I've only given one star because my first experience with Tommy's was good. I am a return customer and brought my second vehicle in to be serviced. I had a full window tint. Aside from being two hours longer than the time they stated it would take. While I sat in the lobby. I went home, after a few days when I could finally roll down my windows and do all the things. I noticed little teeny scratches all over the tent from the application. I contacted Tommy's. I left several voicemails and never received a call back. I will not be returning to Tommy's. read more

I scheduled an appointment to tint the windows and tail lights on my Mazda and another to fully wrap it. I went in to drop off my car and the owner wasn't even there. I then clarified one last time what we were doing with the guy in the office and was told about 4 hours. At almost 5 hours I called to check in and they said they were only almost finished with the windows, we will have to reschedule the rest. When I showed up, with the cash I was told to bring, paid in full, I realized the windows are not only unfinished but they aren't to he specification asked for. When I tried to talk to the owner, and explained the situation, he rolled down my rear window, which is bubbled now and flipped out. Regardless of them admitting their mistake. Tommy's is as good as it gets for window tinting. They were the only one company willing to take on a difficult and unique job of replacing all the window gaskets of our right-hand-drive Mitsubishi Delica van (we supplied the parts), as well as tinting them. Job extremely well done! We brought another right-hand-drive rig there just this week, a Mitsubishi Pajero. This time, they had to strip off old misc. oddball tint and re-tint the sides and rear windows. Again, the job was meticulously done and looks beautiful. Interactions with Tommy's team member Danielle was quick, thorough, and accurate too. She answered all the questions I had prior to both appointments. I made an appointment to have my windows tinted June 30th 2021 on June 15th. The appointment time was for a 1030 am, It was my wife's birthday and tommy told me via email he could do the jobs then. It was a surprise for my wife. I get there any there is no one there. no information on where to park, where to go who to see because they sub lease from another shop. I called Tommy's cell phone and no one answered. I called back and tommy answered and said he broke his foot and he was not in the office and to go-ahead a drop the car off. I told him that we had an appointment and it was for a specific time. he said his son would be there at 12 30 (I'm not going to wait for 2 hours for his son to show up) I told tommy that it would not work, he said come back another day and he would make it right, he never told me what right was. I chose to not come back based on the fact that he failed to inform a customer he had an appointment with that they could not honor the time frame we agreed to. he could have called or emailed me since he had that information, to let me know before my appointment, that the chosen time it would not work but he never told me, so I wasted taking time off my work and driving across town for nothing. the lack of customer service these guys present is pretty bad. read more

I regret giving this place a poor rating -- especially considering I've had Tommy work on more than one of our cars in the past (two BMW tint removals) and was very pleased with those experiences--but considering what just happened today their service could use some correcting. I came in today (Tues) as that's what Tommy told me to do last Thursday when I walked him through the work that I wanted completed. Though he never sent me the email he promised to send me that included the pricing for each item, I still planned to bring it in Tuesday as that's what he told me to do. He was in a good mood and certain that he could fit me in and to "just bring it by Tuesday and plan to have it there overnight." I come in that Tuesday, and he's clearly in a flustered, irritated mood and basically tells me that I never got back to him and that I told him I needed to check my schedule and get back to him. This wasn't true as I am on family leave and I told him I was sure I could make Tuesday work. When I asked him why he didn't email the quote I requested, he said he's just been too swamped and hates it when people just drop by expecting him to do everything that day. Not sure if he was referring to me or another customer as he also shared he was crazy busy with another customer. Either way, it's irrelevant to me the customer. I let him rant as I stood there shocked because he not only wasn't able to take my car in the day he told me to bring it in, so I'd wasted my time driving there, but also that he was willing to make up a lie and blame me for not calling him back which I never said I would do. Will definitely not be using him again. Very disorganized and unprofessional. I'd gladly pay more money for better service anyplace other than this one. read more

