Candise has been incredibly thorough in understanding my symptoms week to week. She's thoughtful, attentive, informative and it truly feels like she's fully present with me for the entire session. The acupuncture has helped relieve discomfort due to my original symptoms, but she's also addressed tension in my head/neck, ankle pain after a sprain, and more along the way. She's also provided herbal medicine that's been custom-tailored every week and incredibly helpful.I leave every session feeling physically more calm and at ease, and emotionally more regulated too. Some symptoms, like the nighttime wheezing, are now completely under control, and others continue to improve! On top of that, she's helped me understand so much more about my menstrual cycle and what's actually going on with my body. I can't recommend her enough!! Thank you Candise!

He is knowledgeable, kind, flexible, and has a sense of humor. His co-worker, Dr. Wei Wei, is also warm and friendly, although I've never received treatments from her. We always have nice chats before and after treatments. They work seamlessly with MediCal / Alameda Alliance for Health. We were given referrals to Dr. Chen from our primary care physicians and have never had any problems with billing. Highly recommended!

Both Evelyn and Sarah are great. I feel well taken care of. Every time, I walk in with a new ailment lol because tennis takes a toll on the whole body! They are always there to listen and take special attention to my concerns. Sarah has even given additional recommendations of what to do outside of acupuncture based on the issues I'm describing, and I truly appreciate it! Cash or check is preferred; credit card is also an option but with an additional fee and an online form? (I've never paid credit card haha). You can also do a 5 or 10 prepaid treatment card. I love the sliding scale, as it works for those on a tight budget - but please give more if you can! Booking an appointment online is easy. This location is convenient for me, but there is also the Grand location available with more practitioners and more seating! I'm impressed that only two people run the show here at Laurel location. I believe there are 8 chairs here, of various inclines; you can grab community pillows to get yourself in a comfortable position to stay about 30 minutes up to 1 hour! I always want to maximize and do 1 hour haha. I've come with a lot of forearm/wrist/hand issues, so it's basically a requirement for me to prop my arms up on pillows - otherwise, they fall asleep during the treatment! It's a nice 1 hour out of the day to just listen to podcasts; I usually just fall asleep attempting to listen to podcasts lol. I do think that acupuncture has been a big part of my injury healing journey (of course, in addition to rest and rehab exercises) and I'll happily continue coming here.

The studio is a very calming place to walk into, and Deanna was very warm and put me at ease. I really appreciate the calmness there, and always looked forward to my sessions. She was extremely knowledgable and competent in forging a plan for me to help in each stage of the IVF process. I felt in very safe hands, and though I don't really know how the magic of acupuncture works, it made all the difference for me. I got pregnant, and have had a very comfortable, mobile, sane, easy experience that I am so grateful to have had given the high risks of my pregnancy. I am now a week away from delivering my baby, and would recommend Tao to anyone struggling with health or fertility issues.

The approach to talking about my injury was "accessible" to my "western medicine" upbringing. And most importantly: my third visit was like turning the switch off for my pain. I probably had a pinched nerve in my neck, but due to delays seeing a pain specialist through my primary care, I was trying anything. I ultimately was seeing a "western medicine" doctor and Tao to Wellness at the same time. But the timing of my pain shutting off is strongly suggestive that acupuncture played a big part in shortening the duration (which my "western medicine" pain specialist had suggested would be possible). Deanna was my acupuncturist.

This type of practitioners is very common in Hong Kong but I didn't know one here, so my brother recommended Sifu Simon Tang who had treated his sprained ankle. I asked him if there was another Sifu closer to home in San Francisco or San Mateo County as Sifu Tang is in Oakland. My brother said "if you want a good one then you need to go to Oakland." The drive there and back took over 45 minutes each way even on Sunday, but it was definitely worth the drive since Sifu Tang did a fantastic job in examining my knee and all the pressure points in that area, and diagnosed that I had pulled a tendon. He first did a message in that area with after applying an ointment, and then applied a warm poultice onto the impacted area and wrap the entire knee with a self adherent cohesive wrap bandage. I was told to leave it on for 8 hours before taking the wrap off and shower. I was told to return within a few days for the 2nd treatment, and to rest my leg for a few days without walking too much or climbing stairs if possible to help healing. It was a very pleasant experience and I am grateful that we have Sifu Tang here in the Bay Area.

It was more of a vigorous deep tissue massage that was focused on the area of pain and stretching and lasted maybe 15 minutes. He then applied a poultice. There was only one pot on his stove, and he didn't do any traditional tongue or pulse diagnosis, which tells me it's something he "prescribes" for everyone with pain. I did not get any pain relief from the treatment. I am disappointed because I wanted and expected Traditional Chinese medicine but got some other kind of hybrid treatment. Maybe it works for some, but, unlike what I love about Chinese medicine, and like what I don't love about western medicine, it seemed too limited and impersonal for me. However, Mr. Tang himself is very nice.
