He actually had hired Trish, an excellent hygienist who had worked at one of my previous dentists, who had retired. I thought one of that dentist's tricks on one tooth could work again on two adjacent teeth. It was experimental, but Dr. Maxwell thought of a way to proceed that would not cost that much, but test the idea. He did it differently (by accident!), but it worked and I still have that bridge six or seven years later! Great staff, friendly wife who works the front desk sometimes. His skills are exceptional, for example, the little strips of paper he uses, he often only needs one, one time or two, and gets the right fit. Of all my dentists throughout life, he is surely the best by skill, knowledge, and personality!

She proceeded to tell me I needed a crown replaced and another crown placed on the next tooth. She didn't do a thorough oral exam or check the gums. She said that the office manager would be in to discuss cost. I asked about dental cleaning, which is what I wanted in the first place. She informed me that it wouldn't be done today. It turned out the dental cleaning wouldn't be for another 4 months. I've had my teeth examined and cleaned twice a year for 30 years. I felt the practice is much more interested in money, than patient care. I would not recommend this practice.

The front desk ladies are most of the time short and rude. I had fillings done here and there was one lady who was the assistant (I can't remember her name) but if I seem even in the slightest uncomfy with her she would get defensive telling me she has "college and a lot of experience". She would get really rough with my teeth and pull and jerk without caring how I was. They don't seem to care about your time. I went in for a 12 pm appointment and I waited at least 35 minutes to be talked to. Then when I was talked to, they said they needed to run my insurance and not sure they even did that as they came back with just a recommendation for a root canal to be done somewhere which btw took another 25 to 30 minutes on top of that. I simply came in just for an estimate on my tooth. It shouldn't have taken over an hour to make that happen. All of the bad reviews I am seeing makes so much sense to me now. In fact, before I even went here, google reviews said 4 point something stars so I said ooh sounds good! I am not going back here and going to my old dentist since they actually CARED about people's wellbeing and time. Don't go here!

The VA dentist also agreed with partial. Don't go to his provider . The office manager stated he would amend the note she sent to VA so I could receive the payment rial that I was sent here for. They needed to make a new one and change the existing posts. The bridge is extremely ugly and uncomfortable (doesn't look like teeth - even my friends have questioned the work) and it's very tight. Funny how when I needed a lot of very expensive work they were able to schedule me for the next day but for a simple 5 minute job, the wait is a week. They were FANTASTIC!!! They actually LISTENED to what I wanted to have done not like the other place with THEY wanted done. Now, I have Humana and with them, there are times when any type of professional established has to be approved before you are seen. NOT Tomoka Dentistry. They even gave me a same day appointment!!! (because they had a cancellation) BUT, my next appointment was booked a lot sooner than other practices I've been to. Tomoka D. also took more new abdaptations and indepth pictures of my mouth. Dr. Schimenti was exceptional, very professional but down to earth type of person also. Her team (including the front desk personnel) were nice and friendly. They also told you what they were going to do before they began any work. Well, a week later, (WHAT? Earlier than most places) I was back in the chair getting my 2 new temporary front caps fitted. (I go back in 2 weeks, because of the holiday) And will have the permit ones fixed. I am extremely happy. It took 2 previous dentists to finally find the perfect one. It would get better, then painful, get better, then infected, get better, then impossible to even sleep. The refered dentist couldn't see me for 3 weeks, then it was at an office 200 miles away. I read Nextdoor reviews and called Cooper Dental. They got me in same day, cautioned that the most they could probably do is an exam and x-ray. I figured I had to start somewhere. I had the preliminary visit, but an extraction today wasn't possible. I was given a Rx for antibiotics and an appointment 2 weeks away. Whilst I was at the pharmacy, the office called and said someone canceled, could I comeback for the extraction??? Heck yes! I went back, had a smooth and uneventful procedure. I asked for pricing on xray and cleaning, they couldnt give because it varies per type of cleaning which is understandable. I then asked for a range, I understand this is obviously not a guarantee but just to get an idea. The woman on the phone was nasty in tone from the beginning, I can overlook the rudeness because I understand people an be nasty but she could not even give me a hypothetical range of possibility. Also, she rudely hung up. Staff is clearly awful here. I plan on finding care for my brother and this most certainly wont be the place thanks to her.
