** I'm going to tell you about the " other" dentistry that I was recommended to go to first** OMG, talk about a mistake that was!!! SOOO, after that fiasco, I called TOMOKA Family Dentistry. They were FANTASTIC!!! They actually LISTENED to what I wanted to have done not like the other place with THEY wanted done. Now, I have Humana and with them, there are times when any type of professional established has to be approved before you are seen. NOT Tomoka Dentistry. They even gave me a same day appointment!!! (because they had a cancellation) BUT, my next appointment was booked a lot sooner than other practices I've been to. Tomoka D. also took more new abdaptations and indepth pictures of my mouth. Dr. Schimenti was exceptional, very professional but down to earth type of person also. Her team (including the front desk personnel) were nice and friendly. They also told you what they were going to do before they began any work. Well, a week later, (WHAT? Earlier than most places) I was back in the chair getting my 2 new temporary front caps fitted. (I go back in 2 weeks, because of the holiday) And will have the permit ones fixed. I am extremely happy. It took 2 previous dentists to finally find the perfect one. Was a pt for awhile here. Started off loving it. Then comes all the work she wants to do. Part of which was not necessary. Then comes the horrible chipped temp crown one of the Asst made. I had to be stern to get it redone. Seriously, who sends a pt out with a temp crown on a FRONT Tooth that's chipped and thinks that's ok? I had to ask that the girl who did it NOT be a part of my care, again. Then, later on I had a bridge come off they put on. Called the office, left VM, sent emails. NOTHING! So, I found another office that put it back on in a day. I can not recommend this office. It's like an assembly line in there. And...don't get me started with the DOG in the Office. read more

Well..I made a comment on 8/26/24. I was contacted by Tomoka Family Dentisty to see how they could remedy my complaint. So much for that.The rating is a minus 0 now. Here is my original comment: Rating is 0. I went into their office this summer. I was ready to spend thousands of dollars on crowns. They pulled out a crown that was NOT ON MY CARE PLAN!!!! Tried to talk to the dentist....called and no response. The temporary they put in gave me an infection....finally, went in to get my crowns and was held over a barrel...had to pay 15 hundred dollars....Don't go to them...they are a factory and couldn't care less about their patients!!! THE MANAGER SENT ME AN EMAIL ASKING HOW THEY COULD MAKE IT RIGHT...I said give me back my money for the crown you removed that I did not approve.....NO RESPONSE..Not a good dental agency...shame on them. read more

Let's start off by saying how garbage this company is. I made appointments 6 months ago and provided them the insurance information at the time of scheduling the appointments. They waited until the week of our appointments to tell us that they only partially take my insurance and they don't take my son's insurance as he is on his mothers BCBS. 6 MONTHS!!!! Wasted time that I could have made an appointment with another dentist that was in network. They tried to tell me that they could only look up the insurance information the week of the appointment. BS! My wife works on insurance everyday for pregnant women and she can see everything they are able to do and get 9 months in advance. Lie to someone else! I had heard good things about this company and they turned out to be all lies. I wouldn't waste your time with these people. Lord knows they sure wasted mine and my son's time. read more

Tomoka family dentistry was recommended by my Pastor after recently moving to Florida. I couldn't be happier with the front office. Ryna, who took care of the paperwork and insurance. She was on top of everything, Pleasant and conveyed to me what was covered by my insurance prior to me arriving, very efficient. My Hygienist Janet, who was top notch, very empathetic, personal, and professional. Then I was finally greeted by the Dentist herself Dr. Christian Schimenti, who was very pleasant. I always enjoyed this Tomoka Family Dentistry office and I figured out that they're only nice while the money flows in. They discontinued my insurance after a few years so should've went elsewhere. They convinced me to make another appointment stating it wouldn't be covered in full but that it would be a 'little' more......well, it was almost $400 more. I started making 7-10 day payments to pay this amount off so they had payments coming in steadily. I kid you not that with only $100 left to pay off, I get a letter from a collection agency. Is the billing staff so stupid that they don't see steady payment?! I kind of hope that anybody else they discarded doesn't bother paying up. Apparently, EX-patients get turned into a collection agency whether they are paying or not. I literally owe them $100 but the collection agency states I owe them $175.25. How are you going to charge me fees when its the first bill you sent?! This office will always get the review they deserve here and by word of mouth. read more

