Usually I never leave reviews about businesses or places but I'm genuinely so fed up with this place. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I got sent here because of a workers compensation case because I was injured on the job. Never have I experienced such unprofessional people in an office like this. Each time I have had an appointment I am always left waiting and not seen until an hour to an hour and a half after my original appointment time. This has happened EACH TIME. For example, I had an appointment today (12/19) at 11:30 am today and I barely got out into a room at 12:50pm and didn't even have the doctor come in until 1:05pm to only be seen for 5 minutes. The woman at the front desk is rude and obviously doesn't care that we've been waiting that long. They don't let their waiting patients know that they are running a behind, they just let you sit and wait in the waiting area. Not everyone has up to two hours to spare just for an appointment and it's ridiculous how they go about it. Please do not waste your time here and find somewhere else for care. It is really not worth your time. Every time I see the doctor it is quite literally between 5-10 minutes and that's it. Please don't waste your time here. read more

I got injured 1/8/2009 hot multiple hernations lumbar cervical thoracic. Been afraid of spinal surgery so I put it off. Then it got in my cervical spine pushing into my spinal cord. It's called cervical myopathy and had possibility to get worse most doctors I spoke with told me this. So August of 2024 I had 2 level disk replacement had immediate pain reduction. Had no neck pain and had great range of motion and I couldn't ask for better results. While in hospital two nurses told me Dr. mir don't want give pain injections but they said all other doctors Do 4 or 5 surgery's a day and Dr. mir does two and they never seen Dr. mir have to do a a revision on his patients. I went to physical therapy I don't think I even needed it told Hank his pa. That he said to humor him and go. Physical therapist thought my results are remarkable. So I went today on 1/15/2025 and they cut me loose. ONLY problem I got is I wish I wasn't so afraid of spinal surgery and wouldn't have suffered for years out of fear. I had to have dual cervical disc replacement (C5-C6 & C6-C7) due to a car accident in June of 2023. I had neck, shoulder, and arm pain that continued to worsen as well as numbness from my elbow to my fingertips. After visiting countless doctors, I finally ended up in Dr Mirs office last year for a years-old neck injury. Instead of immediately suggesting surgery as a past doctor had, Dr Mir had me undergo multiple tests that I had never been asked to do before (CT, nerve testing), had me go to a specialist for cortisone injections, and sent me to physical therapy. After a year of tests, progress monitoring, and check ins, we decided to go ahead with surgery. Dr Mir always made me feel like an equal, taking all of my thoughts and concerns into consideration. I have been a patient of Dr. Mir's since December 18 & have the highest respect for him & his excellent assistants!! I had surgery March 6th on my lower back L4 & L5 a Lami procedure to release the nerves that were being squished by damage I had done to my back through work & life. I had nerve pain for 8 years in my rear & down my right leg. I tried inpatient injections 8 times; though not one ever worked to reduce or get rid of my nerve pain. I didn't want to have my back fused. I felt it was very invasive. The surgery took about 2 hours & I was at their surgery center right next door to office. They were great to me the day of surgery & kept me for 9 hours to make sure I was doing well & pain was managed. Everyone was very professional & kind!! My pain was minimal after surgery. I didn't take any pain meds after day two. I doing physical therapy & Acupuncture weekly. I still have some nerve pain; takes time for nerves to heal.... After suffering 2 years with back pain, I had the MRI my general practitioner had been telling me to get. My pain was to the point I could not stand for more than a few minutes, and walking was unbearable. I was referred to Dr. Mir, he reviewed my scan and explained to me what I was looking at on the scan. I had a couple of herniated disk pressing on nerves, that was causing my foot to go numb. He explained he could operate, but looking at the MRI he could not determine the extant of the damage until he got inside. I asked for options! He explained Physical Therapy, or I could try an Epidural that it h had shown some success. PT was out since I was having a hard time walking, I opted for the Epidural. Dr. Mir referred me to a doctor, but there was no change. Again, I met with Dr. Mir, we spoke about the operation, I was very scared, he assured me that it would be OK, but that there would be physical therapy I would need following the operation, that it is as important as the operation. I had the operation in mid August, he explained to my husband that the operation took longer than he expected, there was more damage than he could see in the MRI. I spent one night at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute, the following day a physical therapist arrived and explained what I needed to do before I could be released, I was sent home later that day. I met with Dr. Mir two weeks later he arranged for me to go to outside physical therpy. I have been going to PT since late August and I'm so happy to be walking, standing, and riding my bike. I had been waiting on this appointment for a very long time. The insurance told me this doctor had to request new MRI's. I got there, my appointment was at 11:20, they sent me across the street for X-Rays, I came back and sat in the waiting room until after 1 when they finally called me back. The doctor never touched me, told me he couldn't help me because I didn't have new MRI's, and that he couldn't order them. Didn't want a follow up appointment, (I was hoping I could get the MRI issue straightened out) he was done with me. I left feeling defeated and devastated. Jamie from Dr. Mir's office called me to