I was surprised to find out that Tommi's was a small chain. It has such a non-chain/independent/local joint feel to it but maybe this is on purpose and if so they've succeeded. The Burgers have just the right size of meat to bun ratio. I've tried the Bacon Cheese Offer & think what sets them apart is the flame grilling and the taste that comes from that. I prefer their sweet potato fries over regular. Located in the meat packing district, it isn't very big so seating is limited and the outside benches are nice if the weather is good. Overall, tasty/flavorful and consistent Burger prepared the way you like it with plenty of sauce choices & you could spend a lot more for a Burger in CPH but Tommi's delivers great taste at reasonable prices. read more

I just found my favorite new burger place in Copenhagen! There are so many options for burgers in this city that it really depends what you're looking for, but if a classic cheeseburger with fries and a coke is what you're craving, then hands down, Tommi's is the best I've had. It is true, high quality fast food of the kind you'll find at any diner in the US. Copenhagen is famous for all of it's gourmet burger places, so if you're in the mood for a gruyere and avocado tofu burger with mango chutney, then head over to Halifax or Grillen (I'm exaggerating a bit - but just a cheeseburger is not exactly the standard fare at these places). And don't get me wrong, I love me some avocado on my beef, but sometimes you just want something simple and straightforward to scarf down in 5 bites, something which also won't make much of a dent in your wallet. I was told on the phone my order would be ready within half an hour. When I arrived at the burger join some 25 minutes later, it was not possible to get near the cash register, let alone get eye contact with the cashier, so I decided to wait until they called me up. After forty minutes I inquired the burger slingers as to why my order wasn't ready - and was told that I upon arrival should have contacted the cashier in order to pay for my order, so that they could get it started. Excellent burgers. Ordering was a tad confusing at first. I had the cheeseburger with bacon. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We shared fries, they were literally some of the best restaurant fries I've had in a long time. They also had a couple beers on tap. WHAT a TREAT! I know Yelp is against profanities so I'm gonna spare you for them, even though in this occassion they were meant to be used positively to describe what an awesome freakin' shake I had. It's weird but it felt like it was worth the 40 kr (7$). It was THAT good. After a decent amount of waiting, our burgers arrived. But they were definitely worth the wait. I haven't had such a delicious Bacon-CheeseBurger since I was at Steak n' Shake in Greensboro, NC. The meat was delicous, with a touch of smoky flavor & good thick slices of bacon. The best burger I've had in Denmark. It ain't exactly cheap, but it's a place that serves a delicious burger and an awesome shake. In a city where it's impossible to eat for less than $30, got to love the charburgers and fluffy oily buns here. Fries could be a bit more cooked/crisp for my taste, coke was watered down and several of the sauces were indistinguishable, but I'll be back for that burger and outdoor benches. read more

A few well spent hours with another person's life story in your backpack. The fries where thin but my personal preference is the thick ones. However I like the fact that you can choose from a a bunch of different sauces to use as a dip or put in your own burger for exploring new creations. I had a regular burger with added bacon and chili-mayo - I couldn't taste the mayo but the meat was juicy and well tasting. I had the burger menu with fries and a beer, decent price (if you don't have to pay for a stranger) and busy, but nice staff. I wouldn't agree to this being the best burger in Copenhagen but clearly a hot choice to try out if you're around. However the burger place next door (can be viewed in my older reviews) is a little better when it comes to taste and beer labels to choose from. read more

