Tom's Plumbing has always been our "Go to" plumber at The Sea Ranch. They in fact did the original plumbing installations when our home was first built in 1988. We have used them many times in the past several years and they still do a great job for us, no matter how small or large the job! They always arrive when promised and are very conscientious about their work. read more

We've used Tom's several times and the guys are always great to deal with and get the work done as quickly and competently as possible.

We chose Tom's Plumbing for several deferred plumbing projects based on the positive Yelp reviews that with the job done, we can add to. Kitchen sink faucet, shower valve, and two toilet fill valves in our home were all expertly serviced. However, each one presented challenges given the age (over twenty years of use) and corrosion present. Despite this, our plumber, Martin, found ways to remove the old locked-on fixtures efficiently and effectively. In one case, he crafted an improvised tool and returned to remove the outdated fixture, thus keeping the scope of the repair to a minimum. I also want to comment on the confidence-inspiring communications with the front office staff. Not only was everyone responsive, but they listened to our needs and provided excellent customer service. Tom's--from the front office to the service people--has been an excellent company to work with in our time of need. They are more than deserving of my highest recommendation, and I feel lucky to have found them here. read more

When starting to descale the on demand water heater, the hot water ball valve sheared off soon followed by a drip. To stop it, turned off the cold-water valve - it sheared off also and made a bad condition VERY bad... had to turn off water to the house. This on a Saturday morning on a 3-day weekend! Called Tom's Plumbing for emergency service as changing out the valves and resoldering the pipes was something my old knees and back just couldn't bear. Justin was dispatched and he arrived promptly. After surveying the situation, he made a plan and got to work. This involved removing the old isolation valves and some of the copper piping, then installing new valves, new pipe and elbows, sweating the pipe in, testing and cleaning up the area. VERY pleased with the timely repair and expert installation! Would highly recommend Tom's Plumbing and Justin! read more

We have used Tom's Plumbing for more than 2 decades at The Sea Ranch. They are reliable and professional. They will troubleshoot a problem and then work out the best solution to fix the "problem". They recently had to use several different methods to clean our our surface (and partially buried) driveway and perimeter drain and added 7 feet of wide mouthed PVD pipe to get through a hard to reach area. read more

Ontime (as promised) and good quality work. Replaced water heater, propane line raisers and installed water pressure regulator.

Tom's plumbing, was so helpful! And fast we had a crazy leak they were able to find it and fix it! Service was excellent.

Superb service. We had houseguests coming to our sea Ranch home for the weekend. As our guests arrived a pipe burst in front of of our house, gushing water. Within 20 minutes after our call, a crew arrived from Tom's Plumbing. They found the problem, turned off the water and worked till 8:00 pm to replace the broken line. Very courteous, very efficient, careful to keep area clean! They were prompt, and office was accurate in predicting arrival.

I've worked with Tom's Plumbing on a number of plumbing projects and challenges over the years. They've ALWAYS been extremely responsive and helpful. Recently we had a sewer backup emergency that required immediate help. Within 45-minutes from the time I called, there were two people from Tom's Plumbing working very hard to solve the problem. It was a complicated issue that required getting under the house in an incredibly awkward space with little room. These two were determined and kept on it until the problem was resolved. From the patient woman taking my panicked calls to the guys in the field, Tom's Plumbing is the best. They are quick, stick with a job, and provide options that met our needs. I absolutely unequivocally recommend Tom's Plumbing to all on the coast. read more

Rick and team have been really helpful as we settled into our new home - always available, super responsive, knowledgeable and resourceful in getting whatever the 60 yr old house (with a complex labyrinth of pipes, a well-tank-pressure pump system, septic and drainage system) throws at us done in a timely, conscientious way. Great back office team (tara has been super helpful!) and excellent customer service end-to-end. Our sewer injector pump stopped working and it could've been a half a week of us having to find a place to use the commode and take a shower. Called Tom's Plumbing and they arrived within hours to address the problem. It's a messy job, but their performance was anything but. What a wonderful attitude they had and their work was done professionally and in a diligent manner. I highly recommend, first class in all the categories. They also have done other work for us and we've always been extremely satisfied with their service. read more

Maybe they are really busy, but they are very unresponsive and also sent out someone who seemed ill-equipped to handle our straightforward plumbing issue. Then they got their billing totally mixed up and were hostile in following up (when it was their billing mistake)-- really unprofessional. read more

Came right out and replaced the faucet head. Took the guy about 3 minutes. Said they'd send the bill. $170.00. Tom's Plumbing's overcharging practice is another way for them to say to customers: "We don't care about you except that we can take more of your money than we earned." Another word for this overcharging practice is "theft." Really disappointing to see this in a wonderful community like Gualala. Tom's plumbing knows your options are limited, and they exploit it. That cynicism and lack of regard for customers is reflected in the other reviews here, and it is worse than the blatant gouging. Especially when they know you have no other choice in town. (They further limit your options by refusing to take credit cards.) read more

I will never use Tom's Plumbing again. I own a house in Sea Ranch. The owner of the business is arrogant and insulting. Brandon, the office manager, who directs all the many very young assistants is also arrogant and rude. Because one of these assistants turned off the main power switch when he was dealing with my leaking water heater, and forgot to turn it back on at the end of his visit, when I arrived from Oakland that night, there was no power and I had no idea where the main power switch was located in my electrical box. I had no choice but to stay a motel in Gualala and have dinner at a local restaurant. From the motel I called Brandon, who claimed in a later text that he came out after my call and couldn't get the main power switch back on. Early the next morning I miraculously got Mehl's Electric to come and they immediately turned the main power switch back on with no problem. I requested that my hotel and restaurant expenses be deducted from my bill. They were not deducted when I received the outrageous bill (all they did was take out the leaky water heater). I have since learned that the Sea Ranch List Serve (for Sea Ranch residents only) has many, many complaints about Tom's Plumbing, and also, the most important contractor in Sea Ranch told me that he would never recommend them in a million years. read more

I'd give them 0 if I could. They are the only plumbing outfit that will pick up the phone in the area and we have been forced to call them on several occasions. They charge $300/hr including their travel time if it's a weekend. They have misdiagnosed problems and tried to hook us into expensive unnecessary projects on several occasions. Just because they are one of the only shops in the area that will actually pick up the phone and send some one out does not mean they are a good business. I will never call this company again or pay them for doing nothing again. read more

These guys showed up on Friday late afternoon to fix a main log clog. We were so appreciative of their excellent and timely service as we had called many others that simply wouldn't come out on a Friday with late notice. They fixed our emergency and we are grateful. Good job guys! read more

They overcharged us, saying we owed for 1.5 hrs. of work (@$150/hr.) when the plumber who came did no more than 1 hr. of work. He lacked a supply item and had to leave to go back to the shop and came back 20 minutes later. When done, he sat out in our driveway for 10 minutes and didn't leave until my husband walked out and saw him still there some 10 minutes later (doing what we're unsure). When asked to review the bill, we were told they use "GPS tracking" and charge "portal-to-portal" meaning from the moment their driver leaves the shop until the job is completed, including time to write up job summary, etc. I've never been charged for drive-time to a job by any tradesperson. When asked how they can justify this given the possibility of needing to go get gas, stop for a bathroom break, slow vs. fast drivers on road, etc., got no answer. Not happy with this first experience and judging by the many other reviews here mentioning over-billing, it seems there's a well-established pattern. read more
