Man. After leaving a shitty review for STK,I woke up with a sore ass neck. Karma. Stiff and couldn't move. Popped a pill, which brought some relief. But that can't be the solution. Looked for a couple massage spots, and came across Tong Zhang. I've always been intrigued by needle therapy and the skills of the Chinese so I had to give it a try, I trusted that I couldn't go wrong. The massage was painful, but dam, if felt the muscle being loosened up if that makes sense. The needle therapy was uneventful. First time ive tried it. I was a little scared, but didn't even notice it from a comfort perspective. I definitely felt one tingle a nerve as it went in. Walked out of there with some relief. Maybe 50% improvement. Woke up the next morning feeling better. A little sore in the massaged area, but definitely better from a stiff neck perspective. Definetly a place to check out. read more

I have seen Dr. Zhang for a few months to treat headaches and neck/shoulder pain. This has been a chronic condition for me and I've tried many, many different treatments as well as surgical procedures and medications. I have been amazed at how effective and helpful Dr. Zhang's acupressure massage and acupuncture have been! The sessions are fairly priced, parking is accessible and scheduling is very easy. If you're considering seeing Dr. Zhang, you should know that the massage is painful, but absolutely worth it. If you can tolerate the discomfort of the massage, you will heal and get better! read more

Pulled my back moving some items and Dr Zhang relieved 70% of it in one session. I feel like I can move again. Brought a friend from NYC and now she's looking for someone comparable in her area. The massages are painful but all so relieving afterwards! read more

He has helped me with a number of injuries. Most of mine have been scar tissue related so can't speak to other types of injuries. The joint at the ball of my foot was painful. Western medicine takes an x-ray then tells you, you have arthritis and really nothing can be done. Dr. Zhang found that I have scar tissue in my foot. He has the ability to find the scar tissue (unfortunately, the area that hurts the most when he presses it) and breaks it via very painful massage. One session and I was good for over a year. After the second session, multiple years. He will look at multiple things in one session - he will divide the time accordingly. Note - if you shout from the pain, don't be embarrassed, as you'll hear other patients doing the same. He usually is helping others in different rooms/stations. He rotates. Usually massage, then acupuncture, then he goes to the next patient and comes back to remove the needles. Afterwards I'm always happy I went and survived the pain session. The healing and relief is unmatched. read more

He is an outstanding Acupuncturist. I was amazed that by feeling my body, he was able to accurately described injuries to my body that were 50 years old and I thought had healed decades ago. And he was able to make me better. read more

Dr Zhang Tong is an incredible acupuncturist. I've had acupuncture in the US for over 12 years and he's easily the best. We're working on fixing a 20 year knee injury that I've had surgery on. For new patients, please trust him and his process and don't hesitate to provide verbal feedback during sessions as that is key for him to understand what's hurting and how much pressure to put during the massage portion of the session. read more

Dr. Zhang is truly a master at his craft. Expect to be in the mindset of no pain, no gain because you will definitely get there. He is incredibly well-versed in anatomical and physiological anomalies and nothing short in the art of TCM. I went to Dr. Zhang for my lower back and hip injury from weight-lifting and he alleviated my pain after just two sessions! Anytime I have a friend or colleague in need of work done for pain relief or recovery, I refer them over to his healing hands. Would highly recommend- thank you, Dr. Zhang! 1000/10 :) read more

Helped my messed up lower back after a strenuous move. His accupressure application isn't pleasurable but gets to the heart of the issue & releases years of gunk. (Drink LOTS of water afterwards!) Have only had one treatment & am looking forward to returning to rectifying my condition. read more

I was having random nerve pain all throughout my hands due to trimming pot for years. 2-3 weeks later after one session it completely went away. I've tried to be cheap and go to other acupuncturists and its a waste of time. I've been back for back pain and for my forearm from playing guitar. Also, sometimes you leave in more pain that will last for a few hours but after a couple weeks its like nothing ever happened. I would fly across the country to see him. Hes a straight up healer. I tell everybody I know about him. read more

Excellent expert service!! I felt better immediately. Would recommend to anyone/everyone

The spasisty is less and the pain is less I noticed I can sit without my hand being in a tight fist I'm so thankful to tong Zhang .. they book fast for appointments if you get an appointment count yourself lucky. See Dr. Tong Zhang if you have any injury or ailment. I recently fell from an activity, got a fracture which resulted in frozen shoulder. Physical therapy did not help and luckily I remembered I could seek him for help. While the treatments can be painful. I'm finally improving. When I first saw him, I couldn't even raise my hands, but now I can raise them and my range of motion is widening too. Dr has now advised me to see him every other week. He doesn't ask you to come in more than you need to and he genuinely wants you to get better. His wife Anita who runs the front office is super organized. Street parking is readily available out in front. Sessions generally run about 40 minutes or so. read more

