After the hygienist finished with my teeth she said "the doctor will be in to discuss your treatment plan.' Er, what the hell? Treatment plan...what are my teeth falling out of my head??? So the Dr. came in, he was pleasant enough, but as he was 'examining' my teeth and xrays he would not say how many cavities I had. I mean really, he was acting super cagey. I started getting a bad feeling. When I pressed him he said that 'it would be doing me a disservice b/c he wanted to study my xrays and not rush my treatment' Now let me stop, my oral hygiene is excellent. Floss every night, brush twice a day etc. I have cavities from my youth, but damn, this guy made it sound like I needed to be fitted for dentures. So anyways, back to my visit. When pressed he showed me that one of my prior cavities was cracked. OK. so I made an appt to come back. So visit #2...October '13. We discussed my treatment plan. After the 5 so called cavities that he pointed out I lost it. I mean seriously. Are you kidding me? So that day he was also about 30 minutes late - so we only had time to replace the cracked filling. I book visit #3. So visit #3....October/November '13...I go back. I'm having complications w/ the first filling -hot/cold sensitivity, even when doing simple things like chewing gum. He fixes that and then starts filling these phantom cavities - that day he filled 1 with a resin, not silver cavity. I say phantom cavities b/c I'm not convinced that they were needed. So at end of Visit 3 I book for visit 4...that's when I start listening to my gut. I went and got a 2nd opinion. 2nd dentist was diplomatic, said that Dr. Miles's work was good, but based on what she was seeing on HIS xrays (yes I had them send my file over) she didn't see these umpteen cavities he was talking about. Oh and when checking out at 2nd opinion dentist I learned that Dr Miles had exhausted all of my dental benefits for 2013...that had NEVER EVER happened to me. I was pissed, firstly was his office ever going to tell me that? I had booked Apt #4 for December! Also 2nd opinion dentist office said even though I had no benefits left they'd charge me the insurance discounted price. That got me to thinking, I looked at bills from Dr. Miles and he was billing my insurance full price. He doesn't appear to offer discounts for insurance even though he supposedly "takes my insurance." This is why my insurance benefits were maxed after just 3 visits to a dentist! So recap, a cleaning, two cavities had exhausted my insurance benefits. I know this is a long winded review, but I obviously feel strongly that this guy is a shifty SOB. Now I have no complaints about the quality of his work. - but he clearly is not above board and is overcharging and performing work that doesn't need to be done. My coworker feels terrible for recommending him - turns out he was getting the same raw deal, but stupid is as stupid does...he also didn't question it when asked about a 'treatment plan' yadda yadda yadda.