Make sure your work is Preauthorized by your Dental Insurance before work is done! When I asked why my Dental work wasn't Preauthorized they said it was my problem! Being in the Dental Business and working with Insurance companies, they already know what is covered and what is not!!! Although this practice sends out marketing materials to recruit new patients, it's very difficult to get an appointment within a reasonable time. I have wasted a few months now only to be told that my upcoming appointment needs to be changed because they are so booked. (What about my appointment?) Time to find another dentist. I just had a lot of dental work done. I am very dental phobic and I have a few medical conditions,the dentist Dr. Kulaga amazing! I decided on I.V. sedation although more expensive it saved me in discomfort and time .The nurse anesthetists went over my medical issues as well as Dr. Kulaga and Dr.Abrahams. ..a very through plan was drafted and a time frame I'd be in chair given.This very important as I have to care for a husband with medical conditions and his service dog. Everyone from reception to hygentist amazing and they are knowledgeable and very upto date on all the newest dental practices. I still cant believe I had all that work done which was extensive and in the past experiences I emphasize past experiences would have had me in tears...I woke up no headache no sore jaw still a little numb. Dr.Kulaga said I'd be a little sore ...I said to myself yes sure. I was shocked amazed and thrilled after the numbing wore off I had only mild soreness..I was so happy. Yes dental work is expensive but you pay a average fee for exceptional work. After when I got my permanent crown it felt odd it took me two quick trips to get it right both less than 5 mins. This was only because I was unconcious for the fitting and bite impression...it was just a little off but it was just not feeling quite right. Dr. Kulaga couldnt have been more understanding or kind...in my past I've had others berate me..I wasn't at this office I was treated like a human not a number not cattle pushed through a chute. White Wolf Dental is one office I dont fear and it's always a positive experience! On a side note it's one and about the only one who can accommodate my husband in his wheelchair and his service dog. This practice is wonderful. All of the staff was friendly, patient and helpful. I was nervous about having my appointment at the same time as both of my kids. My daughter is usually very difficult at the dentist and ends up crying. Clearly there was no need to worry. My kids keep asking to go to the dentist again and were disappointed they have to wait 6 months to get their next cleaning. read more

Save yourself a lot of physical and emotional stress and stay away from this place! My husband and I were patients three years ago. We both experienced a great deal of pain and followup work for basic cavity fillings. The dentist filled our cavities so poorly my husbands had to be fixed three times and mine fell out entirely and had to be refilled three months later (at that time I knew better and went elsewhere for the work to be done). Now, three years later they decided their business manager wasn't doing a good job when we visited and they say I actually owe them an extra $100 for a balance that was paid in full at the time of service. It has taken more than a month and many stressful phone calls, letters and emails to fix the problem, They even had the audacity to send it to a credit collection and reporting agency - legally credit slander. Both poor dentistry and poor business practices are reasons you should never, ever visit this dentists office. read more

I have been getting my teeth cleaned here since 2014, and I can tell you that this place has changed! Kelly at the front desk is a gem, love her and her personality. On the other hand, Laura, not so much. I didn't even know her name until half way through the torture of getting my teeth cleaned. I have never had a problem before, getting a cleaning, but today a whole different story! She wouldn't stop when I was in pain, she kept stating" I have to get under your gums ", seriously? Dr. Comes in looks for approx 2 min and says you need a crown and a tooth irrigation, I can do it today. 5 min later while still getting cleaned, another lady (whom was very nice) walked in and quoted me 549$. I understand that dental work is expensive, but the way you approach it is a different story. I am so disappointed, I loved coming her for cleanings, but something has changed and not for the better! Has everyone lost their compassion for the patients? Does anyone talk to there patients anymore? Wow, I'm sorry but no more of Tomoka Family Dentistry..... very sad... read more

Are a bit pricey however try their best to help people without insurance. Staff is friendly. Office is clean and relaxing.
