We were referred to this business by a neighbor when we had a backed up kitchen sink. I typically use another company, but they weren't available, so I called Tommy Rooter & they had a tech available right away. After "snaking" the line for 15 minutes, the tech suggested "jetting" the line because of so much sludge build up. They jetted the line for maybe 15-20 minutes, billed us $600 total and left, claiming it was "all clear." One month later the kitchen is backed up again. I called them, leaving 2 messages over a week, no call back. I simply wanted to know how far they snaked & jetted, but they chose to ignore my calls. We hired a very reputable plumbing company to come address the issue, jet & camera the line and diagnose the problem, two different blockages in main line. Tommy Rooter didn't report any blockage because they likely didn't go far enough when snaking or jetting. They cleared the drain, billed us and took off. It was a band-aid. I would avoid Tommy Rooter if you expect quality work or any ounce of customer service. Very disappointing. read more

Tommy Rooter always comes through. We had a clogged toilet and just to be cautious I got three estimates. The first was outrageous. The 2nd from Roto Rooter was really high. And they made such a big deal out of it. But the estimate from Tommy Rooter was very fair. And they didn't make a big deal out of it. Had Tommy Rooter out to repair a leaking toilet valve (before it became a more serious problem). Tommy (owner) came and did an excellent job, explained everything that he did, and also pointed out some other plumbing we should consider having addressed "at some point in the future", that was not an immediate concern. Involved our outside water turn-off valve. Explained that at some point, it could become increasingly difficult to turn the valve off and on, and it could potentially leak. Nice change to have someone say, "you don't have to do this now, but you may consider having this work done at a later time". I called Sunday evening to see if I could set up a simple appointment for my water heater going out. I was received with annoyance and boredom from the answering service and was hung up on twice. When I asked when the business was open, the answering service rep told me she doesn't know "that is not my job, my job is to answer the phones" I then spoke to another rep who called the next day who said they tried to call me back but no answer. I had my and my husbands numbers on the request in case I was in a meeting on Monday and they never tried to call me. Instead they called the second number on the request at 8:35 on Sunday night and, not knowing who it was and it being a Sunday night not expecting a call until Monday during business hours, he didn't answer. When I finally got a call back on Monday evening I told them that I was going to go with another company because I never got a call back from them and I explained that I was hung up on twice by the answering service who was very rude. She didn't say much to that. When I asked why she didn't try to call the first number on Monday to reach me, she said, "its not my fault you can't return a phone call" These people are rude, condescending and have an all around "I don't care" attitude. I suspect that they have enough AC calls in the desert so they don't need my business. Oh and the first question I was asked was "is it under warranty?". I suspect warrantied calls are not a priority for them. read more

We had a leak and the carpet was soaked, but we didn't know where it was coming from so Tommy Rooter came out the next day and got underneath the house, and searched and searched and searched and lo and behold. It was the dishwasher in which they discovered after about an hour of searching for the leak. They got it repaired or stopped at least. We were having problems with our water heater staying lit and we could barely take 2 warm showers. I tried to re lite the pilot to no avail. I called our home warranty company. They dispatched Tommy Rooter Plumbing. They responded right away and sent a technician named Joseph out the next morning to check the problem. It was flashing 6 times. Which says replace burner. When Joseph came out he looked at the water heater and could see how dusty the water heater compartment was. He cleaned the area and tried to start the furnace. The furnace lit on the 1st try. (OF COURSE) he also needed to replace my shower on - off valve. He took it a part and saw the valve stem was broken. He didn't have 1 on his truck. So he went to the parts warehouse and got a new 1. All the while the water heater was working great. He then replaced the shower valve. Joseph then turned water back on and tried valve. It was smooth to turn on and off. He tested the hot water and it come out hot just like it should. It's been a few days and we haven't had anymore trouble with the water hearer pilot going out. It was nice to know that Joseph didn't automatically replace the water heater burner. He saved me some money and that made me happy. It's also nice how Tommy Rooter Plumbing was quick to respond to the call and has good plumbers who aren't out to make money. Do not call this company for any type of repair they are completely incompetent they cut a big hole in my drywall and it looks like the guy used a claw hammer to do it. They do not repair drywall so you gotta get someone else to repair the damage and this big hole is going to cost $250.00 to repair. Go find another contractor to fix your plumbing issue. read more