Let me start off by saying I read reviews & this place seemed semi decent! I made my appointment more than a month ago. Today I arrived 30 minutes early to check in etc. I get in & Tommy the owner is at the counter asks me my information & I give it... He has ZERO paperwork of my appointment set up my name NOTHING! I let him know my tint has already been paid for by a friend! He has again 0 information other than the person prepaid! I ask him to see the colors for to tinting & he has a cow that he has to move from his counter position to walk less than 20 ft to the screen! He says for your car 35% & I let him know that's not dark enough... Little did I know I was going to get a lecture on illegal tinting & that I'd have to pay cash... Ummmm my service was prepaid so check & see if the person paid cash or card & Tommy couldn't even tell me that! He had no clue!!! He then asks why I have such an attitude... Ummm I don't have an attitude but you can't tell me what the person paid, you have ZERO of my information not even my name anywhere & I'm ok with this?! NO THANK YOU! He then tells me I have 2 options I can calm down or I can get out of his shop! Bro I myself and totally fine but the lack of information you have for me is ridiculous! You've already taken payment for a service that you didn't even do yet! I let him know the party who paid for me was out of town and couldn't be reached & that I wanted 15% tint! He continued his rant and rave to his buddy who said he could vouch for my attitude & I flat out said I could careless for the person or anyone else in this shop! He then preceded to tell me he would give the parties money back and I could get out! He then reassured me he was the owner! I then reassured him he was an asshole & had poor business skills! He then decided to yell "ya know what FUCK YOU." & that my friends is why I will never go back! So if you do schedule an appointment be sure they wrote everything down! I do NOT wish to give him 1 star Id like to give him a -5 because service was that awful! If anyone wants a tint I recommend "The Tint Guy" off 82nd! Maybe this place is the jam if you want to get your windows tinted. I don't know, and I will never find out because after getting a "detail" I don't think I will frequent Tommy's. I got an interior detail and a car wash, which totalled a whopping $195. They didn't blow up the car, nothing tragic happened, but it doesn't seem like there was any attention to the actual details (which is ironic since that is where the name of the service came from) I can tell the carpet and seats were shampooed, and things wiped down. That is the extent of the detail. I walked up, and saw dust all over the car even though it was just washed which is annoying. The interior looked fine in the shade where it was parked. It wasnt until I was driving in the sun that I noticed my car wasnt really a high priority for them. Dust on the door pockets, dust and debri on the dash, doesnt look like the door jambs where cleaned, none of the trim looks like it was wiped down or received any product to freshen it up as is customary during a detailing. I could have gone to the car wash ($6), seat shampoo ($40) and wiped down my own interior with a wet cloth and gotten the same results. Underwhelmed, and a bit bummed out since this was my anniversary present from my wife. Wish I would have been diligent and done a thorough check of the car when I was sitting in the lot. I would've just refused to pay $195. I won't make this mistake twice, Do yourself a favor, you can buy all of the products needed and do a detail yourself for the cost of Tommy's detail. read more

Tommy's bra saved my car from a "shotgun blast"! I was recommended this shop by a friend when I bought our first "NEeeeeW CAR" (said in the most awesome radio announcer voice I can do). We wanted to get some hot new clear bra to sex up our new ride and save it from the that "hit by a shotgun blast" speckled chipped hood cars get from driving up to the mountain in the winter. I checked out other shops and they all felt like they were run by some kid from Best Buy trying to sell me a car stereo (nothing against professional installers - you guys ROCK in your own way). Tommy is the owner. He asked us what we were looking to do with the car. Why we wanted the clear bra, etc. He then offered what ideal services he would do. He is very mellow and just calmly chatted to us about how best we could keep our new car looking new. My wife loved his and said we had to go with him just because he was such a nice guy. In the end, we had the whole car polished and clear bra put on the front to save it from the sandblast, tinted the rear windows as we had had someone break into our last wagon and conditioned our leather for easy service and clean up for the inevitable coffee spills. Tommy rocks. He put clear film on the door edges, door handles and mirrors all as part of the complete service - other shops wanted to "upsell" me into buying every little bit of service. In the end, I am very happy to give my money to Tommy. He is the professional business man that shows he cares about you and your car as much as you do. I feel almost guilty about the deal I got there and wish I had more cars to take him. No wonder this shop does some of the nicest cars in town from Blazer Bling rides to classic to race cars to my Subaru. These people need to learn customer service skills........... Had my windows tinted not event an hour after having it done the film started to bubble. Took it back the next day and they fixed the big bubbles but many of the small ones still existed. Tried to reschedule to get them fixed and told me it would be 3 weeks until they could fix it. Three weeks later I was blown off telling me they didn't have time to fix it and got pissy with me saying I was to demanding. Sorry for thinking I should have received what I paid for......... Move on I am sure there are many other shops that won't give you the rude run a round........... read more