We really enjoyed our burger dinner here on our last evening in Copenhagen. The burger was simple yet very juicy and well done. Do not expect stacks of fancy, gourmet ingredients but rather, a very down to earth yet mouth-watering burger. The spicy mayo to accompany the fries was spot on as well. I must admit that I'm not a fan of burger (before you all choked on that, please know that I'm a huge fan of fries instead) and that my visits to Tommi's are not fueled by my otherworldly cravings for these tanned buns, but more like a necessity. That said, I think Tommi's burger is quite alright. I could at least vouch for the fries. Do go here when it's not "rush hours" because the queue could be quite long, it being in the trendy Kødbyen and all. The place is really cramped, so most people would choose to take away or eat outside, but maybe that's not an option in the ever-cold Denmark, even in the summer, but if you do, this place would be packed by hundreds, so make sure your friend lay claim on a table first before you get on the queue. Look no more, if you want a real burger in Copenhagen - this is it! I am an instant fan, and I now have to reconsider my theory that its something in the water that have had everyone else fail - because seriously if you want a real American burger (fast food style - but high quality ingredients) nothing else comes close - NOTHING. I can't help smile when I think about the embarrassment Vesterbros Originale Burgerrestaurant must feel knowing how far they are from the title, or M.A.D claiming to be the the American Dinner of the city - sorry guys, you are beaten - look, taste and for gods sake - LEARN! This is by far the best burger I have had in Copenhagen - the bun is as it should be brioche. I know this is a hot topic, but to me there is only one right choice, and Tommy nails it with its light soft, sweet and puffy bun (perfect for soaking up the juices of the meat ). the actually burger patty was also good - the taste was outstanding - grill and salt was spot on, but the fat contents is still too low (come on get it past those 18-20% - would also add a little more of that meat juice which justifies the brioche bun) and my burger was not medium but a little too well done - next time i will go for red. and a full leaf of Iceberg is a major fail.. but details. And the fact that you can get better burgers in the USA without much of a try and now even in London doesn't take away from the fact that this is still in a league of its own in Copenhagen (and would be a f...... good burger in the US as well) - I will be back thats for sure. what can I say about the Tommis as a place - who cares. I am sure lots of people will even find the ambiance and decor cool but who the fuck cares - just eat the burger thats all that matters here. After a lot of talk about Tommi's, I finally managed to give it the good ol' college try yesterday, and was not disappointed. For the price, it's a solid burger and fry establishment, for sure. Admittedly, I've had better burgers in Copenhagen, but they would all qualify as "gourment burgers" on an American scale, and since I consider myself an expert on the topic, I can easily put this on the fast food scale, and as far as Copenhagen goes, it might be pretty close to the top. Unfortunately, all I could think of was how many to-go burger joints in New York made Tommi's pale in comparison (Shake Shack, Five Guys, Burger Joint...), which is why it got only 4 stars. The fries are basic - nothing particularly special about them, and though I didn't eat the bun, it looks like it overpowers the burger a bit (it's a brioche roll, which is, IMHO, too much for a burger). As for meat quality, a bit chewy, which is a running problem with burger meat in Copenhagen so not original to Tommi's. I suspect it's the lean quality of the meat in Denmark, and possibly over-working it when rolling it out into a patty. The environment at Tommi's, however, is pretty great. Things are a bit chaotic inside - not a lot of space to queue up to order, and no bathrooms, but on a hot sunny day like yesterday, that totally doesn't matter. I imagine that with a few more months they'll hopefully have figured out how to maximize the space to their advantage, and people will undoubtedly find another place to pee. :) Everyone was very friendly and helpful, there are plenty of exciting things on the wall to stare at while you wait for your order to be ready, a ton of picnic tables outside to sit out in the sun and eat (also plenty of indoor seating), and generally an easily accessible location. Pro-Tip: come for the burger, stay for the milkshake. Hands down the best shake I've had in a long while. Tastes like home. read more

Weirdly, Tommi's Burger Joint stands out amongst Copenhagen burger places, as they don't do specialty burgers which slowly but surely has become the norm in the Copenhagen burger scene. At Tommi's you get a cheeseburger plain and simple - no fancy buns, no weird sauces or sizes, no apple/bearnaise what-have-you filling - just a great delicious burger. For 89 kr. you get a can of soda, a heapload of fries, and a delicious plain-and-simple burger. The fries were super crisp, and best of all they were actual fries! You don't see that a lot anymore. Everything "fries" has become the fancier-but-less-tasty potato chives, but Tommi knows what's good for you and sticks to the American traditions. Loved it! read more

It's fine if you want a café burger that can be eaten with a knife and a fork, but you will not get that at Tommi's. You will stand in a line leading out of their tiny shop, and there is always a line because the burgers are great, and order your burger from a very short & sweet menu. The only variation you can get on a regular burger besides adding simple toppings is getting a veggie patty. They call your name and you go pick it up. You can put whatever sauces you want on your burger, but I prefer a bacon cheeseburger (94 dkk) with just jalapeños. By this time you will probably need your soda refilled if it is a hot day. Yes, it's a small cup but you get free refills! When you finally find a seat, you take a big bite... the bun is soft, just buttery enough to add flavour but doesn't get sogged by the burger juices because it is perfectly toasted on the insides. The meat has so much flavour as well as great texture and the cheese is melted just perfectly onto it. Not too much sauce, not too little. Altogether, a "dirty" version of In-N-Out, complete with mediocre fries. Not the worst but I'd rather just save space for another burger.. It's a very simple handheld burger but one that I doubt could be improved on. The service is not friendly but efficient. Bittersweet that my new favourite burger pusher in Copenhagen opened shortly before I move away.. but I'm moving back to the land of burgers so no worries. read more

