The doi fuska wasn't the best, even though they said it was their best seller, It makes me questions the credibility of the workers and there taste. MAYBE they should MOVE ON and consider their menu options. read more

Update : I heard from my friends they are doing pretty good still now, good the service is great! Someone told me about this new Bangladeshi snack place in Jamaica. So on my way to meet my friends I decided to stop by. Upon searching on google it says opens at 1 pm, but they actually opens around 3/4 pm. I Gus's because it's a snack place, most desi people will come in the evening. Some young Bangladeshi friends decided to open a authentic Bangladeshi snack place, what an awesome thing to do! Rather then living on minimum wage at Dunkin' Donuts or McDonald's ! They decided they wanna try something different & make money for a better future! The owners are nice, very welcoming & super helpful. I ordered chatpati & lemonade! Both tasted great! Was full, so could not try out fuchka or faluda. Maybe after a month I will stop by again just to see how it's going. I hope this place does really well & have more Bangladeshisnacks in time, which we all Bangladeshis miss terribly I also wish I lived in Jamaica I would been their every day customer! I saw someone in google complaint about the price being high. I have to say this, so here it goes : 'We desi people will pay way more to an American food place without a single complaint! But don't wanna pay decent amount to our own kind! ' Really sad & disappointing! Please lets help our small desi restaurants to grow ! Don't be be so judgmental, they just opened. Came here to say that I have went plenty of times and MOST of the time we show up to this place. It's closed. And it's never updated properly on ANY platform. Not on instagram, google maps, Apple Maps and Google itself. What type of business owner leaves his DoorDash available as well and the store it's closed. People drive long distance for this place and the times are not accurate. Terrible business, they need better people to update their "temporary closed". they will say it's open when it's not. They'll accept ordered when clearly no one's working and it's locked. read more

Tong started out as a very modest food truck in Jackson Heights (it's still there). They also have another food truck on 168th St & Hillside Ave; about 7 blocks away from this restaurant. It has won the Vendy Award and has been written about in many food blogs. I have had Tong (the food cart in Jackson Heights) bookmarked for the longest time but somehow just never made it there. I was beyond thrilled when I found out they opened an actual sit-down restaurant in Jamaica! What is Fuchka? (See my photos). A little bit sweet, a little sour, a little spicy, Fuchka is one of the most ubiquitous street foods in Bangladesh. The crispy, hollow spheres commonly come with a filling of mashed potatoes and chickpeas, mixed with freshly chopped onions, cucumber, lime, coriander and green chillies in a chaat masala blend. This is pure deliciousness, packed into a little delicate ball of goodness. Tong is still having their soft-opening; with their Grand Opening expected sometime in December. So on the day we went, they still didn't have their full menu available. I was disappointed since I really wanted to try their "Fuchka on Fire" and a few other items on their menu, but they weren't available that day. But no worries since they had other items that we tried. We've never had any of these Bangladeshi street foods, so no matter what we ordered, it would all be new to us. And let me tell ya, the food at Tong is fantastic! Your mouth and tummy will do the happy dance! So many different flavors and textures! This was a real treat! These are the items we tried today: ~ Fuchka $8.99: the original: sweet, sour & slightly spicy. Bursting with flavor! Loved these! ~ Doi Fuchka $9.99: sweet-ish, in a yogurt sauce. Another winner, also bursting with flavor. These flavors were completely different from the original Fuchka. I actually loved these even more! ~ ChatPati $8.99: Layers of a variety of ingredients; mix the layers before consuming. Outstanding dish; yet another dish bursting with bold flavors. ~ Jhal Muri $6.99: (popped rice dish): good but my least fave dish of the night. Had we started with this dish, I probably would have liked it more, but since our previous dishes' flavors just popped, this dish almost seemed dull in comparison. However, when we mixed this with the ChatPati, it was delicious. Adding some chopped chili peppers also made this dish better. ~ Luchi Platter (veg) $11.99: a combo platter consisting of 4 perfectly fried poori breads, with 3 dishes (Dahl, cucumber salad and a cilantro yogurt dish). They also have a meat Luchi platter available for $13.99. This was a refreshing dish and a great way to end our meal. Note that this is a tiny restaurant. There are only two tables for two (which we pushed together to make a table for 5), and a bunch of stool seating along both walls. On this Wed night, they had a steady flow of customers dining in and doing takeout. Costumer service was very friendly, patient and accommodating. They are happy to answer any questions you may have. It's a small place but they managed to decorate it nicely. This place is fantastic and I can't wait to go back. Food cart turned tiny restaurant. They have about a dozen seats packed in tightly. We had the fuchka prepared regularly and one order of spicy. I didn't notice a difference between the two. The fuchka are these fried balls that were filled with chickpea, onion, cilantro, and shredded boil eggs. They made for a tasty snack. They were ready in about 5 minutes. read more

we just tried the chicken chop platter with Luchi, it came with two small pieces of chicken, they're supposed to be chop but I think they just boiled the chicken pieces and added some black pepper powder on it. In fact, we got the chatpati also, they most probably made it as just a regular boiled chickpeas with some onions on it. Even their milk tea is not worthy enough of having. They really should check on their chef, it was sort of a waste of money and time . And the place is small but as we did takeout so it was not a big deal. read more

Tong is a restaurant many Bengalis dreamed of going for years because of the street food they missed from Bangladesh. Tong brought them to us here in NY at first in a small cart. Now they have their own restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy Bengali street food. I have so much respect for this restaurant because of what they're doing. But that alone can't make a restaurant amazing. The food, ambiance, service everything comes together when deciding if a restaurant is amazing or not. Tong delivered all of these properly. When you walk inside , you'll notice the beautiful art they have of how Bengali street culture is and how Bengalis get served food in Bangladesh. The food itself is incredible. Their Doi Fuchka felt like a flavor blast in your mouth when you eat it. Its sweet and spicy at the same time with a hint of sourness. They have variety of drinks to choose from. I've had food from their cart previously and I can vouch for their Fuchka and Jhal Muri. Theyre both pretty authentic! read more

Now i know what a good jhalmuri & fuchka should taste like based on all the food poisonings I got back home. Tong had the right recipe and materials, but I genuinely think they fell short on the execution. I had to wait over 20 minutes for one jhalmuri and doi fuchka. I asked for it to be spicy but it had no chilies inside it. To add to the wait time (which i would not have minded on a regular basis), there was a random guy walking around asking everyone for a cigarette or a lighter! It was uncomfortable!! The guy running the cart was incredibly nice, bless him! I just think my dad had hyped this place up so much to me, and honestly it fell short. read more

Excited to try this spot after hearing so much about the Tong food truck. Wanted take out, which is anti food truck, and the guys at Tong made it happen. Cooked and packed everything separately and then showed me how to assemble complete with samples! Had the fuchka, doi fuchka, luchi platter with chicken- delicious- and the chatpati. Tong started out as a food cart in Jackson Heights, but as any mobile business aspires to become, it has graduated to a brick and mortar location in Jamaica, Queens, gracing us with its authentic Bangladeshi street eats plus more. In addition to the mandatory fuchka, little cradles of one bite wonder candle, a more functional kitchen means more experimenting with menu, including two luchi platters, sort of like a smorgasbord of a protein, stewed beans, bread and cucumber raita to cook spices down.