Not much to report which means Tommy's is great! The tint job is clean, the product is high quality, and I felt my business was appreciated. The sole thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars is that I had to clean my entire leather interior once they were done as either water or some sort of soapy solution was all over my car. Dash, door trim, rear seats, everywhere. A little more care in post install clean up and this place would get a 5 star for sure. Fantastic Job!! I brought in my 2007 Infiniti G35x sedan to get the windows tinted. I selected the darkest tint allowed in Oregon just in case I decide to sell it in the future. After a few hours, the three technicians were completely finished. They were very careful climbing in and out of the vehicle, especially trying to get to the rear window. It was great watching them work, the amount of effort and detail involved in placing the 5 pieces of film was very interesting. There were 4 little bubbles on the driver's window the next day, but within 48 hours they were gone. It has been over a month since they did the job on 02/21/2012, great results. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Got my car tinted here probably around 5 years ago. They used a Suntek film that has a little tint of bronze in it when the sun shines through (matches the color of my car), but maintains that dark black limo tint status. I still love my tint job to this day (looks perfect and new still) and Tommy backed it up with a lifetime warranty and said if anything ever happened to my tint he would replace the film on the whole window etc. The pricing was competitive and they did a GREAT job, and believe me I have seen a lot of different tint jobs on other cars done by many other local tint shops in the Portland area..this place rocks and does great tint with great quality films. Their shop/facilities are top notch and you feel like you are being taken care when you drop your car off. Unfortunately, due to poor customer service I give Tommy's a one-star rating. I had an appointment today at 10 am, which I had set up with the owner over a week ago. I arrived promptly at 10 a.m., which was my appointment time. Mind you, I did have to take the day off for the appointment did my schedule, and I had to have someone come with me to take me back home without my vehicle. When I got there there was one person in the shop working and no one at the front desk.the gentleman in the shop did come out and say the front desk person would be back in 10 minutes and asked that I take a seat. 25 minutes later, I asked him if he knew when the front desk person would be back. He called her and she said she will be back shortly. I'm a very prompt person, and when I'm trying to give my business to a company, I expect them to be prompt as well. After 30 minutes of waiting the owner finally came in, and asked if I had been helped. I told him I had not been helped and that I had a 10 appointment and I've been waiting for over half an hour.he then asked me if I wanted to do business with them, to which I replied I did but I didn't feel like we were starting out on the right foot. The owner then proceeded to have an attitude with me, and tell me that due to my attitude he was refusing me service. I was actually pretty astonished at this, because the whole situation could have been avoided by an apology for running late. I absolutely wouldn't recommend Tommy's. read more

Look elsewhere! Avoid this place at all cost! I brought my new car here for window tinting and clear bra installation. For the clear bra installation, many areas were left with bubbles, which they "refused" to fix when I brought it up. Now for the window tinting, they managed to scratched the chrome pieces above the rear windows on both sides (on my new car), which they did not admit, of course. Oh, last but not least, they owner have an extremely bad attitude towards his customers, he will agree on things with you one day but forgets them when you show up and then blame you for "changing the terms" (see other fellow yelp reviewers' comments on this). I've learned my lesson the very hard way. Now, please do yourself a big favor and avoid using this place for anything you want done on your car. I would gladly pay more for a better customer service experience. read more

