when it came time to review the drains, Paritash even came in on her day off, when the office is normally closed, to remove my drains and change my bandages. It was easy to make appointments for my follow-up visits despite Dr. Jankowski being out of town for part of my recovery and the surgery being right after Christmas. The terrible pain that I had had because of my hypermobile joints caused by my hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome has almost completely gone away since having my surgery three months ago, and co Something after two months of physical therapy. My chronic back pain has almost all gone, and my quality of life is greatly improved. I am even returning to in-person work after being completely bed-bound due to my back pain and muscle spasms. Dr. Jankowski has given me my life back! I cannot recommend him more, especially for other patients with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Could not walk 200 yards without sitting and taking a rest it was brutal. I saw four specialist all Neurosurgeons. They all spoke down to me in technical jargon. Dr Taghva was the last Dr I saw. He made it simple. He looked at my MRI checked me out said you have about 3 options. He told me what they were. I said where do I sign up. I made my surgery date two days later. He's an athlete which I consider myself one and feel the other drs were not. In my opinion if u sit on a couch you won't have any idea where I coming from. Dr Taghva still plays tennis and knows the importance of being active . He's in great shape himself which the other Drs were not. His bed side manner is epic. Now it's march of 2026. No numbness , no pain it's a miracle I cannot believe it. I'm so grateful to Dr Taghva! Also , Brian Coons his PA is very attentive and compassionate.I emphatically recommend Dr Taghva , Brian and the hospital spine surgery center. Additionally, the surgery center they use has never had sepsis . This was important to me as I almost died of sepsis after knee replacement surgery, so to say I was a bit concerned , would be a gross understatement.

That same night, while I was heavily sedated, I was served soup that was scalding hot and sustained burns inside my mouth, including damage to my tongue. My tongue tie was burned off. I reported this that night and then at my first post-op appointment and was told by the PA that I was not the only complaint that night. I was told they were short staffed and that it would be reported after our meeting. It was never documented. My dentist later told me I was fortunate the injury did not become infected. I have photos documenting this. The morning after surgery, I reported my pain as 10 out of 10 and asked them not to discharge me because I did not feel safe to leave. I was discharged anyway and told they needed the bed for incoming patients. In my records it states the nurse called my Dr with concerns. I was not seen prior to discharge and told to get dressed. Dr. Peters is a great surgeon. He always answered all my questions and explained things to me. I was nervous about having permanent swallowing issues and he was always honest and upfront with me. I had my surgery on 3/25/25. I was very impressed with the whole experience, even the Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine. They are very on top of infections and avoiding them at all costs. It took me 3 reschedules due to some medical stuff I had going on and Dr. Peters was very insistent that I could not have any type of possible infections going on anywhere in my body before surgery. Plus a big thing to know is DO NOT shave or get any cuts before surgery because they will send you home. One of the biggest reasons I went with Dr. Peters besides him being a good surgeon is that every time I called his office, his assistant Kailey got right back to me. It is important to me that I can get answers after surgery if something doesn't go right and I wanted a Doctor that I would get answers from right away. His assistant Kailey is the best!! She was with me the whole way from the beginning to the follow up. She helped me through the whole process. I am 2 weeks post surgery now and I feel pretty good. I am eating regular foods and sometimes I feel I am still swollen inside, I remind myself I am only 2 weeks out. I am very happy with my choice of surgeon and how everything went. I highly recommend Dr. Peters.
