Dr. Bederman is highly respected among his peers and I was very impressed by the many positive comments from his patients but what impressed me the most was that Dr Bederman reads and responds to each and every negative comments personally. To me, that means that he cares about his patients and wants the best for them. His facilities and his staff was absolutely first rate. I got my referral on Thursday, an MRI on Saturday, and got a consultation and X-rays on Monday at his office and Friday I had my Kryphoplasty procedure done at his facility. In fact, my procedure was scheduled for the afternoon but they called and asked if could come earlier. A special thanks to my anesthesiologist who spent some time explaining the procedure and answering questions as well as my nurses. At no time did I feel rushed, Dr Bederman patiently answered all my questions and listened to my concerns. After my initial consultation I felt like I was in good hands with Dr Bederman and his staff. Two weeks after surgery I was relatively pain free and able to resume a lot of my daily activities. He's my hero and would recommend him to friends and family

Arriving early doesn't help, as the first 15 minutes of parking are free but any longer incurs a charge. The repeated delays and added parking costs make coming here a stressful experience, and I will be looking for another provider.

I waited over 4 years to leave a review for Dr. Deckey because I wanted to give a complete…read moreassessment of my experience. I woke up with excruciating pain in February of 2019, I thought I had injured my shoulder. The pain was shooting through my shoulder and felt like an ice pick was stabbing me in my forearm. Dr. Deckey was the 6th doctor I went to for a consultation and was recommended by my physical therapist as the doctor who does all the surgeries on other doctors wives. The first doctor I saw was Dr. Lee and he told me I was going to either be paralyzed and or die if I didn't do surgery and he recommended only 2 discs be replaced. I left him after a shot in my butt for pain that had absolutely no bearing on my pain whatsoever. I called my husband from the car in the parking lot in tears and overwhelmed with not only excruciating pain but the prognosis from a highly insensitive Dr. Lee. The next 4 doctors were just as insensitive and gave conflicting opinions; one said I had 2 discs that need to be replaced, one said 3 discs and another said 4 discs. One doctor told me I'd never work again as an esthetician and to find a new profession. All of this "helpful" advice while I'm in excruciating pain. Dr. Deckey was referred to me by my physical therapist, my consultation with him was very efficient and informative. He said "I typically don't tell people they need surgery the first time I see them but you need surgery" he went on to explain why I needed 4 discs replaced and how he would do the surgery and what the recovery time would be. He reassured me that I would be ok due to my age & health. He said "I perform about 200 of these surgeries a year and they are very successful" Dr. Deckey was the only doctor out of 6 who made me feel hopeful and didn't make me cry. It was interesting to hear that the doctors who recommended less than 4 discs to be replaced failed to mention, I'd have to go back eventually for a second surgery to replace the other 2 discs. My surgery was successful and I have been pain free since. My recovery was brutal and when they say a year to recover, they mean a year. Dr. Deckey told me out of the 4 herniated discs in my neck 3 of them were crushing the nerves on my left side. Also, I had spinal cord damage that somehow my body worked around but all of that combined was awful. Hence, the excruciating pain I was in for 5 weeks before surgery. 3 & 1/2 weeks into my recovery my throat blew up with inflammation, I couldn't speak and it was painful to swallow. I lost over 30 pounds and had to see an ENT doctor to see if I had vocal cord damage. I did not, my body simply had a delayed reaction to the trauma of my surgery. This went on for 3 months, no talking, no solid food and very little improvement. I took matters into my own hands after almost choking to death on a Norco. I started icing the front of my neck, I did acupuncture, physical therapy, float therapy, liquid supplements, I did a swallow test, I had to go to speech therapy and finally after months, I was able to eat a California hand roll with about 4- 8 Oz glasses of water to get in down. It wasn't the taco I had been craving but it was a start!! After one year, I was able to start eating again but still needed lots of water to help swallow completely. I started exercising again doing yoga/Pilates. The two year mark, I felt stronger and I was able to swallow without feeling anything stuck in the middle of my throat. The 3 year mark I was still very protective of my neck and that affected my range of motion and movement. Finally, my third year going into my fourth year I feel almost back to normal. I move better and I can eat without worrying that I'll choke, I still crush pills if they're too big. My voice is not back 100% and at this point I don't think it ever will be. I feel numbness on my left hand in my thumb and index finger still, Dr. Deckey said the nerve was inflamed and would settle down but after 4 years I think it's always going to feel this way. My surgery was successful and I've been pain free ever since March 27, 2019!! My recovery was unique to me and I am only adding it to help others who may have suffered a similar recovery. I felt like an anomaly but my speech therapist said she had 200 patients dealing with the same issues after ACDF SURGERY. It's a real thing and the ENT described it as my body reacting to the trauma from the incision in the front of my neck all the way to the back of my spine. Although, it was a delayed response it was purely my body reacting to the surgery. Dr. Deckey is the doctor you want to go with and I'm so blessed to have him as my surgeon.