Got pain? This man is an old school pro. I've been going to him on and off for about three years for my numerous cycling and general life mishaps injuries. He breaks up old scar tissue through excruciatingly painful acupressure, and then finishes with Accupuncture. Highly recommended. I live in the city and travel across the bridge to see him. He has managed chronic bone, muscle and ligament pain. Him and his wife, Anita are no frills, which makes me like the whole experience even more. read more

This place is legit.. unlike other places, Dr. Zhang and his wife don't "stretch" out the visit milking the system and he's honest about his treatment and timelines. I had four sessions with Dr. Zhang and there's definitely a big improvement. After the few treatment, Dr. Zhang said you're done and if the pain return come back and see me. The acupuncture part can be a bit intimidating especially if you're afraid of needles. You do feel a slight prick but the real feel is when he twist the needle. There is quite a bit of needle he uses, so remember to stay still. After the needle he'll give you a real deep "tui na" and prepare to scream. One bonus is they except Kaiser so if you're Kaiser plan include it, Dr. Zhang wife, Anita, will handle all the paperwork for you (you'll still need to fill out the new patient form and initial your visits) Parking in this area is plentiful and you can use the parking meter to buy a two hour time limit (the session last a little over an hour). Or free street parking is about two blocks away. read more

He cured me everytime I'm in pain. He is so good at what he does. It's a painful process but he will cure you!

The best acupuncture I've ever had. The combo with the deep muscle adjustment has made my chronic pain a lot better. He's a miracle worker.

Dr. Zhang is amazing. He uses a combination of acupuncture and acupressure to treat any illness. I saw him after testing positive for COVID. He helped reduce my congestion and cough while improving my breathing and fatigue. I highly recommend. read more

Dr Zhang is amazing! Very clearly knows the body very well and knows how to fix issues. It won't be fun - his deep tissue massage HURTS but HELPS so much (no pain no gain!). He was able to completely fix my very severe tennis elbow in 3 visits. The facility is nice, clean and thy're following Covid-19 protocols very diligently. Easy to get an appointment, and the price is great. Also worth noting - he won't sell you treatment you don't need.... after 3 visits he basically told me not to come back unless I re-injured myself. Nice change from PTs that want to see you weekly in perpetuity. read more

I am new in seeing Dr. Zhang. My experience with his felt quick out of all the acupuncture experiences I have had. I've been loyal to 3 Acupuncturist in the last 25 years I have been going. However, he is effective. He gives you an acupressure massage in the beginning that are hits directly the pressure points that needs to be loosened. You will definitely cringe because he wants you to feel the pressure. It's a bit painful, but I do understand that's what it takes to loosen up that area. I wish his acupressure massage was a bit longer. After that, comes the needles. If he feels it, he feels the need to shock you. Over all experience was good. The wife helps him run the office and she's very kind. However, I don't feel the Zen in the office because you don't have a private rooms. You will hear everything in the office. However, I'll go back to try him again for the second time. read more

This man is awesome! Really knows the body. The service is inexpensive and was referred to me by 2 totally different people both in different areas of the bay. I had to try it out for myself! He's great and I plan to keep it up til my hip and lower back issues are resolved which he said should take 5 sessions. read more

He is very good professional. I had severe dizziness as a result of my back and neck pain and they disappeared in one session.

Dr.Zhang is an amazing healer! I had chronic hip pain and it is next to gone! I couldn't lift my leg or cross it without pain. Dr.Zhang, healed 95% of my issues! Thank you! read more

Tong Zhang (I call him Dr. Tong though I'm unsure about his medical pedigree other than he studied bodywork in China when he was 17. He is now 62.) Tong is exceptionally skilled at acupuncture and deep tissue massage. I saw him about four years ago for treatment of persistent neck pain. Dr. Tong's massage was quite painful while he was doing it, and it was painful for a day or two afterward. But then I felt much better. I had a few sessions, and my relief lasted for years. This year, my walking grew unbalanced and was getting slower and slower over the course of months. I love walking. Since I'm 72 years old and retired, I have the time for long walks, getting in 4-7 miles a day. But this fall my walking dropped to a half mile to a mile daily. I feared I'd soon not be able to walk at all. I went to Kaiser for acupuncture, which I found helpful for pain, and a physical therapist taught me stretches, which has greatly improved my speed. Still, I felt pain in my hip and my gait was off. Kaiser doesn't do bodywork. Time for Dr. Tong. Especially at first, I found his therapy immediately quite painful. But it's already made quite a difference. I feel like I'm walking normally. Tong told me he expected I'd need 5 to 8 sessions. I've only had two so far, and feel a tremendous improvement. read more