discuss my previous review. She told me that she was letting me know "as a courtesy" that she would be publicly divulging my personal medical history without my consent. I asked if this was a retaliation for the review to which she first responded yes, but then quickly changed her mind and said no. I asked where she would be sharing this information and she told me, "there are websites". I spoke to an attorney that told me that this is not only completely unethical, but a blatant violation of HiPAA guidelines and against the law. I called Jamie back to let her know that I wanted to re-affirm that they are not authorized to divulge my medical records to anyone. She told me that she was able to look it up any time she wanted. I let her know that was a HIPAA violation to which she told me that she can look up anything for their patients. I informed her that she may not look up my records as I am not their patient and she has no right to look up any of my records. If this office calls to bully you about your review, just know that you have rights. They cannot divulge your personal medical history to ANYONE and can't simply look things up whenever they feel like it. Don't give in. Remind them of HIPAA. Not only will I be reporting this practice to Yelp, but to the California Medical Board, HIPAA, and with Disc Spine Center. read more

Dr. M did a phenomenal job on my surgery in 2006. I was in a terrible car accident, breaking my femur and ulna. He put a plate in my arm and a rod in my femur. The scars are minimal and he purposely made sure they are in places where they can't be seen. He was professional and positive about my recovery, pushing me to the limit, even when it hurt! Dr. M also went above and beyond to help me with my personal injury case outside of office hours. It has been 4 years and I just saw him today. Since he was the third surgeon we had visited, I was stunned to see how compassionate he was! He spent over 45 minutes, calming her down, and answering ALL her questions (even making her laugh!). My internist referred me to Dr. Mir as she has had amazing results with her patients who have undergone surgery, and she told me he is extremely conservative. He tells 80% of her referrals that they do not need surgery. If he tells a patient he or she needs surgery, it's because it is needed. I was in chronic pain for two years with vertigo, migraines, and excruciating shoulder and neck pain and numbness in my right arms and hand. I saw several neurosurgeons and orthopedists and was in physical therapy for two years assuming the problem was vertigo and my shoulder, without any lasting relief. Dr. Mir ordered MRI's of both my shoulder and spine. He told me I was a candidate for a C5-C6 anterior cervical discectomy fusion surgery. This was confirmed by both a pain management physician and a neurosurgeon who was afraid to touch me because I have severe allergies. Dr. Mir was not afraid as he does many of these surgeries. The quality of my life was so diminished that I was in chronic pain at work and would come home to crash. I cancelled a schedule vacation to stay home. As the symptoms continued to escalate, I chose to have the surgery. It was the best decision I made. I am now 4-1/2 weeks out of surgery, and the fusion has taken beautifully! Dr. Mir and his staff are the very best! The outpatient surgery center, Disc, was amazing. I could not have asked for a better experience. My wife has a history of neck and shoulder problems. The doctor she was seeing wanted to do a fusion C2-T1, in essence fuse her entire spin. When she told me, I said no way and asked her to get a second opinion. She had been in so much pain for so long she just wanted to have a complete fusion. This is a such difficult review to write because I have struggled with herniated discs and failed surgeries for the past 11 years. I've had countless injections and nerve ablations, and have been in so much pain for so long. Although I desperately needed the rare and potentially dangerous thoracic spine surgery to remove the herniated disc that was lodged on the nerve root that directly affected my shoulder, arm and hand, I was unable to access appropriate medical care due to constant workers comp denials by doctors who had never seen me, and knew nothing about the pain I was experiencing. All pain reducing medical procedures were continuously denied for over 4 years. I had less than 10% of spinal function, and was a high risk for paralysis if not treated. I consulted my primary spine specialist, and he refused to treat due to high risk associated with surgery. He told me to go home, exercise and lose the extra 15-20 pounds of weight I'd gained throughout this experience. I requested a 2nd opinion. Nine (9) months later and a loooong story cut short, I was assigned to attend a doctors appointment with Dr. Hamid Mir. I was discouraged and angry prior to this appointment, but felt I had nothing to lose by giving another doctor a chance to review my records. When I entered Dr. Mirs office, I met one of the most incredible people in the medical industry. Her name is Natalia, and she changed my life. She manages the front office with a professional and friendly manner. Natalia is very quick to respond to questions and so easy to work with. Natalia took every step to ensure that my experience with Dr. Mir and his staff was excellent and so different than I had ever experienced with any other spine surgeon. Upon meeting Dr. Mir, he asked me questions about ME! He asked questions about the pain I was experiencing and what kind of spinal testing I had already undergone. Since my spine issues were not very common, he consulted and collaborated with a Cardiothoracic surgeon in the planning stages of my treatment plan. Extremely short review: Dr. Mir is excellent. I wish I had more stars to give. Significantly longer review: I have a long history of athletics - collegiate rowing, frequent backpacking, beach volleyball, and crossfit. After dealing with on-and-off back issues for years (partly from being 6'6", partly from inflexibility, and partly from core/hip weakness and instability), I finally blew my