The property was clean and well kept. Clean bathrooms that are temperature controlled and have sound so you don't miss much of the movie if you have to use them. Concessions were on the slow side, but I assume they don't mass produce the snacks for smaller crowds, so that wasn't too bad. I also saw you can pre-order and they'll text you when it's ready - something we will take advantage of next time. This is definitely something we will do again when we are town.

The entrance area didn't disappoint with lots of little tasks and activities to do. I could see the excitement in my kid's eyes as they ran from one thing to the next. They did a GREAT job on that part. We ventured along to see what else there was to do. With no signs anywhere, we just wandered. There was a tiny pollinators garden and outdoor classrooms with nothing to do. It is probably a really fun place for a class to go on a field trip, but randomly stopping by didn't make for a great experience.

The gravel parking lot and well-marked welcome "hut" were a nice touch. They had a map of the "trails" (aka- grassy areas where you could walk from one side of the property to the other). It's clear that a lot of time and effort have been put into creating this place! My boyfriend and I made it around the pond in about 5 minutes after ducking under several low hanging tree branches. The lodge wasn't open since it's only open when paid staff are on duty. There's a nice covered picnic area with 3 picnic tables and a grill. Random "acts" of art are strewn about the property (i.e.- a wind turbine, oversized "spare ribs" on the side of the garage, etc). If you are looking for a botanical garden do not come here. If you are looking for hiking trails do not come here. If you are looking for a couple minutes of respite and a unique adventure, then by all means, stop by! All in all, I'm glad I stopped by. But I wouldn't recommend driving much out of your way for it. Since my boyfriend and I were at Washington and Lee for the day it was 5 minutes away and totally worth it.

Along with wine tastings, Ecco Adesso offers their 350 acre farm as a place to explore the vineyards, hiking trails, meadows, orchards, waterfalls and creeks that are on the grounds. I got a wine flight, which included four 2-ounce pours. There are four flights to choose from, and I chose the Old World/New World flight, which had two Chardonnays and two Cabernet Francs. I'm not a Chardonnay person at all, but I'm 100% a Cab Franc person. It turns out, I really loved the Chardonnay! Who'd-a known. That's the great thing about doing a flight: You can try something new and maybe discover something about yourself along the way. I enjoyed my wine flight on the big porch outside of the winery. The porch overlooks the beautiful grape vineyards, and it's a picturesque sight to behold for sure. The porch has big rocking chairs, so you can sit and sip and rock and stare at the scenery. I found that the people who work here were incredibly friendly and helpful. At one point, I wanted to try a little taste of a different wine that wasn't on my flight, and they didn't even blink and just gave me a pour. So nice!

During my wine tasting at Rockbridge Vineyard, I sought out the driest wines they offered, but even the dry wines were too sweet for my palate. If you like sweet wine, you will love this wine! Nevertheless, I did take home a bottle of Jeremiah's, which is their wine that's made with concord grapes. It's definitely a sweet wine. I shared it with some people who love the sweets, so I didn't drink as much. Along with wine tasting, they offer wine slushies and little appetizers to purchase, like locally made cheeses, salami, crackers, chips and popcorn. It's worth pointing out that we're in the south and Virginia fought for the Confederacy which may be a problem for some. The marker has the same text on both sides, reading "Virginia Military Institute instructor Maj. Thomas J. Enslaved African Americans Amy, Hetty, George, Cyrus, and Emma worked and lived on the property. Jackson left Lexington in April 1861 to fight for the Confederacy. Later known as "Stonewall," he became a lieutenant general. Mary Anna Jackson moved to North Carolina but owned this house until 1906, when it became the community hospital.