I had two acupuncture sessions with Mr. Tong Zheng. He was empathetic towards my health issues, and I think he could have helped me if I had continued going to him, but his massage was way too hard for me to handle. He is definitely not for the faint of hearts. There is not a gentler mode with him, so I couldn't relax my body for the acupuncture. Overall my experience was very positive. They didn't make me feel rushed. Their facility is clean and I think their price is very reasonable for a massage + acupuncture. read more

No nonsense massage and Accupuncture. Clean space, great results. Highly recommend this doctor to anyone looking for intense massage.

I feel like giving Dr. Zhang a hug every time I see him for how he has helped me. I had scheduled microfracture surgery to deal with a cartilage defect that I thought was causing my various knee problems. My wife insisted that I at least try another way because the surgery is not a guarantee in terms of a good result and the recovery is terribly inconvenient (6-8 weeks on crutches with little weight bearing). Dr. Zhang examined me carefully for about 10-15 minutes and poked and prodded and contorted my leg in ways to help him ascertain what was wrong. At the end of this he told me confidently that my problem was not from a cartilage defect because I would have experienced discomfort during a particular point in the physical exam if I mainly had a cartilage issue. He also told me that he could resolve it in 3 months and that I would start feeling better within 1 month. He was so confident, and his prices are so reasonable that I gave him a shot. I am so glad I did. His prediction was accurate to within a couple of weeks. I feel much better now. I would say the knee is probably 90+% - good enough for me to run again every other day (I could not run without discomfort for last 3 years) and maybe play basketball. Please be advised that, depending on your issue, the treatment can be very painful if he has to work on scar tissue or other soft tissue problems. The acupuncture needles will not hurt too much, but the massage is painful. However, it feels better later in the day you get the massage, and quite good the following day. I really urge you to be patient and try to trust him. This guy simply knows what he is doing. He knows the body. I think he is a wizard with musculo-skeletal problems. He can help you if you can endure the treatment and have some patience and also work on your own to get stronger. I had an amazing result, and I feel so lucky to have met him. read more

Tong Zhang is an incredible medical professional. I went in with a shoulder pain (after surgery) that has been a daily aggravation for 2 years. After one treatment the pain level decreased from 7-8 to 1-2 ... I was stunned at how effective his treatment was. His business is clean, neat and organized and setting appointments is very easy over the phone. When I called for my first appointment they fit me in quickly. I am now returning to have him work on other painful areas of my body ... this is a tremendous place. I saw Dr. Zhang over a year ago when I had a severe and pervasive bout of eczema. I felt so well cared for, and the treatment and acupuncture felt like such a masterful craft. I recommended him to a friend recently, and so am only now posting my review. read more

I had been to the dr. About 3 years ago for a knee injury and was absolutely amazed at how much he helped the healing process of my knee. So I thought of him first when my back went out on me a few days ago. I live in Nevada Co. and drove 3hours for my treatment, Dr. Zhang has a gift of being knowledgeable and able to find out what is the problem and his way is uncomfortable maybe painful , but it is what is needed to help. I'm not fixed but I went from not being able to stand or walk straight to being able to stand and walk.I had sciatica shooting down my left leg and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Zhang is a true healer. I came to him with long standing knee & hip issues (torn ACL and secondary injuries that arose from that injury) and he helped me from limping/hobbling to feeling great. The deep massage is extremely intense, but have faith in his knowledge and abilities and it will help you heal quicker. PT helped a lot but without this additional treatment from Dr. Zhang, (deep massage, accuppunture, & cupping) I would not have healed nearly as well. read more

My family have been coming here for 10+ years. I came to Tong Zhang for some back pain from a car accident a while back. I am scared of needles so he was able to do various treatments without acupuncture to treat my back pain. My little sister came to him because she has chronic nose bleeds. He was able to treat her with acupuncture and shockingly she stopped bleeding as much. Currently my partner sees him weekly for some spinal & pelvis pains. He says he feels sooo much better after the appointments compared to PT. Watching Tong Zhang work says a lot about his knowledge of his practice & the human body. read more