Turns out, the company didn't really correct the issue with the toilet. It is possible that the technician that was sent didn't really know what to do about the issue. The owner was supposed to go out to check it out himself, but he sent someone else. It seems that the issue is still happening. I called Tommy Rooter out because my kitchen sink was draining slowly. Now it's flowing free!!! My sink was backing up Saturday while doing dishes so I took the plumbing apart under the sink on Sunday. I knew the clog wasn't there since all the pipes were clear. No problem, I'm handy and I happen to have a 25' Rigid hand auger and I know where the clean out is just outside the house. I can take care of this myself, or so I thought! I used my auger and could get maybe 10-15 feet into the pipe and after going in and out three times, I was tired. I didn't find any glaring clogs so I ran my sink water for a while and sure enough, it started backing up again. I called Monday morning instead of Sunday because it wasn't a super urgent issue that needed to pull a busy plumber from his or her home on a Sunday. I called and got Janelle(hopefully spelled right) on the phone right away. She was very friendly and only took about two minutes to get my info and get me booked for that same afternoon. Jeff arrived, clean and friendly as scheduled and knew what needed to be done right away. Within about 30 minutes he and his powered auger had the problem solved! I recently installed a Flume leak detection device on my water meter and it was showing about 8 gallons of water per hour constantly being used. After visually checking around my house for any leaks, I contacted Old Republic Home Warranty and they sent a plumber. He determined it was probably a slab leak and I needed someone that had leak detection equipment. I contacted Old Republic, Tommy Rooter called me that afternoon and was able to set up an appointment for the next day. Adrian arrived, was very thorough in checking the whole house with his leak detection equipment and found that it was a toilet. He replaced the defective part and leak issue solved. There was no visual or sound indication that the toilet was losing 8 gallons of water per hour. This company is very poorly run and does not stand behind their work! We had a drain stoppage in our kitchen sink that was was supposedly fixed and we're charged $125.00 for the service call. the next day we filled the sink with hot water to make sure the sink lines were open. Guess what, the same stoppage existed! Called Tommy Rooter back and was told there would be another service charge of $125.00 even though the problem still existed. When the Plummer arrived he was nice enough to call his boss to either waive the service charge or reduce the amount of charge. Both were denied! How can a company not warrant their work. I would like to share my experience with Tommy Rooter. Yesterday, the plumber shows up to fix my plumbing issue which was to unclog my toilet. Not even one min into using a snake my toilet was broken. So I had to wait until the plumber came back causing me to miss my doctor's appointment. He shows up 2 hours later with a smaller toilet than what was there. He doesn't change the wax ring nor did he seal the toilet with caulking. The plumber than says that's all that he can do. Leaves my bathroom a complete miss with water everywhere and the toilet still doesn't work. I then wait till today to call and explain my experience with the receptionist and she asks me to email her pictures which I did and she would let the owner know and as off 7:48 pm I have still have not received a call or an email. What does that say about the owner and how his business is run. I'll let you come up with your own conclusions. I now have to pay to replace the toilet that they broke and then pay for an emergency plumber to come out cause I am 55 and disabled and I can't live without a bathroom. read more

After a couple of poor experiences with other providers, I asked for a new in-network provider. Tommy himself came out, with Joe. Tommy owns both the plumbing company and the AC company. They helped address a complex situation at our house and are working with old republic to get authorization to do the work. These guys were so friendly and knowledgeable, and I trusted the views and opinions. It was a pleasure to have them in our home, and I loved learning about the problem we are facing, explained in really simple terms. I wouldn't have expected that the provider the home warranty company would send would end up being a company I would call on my own, even outside warranty, but I definitely will. My first plumber could not fix the problem and told me that the water heater had to be replaced and that there would be a $450 charge over and above what the warranty company was going to pay. In one service, the drain was cleared by the second plumber. Turns out this was not complicated and I wasted time and a lot of money dealing with Tommy Rooter. When asked why the billing, when they didn't complete the repairs, they responded that we didn't ask for a guarantee. Pro:Called them Sunday at 9am, they had someone at my house about an hour later. Rudy, called about 15 min before he arrived. I needed him to solder a pipe where the hose hooked up. (Soldering isn't difficult, but I had 4 women that wouldn't let me do it because a "professional" needed to do it. Rudy was quick and great to deal with. He gave a quote before he started the job and a quick description of what needed to be done. Con: Overpriced, for the work required and the difficulty, I believe they overcharged. If you take into consideration it's a Sunday and they had someone at my house about an hour after I called, might justify it a bit, but there was no charge for Sunday..... Summary: If you're limited on time and need someone to come out and do the job correctly, they are your company, but you will end up paying more than if you shop around. read more
