All would be forgiven for a great burger. Halifax is a small restaurant with 3 booths and about 7 small tables. Their menu offers burgers with virtually every imaginable presentation. While many of the options looked appealing, we wanted to sample a burger/cheeseburger in its simplest form. Ordered medium rare-rare to allow for potential overcooking, our server asked us how rare we want them. This wasn't her first rodeo. As hoped, burgers were perfectly cooked and flavored. Obvious was the hand made patty vs. a frozen, pre made variety. Taste was fantastic, so fantastic I took smaller bites so it would last longer. We split an order of fries which tasted as if they were hand cut but if they weren't, I couldn't tell the difference. Just as good! Only strange thing was paying for ketchup. It's pretty good, and how they cooked it gave it a nice slight chewy texture. FRIES - 55,00 Standard yummy fries (lightly seasoned and crispy) but what takes the cake is the KOMBU DIP! KOMBU DIP - 15,00 Okay. WOW. Hold on....what IS this? There is something amazing about this simple dip. Pay the extra for this dip cuz it's worth it. I had a wonderful time here. It's one of those things where I was glad I stopped by, but didn't really experience anything with the food or ambiance that would make me recommend this as a out-of-the way stop that the ranking would seem to suggest. This one is the original, using the station building as a walk-up window with the kitchen inside. They have a few picnic tables on the side for outdoor dining, and I do think that it's important to eat the burger as soon as possible. The interesting thing is that it is still a working gas station, with an island with multiple pumps dispensing petrol (which I didn't see being used during my wait) and some electric charging stations (which was actively being used). I was able to place my order (nothing customized, just wanted exactly as they described after about a 10 minute wait, got my lemonade right away, and waited another 10 minutes to get my food (everything is made-to-order). The cheeseburger was 110 DKK, fries was 40, lemonade was 35, and dipping sauce was 10 with 10 off for being a combo. So total was 185 DKK (about $28.88 in USD). The process and food reminded me very much of a Shake Shack, with the young workers working together to produce well-made smashburgers using great ingredients. The color scheme reminds me of a Wingstop, though. I squeezed between a couple of single diners and dug in. The burger was good, with that loose smash burger quality. It came with a mayo based thousand island like sauce (their gasoline sauce), and had tomato, pickles, red onion slices, and a gooey, plentiful cheese. The lemonade was good, and the hint of elderflower made it memorable. The crinkle fries were good, well done fried which I appreciate. Ate the meal fast before my hands started to freeze up, tossed the remains in the gas station islands garbage bin and was on my way. I really do think a food like this is all about where you eat it...if on an airplane, or at a ballpark, or at the beach...yeah, I could see the appeal. But at a gas station in freezing weather on a picnic table...not so much.

Which so far is our cheapest meal in Copenhagen and gave us a large amount of food. We also got some extras added to our order on the house. The owner seems to run the shop on his own and is extremely friendly. His hospitality and generosity along with the food has made this meal the favorite of our trip.
