That evening I had an estimate as well as a scaled drawing to submit to HOA Once we got approval, we were put on his schedule for installation ( after rain delay ) they were in and out in couple of days. I am extremely disappointed with American Fence & Gate and its owner, Milton. My biggest issue…read moreisn't just that the job was never properly completed--it's how I was treated throughout the process. There was a constant pattern of promises that were never kept. I was repeatedly told workers would show up and the job would be completed, only to have nothing happen. Eventually, Milton simply stopped responding to my calls and texts. I paid $4,300 upfront. Before the job was finished, Milton repeatedly pressured me by email and text for additional money. After becoming relentless, I paid another $3,630, holding back $1,150 until the job was completed. It never was. The final straw was Milton specifically telling me his crew would be at my home Friday to finish the job. Nobody showed up, there was no explanation, and my repeated attempts to reach him afterward went unanswered. I understand that problems happen in business. What I don't accept is repeated broken promises, being pressured for payment on unfinished work, and then being ignored. I have texts, emails, photographs, and payment records documenting everything. I gave Milton multiple opportunities to make this right before finally ending the relationship. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend American Fence & Gate.

I went on Angi's website and called 3-4 other places. Some companies would not even come out and provide an estimate. One company even wanted me to provide pictures and measurements. Arevalo came to our house, collected all the measurements and information, and provided an estimate via text with a price breakdown. My sister and I scheduled to replace the two fence doors, both railings leading up to our front door, and the teardown and removal of our patio. Arevalo called with an estimated time of arrival. He and his crew members were professional and courteous. They cleaned up the job sites before leaving and gave us a walk-through of the final jobs. They did an exceptional job. We have already requested and scheduled for a new patio installation and referred Arevalo Property Maintenance to neighbors.

We had to go outside at 7pm at night and try to clean up the mess in the dark so our dogs could use the bathroom. *Due to the lack of communication of when people were leaving my husband's vehicle was stuck In the garage over night while my car was parked down the road because there was no place to park and was afraid of getting nails in my tires. *My son couldn't come home that night due to no where for him to park and he had to take off 3 hour that Monday due to him not being able to due his job because he works a call center job and couldn't hear with the hammering and dogs barking *No communication what so ever from the supervisor that was supposed to come out that day but didn't show up or call and until I called him to find out why he didn't show up was he had COVID. New roof and a great roof over the 20 x 25 patio about three years ago. Mark Gilliday was our estimator and our project manager. On site most every day and the days he wasn't he called to let me know - plus I know enough about construction and code to be comfortable if he had to step away for a bit. When he initially bid he even put the CAD drawing out for us (ha even put in a shade line so we could see how it would fall). Made a GREAT suggestion on the roof line to add light and visibility. They were not the cheapest, but not high by much. Close enough to run with someone I felt comfortable with. This is the first time in my 30 years of owning several homes I've ever let anyone do improvements - because I know how to do them and too many contractors out there do not. or if they do they won't do whats right. We are now getting closer to closing in the patio area for a 4 seasons sunroom and i'm about to call.

Which was crazy because they eliminated the money we needed for the original repair. We simply wanted them to do the less major repairs first so we could make sure they were the right people before letting them rip our entire house up. We had questions about the appraiser and we were just uneasy with how they conducted business in general. When a repair is for $20k, we didn't feel this was an unfair ask. Especially when the insurance assigned a contractor rather than us being able to find one we were comfortable with. After 3 months waiting to settle on a repair (mind you, our walls and floor were torn out this whole time), it was our insurance company who finally said "we'll send you a check, just get it done." The repair has been completed one week later. Maybe it was us, but when I get a bad feeling about something, retaliating like that because of my hesitation only proves my point.

The project was quoted far under the competition (RED FLAG #1) but the conversation and intent seemed genuine at first so we decided to support a local small business. By the end of the project, we were hit with a final invoice 30% over budget, to be surprised without warning financially hurt our family. This was just the beginning of the extra expenses needed to finish the project. Furthermore and to our surprise, OTH cannot help with any of the other critical elements of tree planting, e.g. drainage, irrigation, fertilization, etc (RED FLAG #2). The project was performed in late December without any research into the topography and the bed design created a dam that flooded come spring requiring us to outsource a team of landscaping professionals to install multiple catch basins / french drains to prevent all trees from drowning. More financial stress for our family. Sadly, we lost 10 trees dying due to improper planting (OTH installed out trees shallow, provided zero bed prep, and bad location of certain tree species). OTH became hard to get ahold of when we needed them the most. We let them know we had pressure from our HOA to fix the mess (RED FLAG #3). What is most disturbing in this whole mess is OTH not warranting the work they did and blaming us for the issues they created. Now we have holes in our deign, significant additional expenses, and not to mention stress and confusion. OTH is a poorly run business and we wish we had not selected them for our project.