After having biked past this place quite a lot of times, I decided for finally trying out this place, which has a small sign on their front saying "Burger Joint", and I'm a sucker for a proper burger joint. This place is exactly that. A small burger joint, that does pretty much that and nothing else. It doesn't try to either. And that creates a great atmosphere in their small joint. I went for their menu and wanted a classic cheese/bacon burger and that was exactly what I got. It was a great burger, that had just the right amount of stuff in it, and no unneeded salad in there. The fries that went with the burger was pretty much how you would want the fries to be. They were crisp in just the right way and I had eaten half of them, before I got home with my burger. Looking at the burger, it seemed rather small at first glance, but that was definitely not the case when it was eaten. I ate it rather quickly and it was just the right size for me. We finally got to try Tommi's! It took months, but we succeeded, and it was worth it. It's not the best burger joint in Copenhagen (IMO), but it is good. It's really tiny, so it's not good for groups, and they don't take reservations. I loved the interior of this place, too. Plus, I liked the Icelandic eye candy behind the counter. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers with fries, shakes, and bearnaise sauce to dip our fries in. The buns are the soft, squishy kind that you can squeeze into when biting into your deliciously, meaty burger. There was a perfect splash of ketchup, and fresh tomato and lettuce, which gave a crisp contrast to the warm, melted cheese and savory bacon. Mmmmmm.....The fries were quite good, too. You could get seasoned salt to put on them. My only dislike was the milkshake. I thought it was too sweet, and a bit boring for a chocolate shake, but Nikolaj really liked his vanilla shake. There's a Pimp Your Burger Bar, which is a genius idea. You can choose from a HUGE variety of different sauces, ketchup, and mustards to make your burger the way you want it to be. Finally, finally made it to Tommi's for a sunny Sunday lunch - after all, I am a burger gal and this place is frequently suggested to me when asking around for good burgers in Copenhagen. And boy, do I agree! My favorite thing might be what other reviewers have described as a "no bullshit" approach to burgers - in difference to other places such as Halifax, Haché or Nørrebro Grillen, they are certainly taking it back to the basics. Burgers? Classic or cheese, I think there's also one with steak, and a veggie option. Exotic toppings? Cheese and bacon. Sides? Fries. No fuss, no bullshit. Just plain good burgers. And good they are! A perfectly cooked patty (they will cook it medium by default, but I prefer mine well done), very well seasoned, with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles in a soft, a little bit sweet bun. The fries are thin and crispy, totally okay, but nothing to write home about. For no more than DKK 89, you'll get a burger, fries, and a soda - an offer that can't be beat in all of the greater Copenhagen area. I should say though that their burgers are smaller than at Halifax et. al., but they make a fair lunch portion and would definitely be enough for me for dinner as well. Really excellent experience. The burger was tasty, with the patty being well enough to stand on it's own, but the cheese and nice smoky bacon made wonderful contributions to the overall flavor. The bun was nicely toasted, as well, which I always appreciate with burgers. The staff was excellent as well, being professional and also had a sense of urgency with making sure customers were taken care of. After having such an awful burger at Yoburger, I wasn't sure I'd find a good burger in Copenhagen this time, but Tommis completely restored my faith. Will definitely stop in here again. read more

A very hip little burger joint with some unique things going on - like a fries bar with dozens of sauces to choose from. I ordered a cheeseburger meal deal with sweet potato fries. Really good fries (stole some regular potato ones too, yum). They seem to use cheddar instead of American cheese. It was a good burger, but I've definitely had better. My friend's burger came burnt so he was given a redo - the redo burger was freshly made and came nice and hot. The taste was 10x better than our burgers. We realized that our original burgers were most likely pre-made in mass to address the loads of orders coming in. A bit disappointing as the taste of the fresh burger really made a difference. Understood that they needed to do something to get food out quickly (we still did wait quite a while for our food) but hoping anyone who comes here is lucky enough to taste the piping hot fresh burger.