L4/L5 disc out. I still don't know how it happened, but the symptoms were textbook: I woke up one morning with right leg pain so severe, I could have been convinced amputation was a viable treatment protocol. After the MRI revealed a 13mm herniation blocking 90% of the spinal canal, I was first referred to Dr. Sanjay Khurana at DISC (who was great), but he wasn't in-network for my insurance. I went to Dr. Park at UCLA Spine Center, who was also great, but turned out he wasn't in-network, either. A Blue Shield PPO doesn't jive with many spine surgeons, apparently. I then saw Dr. Glenn Lipton, a very patient, kind, and thoughtful gentleman who handles the pain management/epidurals for DISC. After a long consult, he explained that I was NOT a candidate for steroid injections (his explanation was simple and clear: adding more "stuff" into the spinal canal - in this case, steroids - would potentially place pressure the herniation, therefore pushing on the nerve, creating MORE pain). After lamenting I couldn't find a surgeon who was in-network, Dr. Lipton asked his staff to pause what they were doing to find a DISC surgeon who accepted my insurance. I was sent to Dr. Mir, whose office was able to make time to see me within the week. The first consultation was on track to be a brief one - Dr. Mir came in seemingly preoccupied and was somewhat brusk. I can understand where some previous Yelp reviewers are coming from when they say they were turned off, here. Dr. Mir shook my hand, sat down, asked me if I had seen the MRI (yes, I had), if I knew the severity of the herniation (yes, I did), and then said (paraphrasing) "great, this needs to come out ASAP, I'll see what can be done with scheduling and get you in soonest" and then stood up to shake my hand and leave. His sense of urgency and directness was appreciated (as sufferers of spine-related maladies know - all you want is a solution that will work, and you want it to work immediately), but I had to ask him to stay for a few minutes to answer my questions. To his credit, he did, and very thoroughly so. He took me around to the other side of the office and gave me a blow-by-blow rundown of my MRI, pointing out the small details others hadn't (rampant edema, disc degeneration, small disc protrusions at other levels, the nature of the nerve impingement, and so forth) while zooming in and out like a professional photographer does when doing deep retouching work on portraits. I was in surgery ten days later at St. Joseph's in Orange. Dr. Mir brought in his own team, each of them thoroughly explaining what they were doing and why while I tried to play it cool and pretend I wasn't freaked out that I was about to go under the knife. After some playful banter between myself and the anesthesiologist (him being a Trojan, myself, a Bruin) I underwent a laminotomy and microdiscectomy. I was out of surgery in around an hour-thirty. I stayed in the hospital for most of the day as a precaution, and Dr. Mir came in later that afternoon to check on me and answer any questions my family members had. Turns out my herniation, once removed, was a whopping 35mm. After the PT visited with me, I was given a back brace and sent home. I walked out of the hospital - unassisted - with dramatically lessened levels of pain versus pre-surgery. And I wasn't *that* doped up with medication, either. I saw Dr. Mir for a checkup a week or so later, and he answered all my questions, concerns, and outlined what I could and couldn't do. I saw him a few weeks after that (again, he took all the time necessary to answer my questions about next steps and my progress, etc.) and was referred to PT. I saw him again recently (3-month checkup) and everything has healed really well. I'm not quite back to my previous levels of activity, but am cleared to swim, spin, jog gently - anything that's low impact - and PT is ongoing to ensure better core strength. I don't need to go back to Dr. Mir for another checkup, but he encouraged me to come back in another few months to check in and get another MRI to make sure everything is still "clean." Horrible bedside manner. Didn't read a word of my intake. Had to yell at him to get him to listen to me, and finally he said, "why didn't you tell me?" Totally lame, avoid at all cost. EDITED, UPDATED REVIEW: After reading his B-S response to other reviews including mine, as well as the fake ones that he must have had friends post, I urge you not to go to this Dr. We have a choice in providers and should not give any business to people who are rude and inconsiderate to their patients. Let me go into more detail for those reviewers who think I might be a "bad" patient...which I am not. I'm very well educated, patient, courteous, and come prepared to every doctor I've ever seen. I write out all my questions (appropriate questions!) ahead of time because I know, and respect that their time is precious and limited. I completed their entire intake in extreme detail, and to my dismay, Dr. Mir read NONE of it before he came in to see me. He asked me what was wrong (bad car accident, many herniated discs in thoracic and cervical) and when I began to tell him, he started talking over me...so I stopped talking to listen, and he never stopped. At any pause I would try and get a question in, and he wouldn't answer ANYTHING! Thank God my wife was there because I have a witness to this lameness, and she helped to actually get his attention...weird, right? Well it happened. Finally, we got him to listen to the most important question number 1, which was written all over my intake, and that's when he finally said "why didn't you tell me?" Are you kidding me Dr. Mir??? Why anyone would ever let you cut into them is beyond me. If a dr. can't LISTEN to their patients, they should go back to med school 101...better yet, they should end up with a dr. like him. This Dr. should consider treating his patients like well educated adults, then he wouldn't have to try to sway a yelp rating. Maybe he could also do some deep breathing and therapy to figure out why he's so angry that people are coming to him for help?! Last thought: don't do it read more