I went to Tommy's 1-2 weeks ago and the windows look great. I was referred to this place by one of my best friends. He had gone there in the past and was pleased with their quality and service. Word of mouth means a lot to me, ...especially coming from my close friends who share a similar appreciation for quality. I didn't catch the guys name that helped me initially, but he did mention that he was one of the newer members of the crew there. I had a few questions since I was new to this window tinting thing. He was very personable and walked me through the options and even showed me some of the cars they were currently working on in the shop. It was nice to see the actual work environment and to see that they treated the vehicles with respect. The day of the appointment they must have been a bit behind schedule. Though I hadn't received a call from them saying my car was ready, it was nearing the estimated pick-up time so my girlfriend and I headed down there anyway. When we got there, my car was still being worked on. It really wasn't a big deal(remember we came down before we received the call) and we just killed some time in the waiting area. Tommy happened to come in to the lobby to help wrap up another customer. On his way out he apologized for the inconvenience and made a very generous gesture that was very unexpected. He wouldn't take no for an answer, insisted we accept, and stated how important it was to him that his customers are not inconvenienced. I won't say what that gesture was as I don't want to set anyone's expectations, but I had never received such a kind gesture from any business. I'm sucker for businesses that genuinely CARE about the customer and their experience. It's something I value highly in today's day and age, and will always support. Total breeze, great service. I had them do the "clear bra" on a new car. I had done some research and knew what the dealer charges for the same service (basically, double b/c dealers contract w/ places like Tommy's to have the service done on new cars), so the price-quote and appointment process at Tommy's lasted about 5 minutes w a clear description of what coverage I'd get at the stated price. I had an appt a few days later, brought the car in, and the car was ready the next day (as promised). When I picked the car up, Tommy's (Tommy himself, I think) actually did _more_ than they/he said they would initially. What happened? We left the car for two days at their request for tint and clear bra. Showed up at pickup time and they had not even started the car. They asked us to come back in 45 minutes, which happened three times. Finally done at 9pm. We reached out after getting home and really looking at the car and the workmanship was what we expected. Bubbles everywhere, clear bra pealing, not aligned, the list goes on. This was Sunday April 1, and Tommy is out on vacation and expected back on Thursday. After Tommy returned he had us bring the car back in and he fixed everything. He truly does stand behind his work and like many small businesses has the challenges of employees. Summary: A true "commitment to excellence" in quality of work and customer satisfaction. I would not hesitate to do business with Tommy's Window Tinting. Anecdote: I bought a new Mercedes Benz E550 Coupe from the dealer in Portland. When I inquired about tinting the windows they recommended Tommy's and sub'd the job to them (or so I was told). 6 months later the film started peeling on the front passenger window. To save time, I asked Mercedes (prime contractor) if I could just deal direct with Tommy's (their sub). When I arrived to have the window repaired Tommy's disclosed that they weren't the sub and didn't do the original work. Before I could decide my next move Tommy came right out and said "were going to fix it for you because we want it done right." I was not looking for a handout just to get what I paid for. Tommy took ownership of someone else's issue, eliminated me having to confront Mercedes, and made me a happy customer in the process. That's unreal service. In fact, I broke out my iPad and was compelled to write this, my 1st Yelp review. Furthermore, although they could have just attempted to fix the small portion of tint that was peeling back they went ahead and replaced the window without a second thought. I had my windows tinted on my 03 TL and I have to say I was expecting more. I've had other cars tinted without any problems all through dealers (who I think took my car to other local tint shops). I decided to try Tommy's this time because of its positive reviews here. I had to bring my car back two weeks after the initial tint job because there wasn't a single window that didn't have bubbles, excessive water, or a scratch in the film. I also noticed (although too late) that they had broken a plastic clip from the stock sub woofer in the back seat area and never mentioned it to me. I had to buy a new one from Acura for $40!! After that, I noticed that they never screwed my interior door handle back on after removing the rear interior door panel to get to the window during the install. Luckily I found the screw laying on my back seat. Finally, Tommy's fails at tinting dot-matrix. My back window is all messed up at the top where the dot-matrix is. It looks like they didn't sand it or treat it at all before applying the film. Honestly, I wish I hadn't even had that window done at this point. Maybe I had this experience because I had the Groupon and they weren't making a lot of money off of me, but I would recommend looking somewhere else for your tinting needs. About the only positive thing I can say is that there was a cute girl working there and she had a little puppy that I got to play with. And everyone was friendly. read more

Took my car in, they tinted the windows. They were extremely friendly and courteous. They gave me a ride and picked me up when my car was done. Problem: Bubbles on the tint a few weeks later along the edges. Not a problem, took it back in and they fixed it. Problem is that they also sliced a 1" gash in the rubber trim on bottom of the one of the backseat windows and never mentioned it. read more

I had my Tahoe tinted w/ Tommy's about 8yrs ago and they did a perfect job. Went back again today to have them tint my SHO and they still do a perfect job! They also use top notch materials and the job is always done right (and he does lifetime warranty!). Took my Pathfinder in to get the two front windows tinted after getting an amazing steal on Groupon. Since I called them right away, I was able to get an appointment a couple of weeks later. The process itself took a bit longer than expected, but reasonable given how busy they were with the Groupons. They gave me lots of options and showed several cars in the lot to get a better understanding of what the end result would look like. Everyone there, including Tommy, were super nice and you can't beat the warranty. Couple weeks later, tint looks great, I've had no problems, and would definitely be back again. read more
